    Great segment, gents. Really interesting to hear your opinions and perspectives on Alberts’ departure. I personally think that despite his comments that alluded to the contrary, he was running from something. I haven’t heard anything yet however, that would shake a real leader. Especially such a high paid leader at his “dream job”. Poor decision, poor timing, poor messaging. His legacy was a victim of self-destruction.

    The why? The why is Trev and his character. No denying, Nebraska has a lot of improvements to be made, but the mere fact that this was on no ones radar, and that he did it at a time when school was on spring break, shows that this was a premeditated, calculated move.
    What ever problems there are at Nebraska, a real leader would dig in and look at it as an opportunity do something more impactful than endorsing a horrible Stadium remodel.
    It's ironic that he talks about leadership in his speech at A&M when he just demonstrated that he has a complete lack thereof.
    Just like Frost, he had the University, and the whole state, in the palm of his hand. Both sold themselves as the answer to the problems that were at hand, and all Nebraskans believed that they were exactly what Nebraska needed. Now both have shown that what they did on the field decades ago, doesn't translate to successful leadership after those days were long gone.
    He burned his bridges here, and will never be welcomed back to this state again, the way he did this. The best thing for everyone in Nebraska to do is wash their hands of it all. It over and done with. He made his choice and didn't look back, and everyone in Nebraska should do the same. GO BIG RED!

    Of course he was running…Its who trev alberts has been his entire public life…it’s who he was at the Colts when things got tough-he quit, its who he was at #ESPN he threw a hissy-fit and got fired... People don’t like his stadium redo..so he quit…and then there is his actions with Scoggins… gonna get hot…

      I concur. Having season tickets in the South Stadium since '67, his vision for the new South Stadium was a horrible design, especially losing all that seating capacity.

    It seems that everything was going great or at least on the up and he bailed on us. I love him, but it you don’t just bail, even if it’s hard. Even if you work for stinkers! You stay loyal. We don’t stop being fans when we can’t win a game. We stay because that’s what you do.

    The UNL board of regents blew it. Obviously they didn’t give him the support he needed. Five Athletic directors in 20 years creates a lot of uncertainty. 😡🤬😡🤬

    No one runs away from anywhere this quick, unless there's bigger issues. Say whatever, it makes Zero sense for Trev to leave, especially this quick.

    If leaders aren’t allowed to pursue their vision and don’t feel supported by the overall culture and environment, good people will move on to what they feel is a more promising opportunity. Our university system is being subjected to a lot of external pressures, some financial and others rather arbitrary and political. Of course, politicians will deny any impact they may have had, often pointing fingers at others.

  • @BRocks4thwall

    He probably left because the cesspool that is “booster culture” in college sports would make him hate UNL when he wants to love it. Nebraska fans should understand is that the struggles of UNL are self inflicted by lack of understanding of the progression and the university’s resistance to change until it’s too late. Continuing in the environment would have made him hate the University and ruined something he loves. If A&M is hiring him with his vision and on board, he can be successful and still love UNL. Nebraska culture is so definitively conservative that it’s detrimental to their actual expectations.
    It’s a relationship between a mature adult welcoming the changes of the future and a stuck in their ways program who always thinks the problems stem from outside their “culture.” Nebraska won’t get out of their own way. Not just at the university, but as a whole.

    I would have liked to see Trev call a news conference and basically call out people by name, say he’s on his last straw, and if This and That weren’t fixed he would be leaving. . .
    . . . but no one in the world would have hired him so it would have been a disservice to his family and the stupidest thing he could have done. . .
    . . . and say what you will about him, he’s not stupid.

    I believe that the next A.D. should be either the A.D. from Baylor, which has ties to Matt Rhule or the A.D. from USC, which is a Nebraska legacy? I apologize for not remembering the names. God bless and GBR 🌽 🏈 💪🏽

    It will take forever to hire anyone who is not already in the program.
    This is the AD equivalent of hiring a football HC when you’ve just fired Frank Solich.
    Let me save you some thumb energy - no joke it’s not exactly the same. It’s an analogy.

    This all comes down to the board of regents, this is my opinion, but when you have politics involved in decisions like hiring and firing of presidents, coaches and so on, it's never going to be easy to get priority decisions made for the best of the University? Sad 😔

    Aggie fan here,and not trying to be mean or hateful, but I hear a lot of entitlement. Much like we hear from tu. The past is just that. Thinking a school is better because of what was done 40 years ago is crazy to me. A&M is 100% on par if not better positioned than NU. Just my opinion. Go Big Red and GIG’em.

    • @rappmasterdugg6825
      @rappmasterdugg6825 8 месяцев назад +1

      Thanks for your comment and I think I know where you're coming from. But I disagree. A sense of entitlement would imply that we can snap our fingers and be competitive with any team in the country, because hey, we are Nebraska. But I don't think that's what fans believe. Rather, I think there's a belief that if we continue to support the team. Invest in facilities, recruit good players, get good coaches, have a good NIL program, - - that is, do the right things to build a football program that other schools are doing - -we should at least be competitive. But there is another factor that has been holding us back and that is leadership in the university, and the hiring of poor coaches or athletic directors. That's pretty frustrating. We know we have to get that right in order to succeed but the issues there are not very transparent to the everyday fan. And when things crater because of that there's a lot of frustration and surprise.
      A person may have been a great athlete when they were young, but that doesn't mean they're going to be in great shape when they're older. But if they eat right, exercise, get their sleep, take their medicines, they should be in pretty good shape. But they didn't account for that tumor...

  • @drn13355
    @drn13355 8 месяцев назад

    TAM has boatloads of NIL money. Light years more than Nebraska. And reality is CFB is now that to get players teams have got to have as close to unlimited money as possible. Maybe he saw the reality and the reality is Nebraska has no chance of winning anything. It sucks, but it is the world now.

    Just maybe the guy found what he believes is a better opportunity for himself and family. Not unusual for people to do that. Nebraska gave him no reason to stay. The 80’s and 90’s are over Husker fans.
