Hi, Peter, I need help as I don't understand this stuff. I just bought a weboost x to use while in my camper van. I use my cell for a Hotspot I was in a weak singal area, the weboost didn't seem to help. Can't afford starling. Will a better antenna help or am I chasing good dollars after bad? Any advice please or if you have any videos on this please post link. Ty
An external antenna could help but I would be remiss to state emphatically that it would without knowing more. Products like Weboost mean well but they were made for phone calls. All carriers (T-Mobile, AT&T, Verizon) have multiple bands and these radios pickup a few and repeat them... not all of them and only as well as they can. I have yet to see on that could produce a data improvement anywhere close to getting and external antenna. I took this unit out to a deserted beach where I lose cell coverage 15 minutes before getting there. I did not know if I could find anything... but it worked. I will have a video up tomorrow. Peter
Another reason to move my retirement location, but at least Cox has finally let rural people like me purchase high speed (500-650) Internet all by itself minus the cable box and their high priced TV!
My first question. What happens when I need to reset the router. Say it stopped responding, and I can't access the web interface. I can't do it without a ladder.
Pull the power from the PoE Injector. Let it sit for a few minutes, then power it back online. In most cases accessing the UI on these remote PoE systems is a problem of routing to the IP address than from issues on the device. IE: local LAN IP: 192.0.0.2 (from IP Passthrough/Bridge Mode from th modem), but the modem UI is 192.168.225.1. Your router or computer, if dire3ct connected, doesn't know how to reach the IP address that is out of it's own range. Simple fix is to manually assign the local IP to be in range of the UI (192.168.225.x), longer term complex fix is to create a firewall/routing rule to allow access to both IP ranges.
Unplug the POE power injector for 30 seconds and plug it back in (the small power box) would cause a power cycle to the modem. After its fine tuned, I can see the only reason to climb back up a ladder/tower would if the SIM card died or if there was an issue with the ethernet cable
Yes, a very good question. I do not like having to go out on the ladder. My roof is slippery. Also, power cycling doesn't always clear things up (Yeacom for example), you had to go out with a screw driver and hit reset. This appears to be much easier. Also, you do not need a SIM card, it has eSIM capability
Are we talking technically or legally? I always hate these questions because I'm not a lawyer and I'm definitely not an international lawyer. I am aware that laws differ from place to place even dramatically. There are four main providers in France and each one of them have about eight different frequencies. I guess that's a long way of saying I don't know. I've been to France and they have some really good packages. Free for example is a provider that has some really exciting home internet and cable packages that are like $20 bucks (I mean euros) a month.
Thanks. Peter - I meant purely technically. My current 4G supplier is SFR. The signal inside is poor, and often fades away completely. The SIM, if installed in the receiver you describe, mounted externally might make all the dfference...
It's not your radio that is limiting you... but your plan. Many popular plans are FAW (fixed area wireless) where companies are trying to sell off excess bandwidth, in areas that have excess bandwidth. Many RV'ers have grabbed these cards and hit the road but companies are poised to crack down on this. I am scouting for plan solutions for mobile folks and will be posting something shortly. This radio will be excellent for the road but you need a plan that will allow it.
@@MrSummitville Sorry if I confused you but many of the people in the industry call them radios. It seems weird but it is true and accurate. It is a indeed a Radio. In fact, a cellphone is a radio too. A Radio is the technology of communicating using radio waves. Radio waves are electromagnetic waves of frequency between 3 hertz and 300 gigahertz (that's a huge spectrum!). In 1987, I saw someone make a "cellphone" call was over HAM Radio. HAM Radio operators were bouncing Voice Packets and proved the cellphone market before it ever existed. Now you can call it a radio too. 😀 We owe this whole thing to HAM nerds. I hope they were smart enough to make some money
Many have used multiple Terabytes on Tmobile Home Internet and the business unlimited internet. Both have stated they don't mind the use of 3rd party hardware, they just cannot support the 3rd party hardware; but then that's what the hardware providers are for. :)
How far are you from the T-Mobile cell tower? For me, I am 3.5 to 4 miles away, and I am still getting 150mbs download and 10mbs upload. I want to put an antenna outside to help boost the signal.
At home, I am only about 1.7 miles from my tower and it is a straight shot but I have tested this at the beach where no cellphone has ever worked and it lit up! I have to take it back there now that I found out what happened to end my testing... take a look ruclips.net/video/MDRYMzMQCI4/видео.html If you are getting 150/10, I bet this is going to work miracles for you.
Are you running this with T-Mobile business or home? It is my understanding is T-Mobile Home does not allow you to bring your own device, but the business option does? This sounds like a great option for rural internet.
I have both accounts (Home and Business). I pay for both every month. I agree that Business accounts not only allow for more freedom but appear to have better priority. It is indeed a different APN, meaning a different Network with different demands and peak demand times. I think the smart move is to get the Business Internet account. It allows for BYOD as you mention and give me much better freedom. Many people are frozen by the possibility that T-Mobile may change their enforcement on Home users and Business accounts are the answer.
Just came across your channel as I’m looking for better internet. I currently have T-Mobile home internet, model KVD21. Is it as simple as you make it to seem? Just attach Elsys Amplimax Ultra 5G Outdoor CPE and Directional Antenna? Do you have any videos that entails all details to applying this Elsys? The spec sheet is extremely impressive except the optional wifi router. I think imma reccomend a tri band wifi 7 router for this one! 6e wifi router at the very least!
The spec sheet is for the product that sells in Brazil. This is a modem only without a Wi-Fi router. I like it better that way. The need for the internet is ubiquitous but situations with building locations both inside and out require that the two be treated independently. I like using my mesh router much better than any other single router
@PeterC408 I am learning it's best to build one's own wifi network seperate from the internet input myself so I'm not too worried if the wifi router is optional. Still, you think they would reccomend a higher powered one that can actually use all of the theoretical maximum speed of the device they're trying to sell. Honestly, not too big of a deal. Anyone who buys an optional router from them probally won't be using that much speed anyways. And those who know, well... they know. Lol
Ping is largely misunderstood. Some people think that a ping test is going to show you what your experience is going to be like when you get to a certain game. It all depends on the server that you're going to.
I have had this conversation with several engineers already. It is like arguing that a Bee should not be able to fly. The looming fact is that they can fly and this does work. I can server my DVR, my TV Tuners and Multiple Servers from several PCs to two different NAS drives.
@@PeterC408 Not really sure what you're saying you can do, but you may well be able to do that. What you can't do is, for example, expose a web server behind cgnat to the internet...of course there are several workarounds for cgnat but I'm afraid ddns is not one of them. Ddns is a workaround for having a dynamic ip address - hence the name.
For $700.00 Dollars? No thanks! That's ridiculous for something like that honestly they just need to make 5G better everywhere it's 2024 5G needs to be better now! They need to make the Networks and Towers better now!
Bottom line, The gateways that T-Mobile is providing their customers are not good enough. The modem function and access point function need to be separate. While the need for the internet is ubiquitous, locational challenges both indoors and out exist. This is one tool that can be used to level the playing field and allow it to work in locations that previously it would not. Personally I'm saving $30 a month using T-Mobile over Comcast with much better speeds. Absorbing $700 worth of equipment is done in 1 years time. I'm on my second year with T-Mobile internet. T-Mobile business internet is BYOD.
@@PeterC408 Oh yeah I agree I have T-Mobile 5G Home Internet because I save money from Comcast/Xfinity too I just wish they would make their Stock Gateways better and make 5G better all around so people wouldn't have to use as much Third Party Equipment.

@@nerdmoneyranch1988 Can't. I have insulation between the rafters that is layered with a sheet of aluminum. I thought about that also but you with a regular analog antenna I can't get a signal. I also tried to put a dish in my attic but it would not work.
I am starting to hate HOAs and I don't even have one. Knowing me, I would make it my personal mission to do everything they don't want me to, just to be free. You can run the cable up to 300 ft so perhaps we can be creative. Can you make a birdhouse and integrate this in the design somehow? Put a RedCross on it and say it is for medical deliveries. Oh, paint it bush color and stick it in a hedge. There has got to be a way around the HOA.😉
I don't think that there is anything wrong with the Nokia unit. There was obviously an RFQ on different devices to enable T-Mobile's network and it fit the bill at the time. I have since found several products that I like better but that doesn't mean that Nokia is going to "fix" theirs. What do you want it to do that it currently does not?
Yes, that is kind of a major fail. It happens when their AP tried to support "too many" devices. If you plug in another router, it does not happen but then, since you can not turn off NAT, you have double NAT. It's a catch-22. This new modem can go into bridge mode and just passes through the IP address, so your router (mine from NetGear can work its magic, with all the FW features of a real access point). Take a look at this video ruclips.net/video/UJHy8wbKBW8/видео.html
This IS a 4x4 antenna with a better modem inside. Most 4x4 MIMO have to be within 20-30 feet of your dwelling. This goes way outside, but to 300ft away. Now you can really get a better view of the surroundings. Also, this is not 5G NSA, but 5G SA as well and now we have BRIDGE MODE and can get rid of CG-NAT and Double-NAT issues. This is WAY BETTER.
Oh, this did better than my best 4x4 MIMO hooked up to my BEST $650 5G radio. This is like getting a better everything for less money. Granted, it is $700 but if you can swing it, it is pretty darn sweet!
@@PeterC408 Again, $700 is not an inexpensive solution. This is so niche, fewer than 1% of customers will ever look into something like this. People get T-Mo Home Internet because cable is getting too expensive and fiber isn’t available more than 11% of US homes at the consumer level. People aren’t getting T-Mo because they’re rural as often as you’re suggesting, and most people’s property don’t have 300 feet in any direction for Ethernet limitations to even matter, so 20-30ft is more than enough for 99% of TMHI subscribers, along with a quad mini from waveform which gives you ~90% of the speeds you’re getting. $200 vs $700? $500 for 10% more speed? I’m getting pretty consistent 900+ mb down and 110 mb up with the quad mini during peak hours, and I can brush into gigabit late at night with around 130 mb up. I live 2.5 miles away from the nearest tower but it was upgraded in 2023 with DWDM CPE backhaul and brand new radios. I spent $149 on the quad mini and sourced my own cables, conduit and adapter for roughly $50. I’m sorry, but I just can’t see the average pro-sumer paying an extra $500 for this, but if the price drops to maybe $350-$400 I’d be all over it. That $1000+ setup is a joke too, sorry man.
It's not necessary for many people but if you're looking at StarLink, this is $100 more expensive at the beginning and then $70 cheaper every single month.
@@PeterC408 I would buy if it does what it says as we get 1-2MBS but honestly I just can't afford that kind of equipment at moment with the way everything is thanks for the review though

You can try to hide it, but tax cheats are no different than any other thief. Also, online sellers can only escape sales taxes if they are small and don't get noticed, so this reseller may ultimately change his tune ;).

Peter
Interesting. How far are you from a tower? We're between two T-Mobile towers at 4.5 miles from each tower. We're lucky to get 15 Mbps.
I am indeed closer but this should help dramatically.
Would it work in France, if I put the SIM card from my existing French provider's 4g receiver in it?
Can it be installed on a RV and go anywhere nationwide?
It's not your radio that is limiting you... but your plan. Many popular plans are FAW (fixed area wireless) where companies are trying to sell off excess bandwidth, in areas that have excess bandwidth. Many RV'ers have grabbed these cards and hit the road but companies are poised to crack down on this. I am scouting for plan solutions for mobile folks and will be posting something shortly. This radio will be excellent for the road but you need a plan that will allow it.
@@PeterC408"radio'' ? That is an odd term to apply to this "antenna / modem" device, that can both send and receive.
What are you using for true no data caps provider that you can use can use you device with their sim?
Many have used multiple Terabytes on Tmobile Home Internet and the business unlimited internet. Both have stated they don't mind the use of 3rd party hardware, they just cannot support the 3rd party hardware; but then that's what the hardware providers are for. :)
I have a T-Mobile for Business SIM that allows for BYOD - I have never noticed a Data Cap and have pulled over 3TB.
Looks like a really nice product Mr Peter.
@PeterC408 So which one is better then? The Waveform 4x4 or this new antenna?
So I just got the new white T-Mobile router modem. Can I just put the SIM card in this or do I need to call T-Mobile to get permission?
Sounds like you have the G4AR from T-Mobile (made by Arcadian). That should work fine with the T-Mobile SIM
I’ve had both spectrum and now T-Mobile, which both suck. Slow and spotty. I’ve had T-Mobile for two years now and have it because it’s nice to have one bill for cell phone and home internet.
Any help would be extremely helpful as I record videos and uploads.
I’m actually looking for best results for uploads and not have to worry about anything.
Thank you much in advance.
Take a look at this new video ruclips.net/video/6CHP5T9Fu1E/видео.html It is pretty easy and the reseller is a Wizard at setting this up for just about any SIM. I am interested to know your experience but I am sure that you will like it. There is no better way to improve your uplink to the web than replacing the TMobile hardware. I am getting 140-170Mbps UP... really helps with RUclips.
Does it work in the uk
Please send me a plane ticket and I will find out. 😉 The UK is an odd duck for many things, so I hesitate. Let me ask and get back to you. Work yes, allowed unknown.
And those who know, well... they know. Lol
Lots of speed tests looks great. What one of these has the most stable ping
Ping is largely misunderstood. Some people think that a ping test is going to show you what your experience is going to be like when you get to a certain game. It all depends on the server that you're going to.
Looks a nice bit of kit - don't think you're gonna be bypassing cgnat with ddns tho!
I have a new Security Camera DVR and it is working very well. Again, bees can fly... its a thing.
@@PeterC408 Oh yeah I agree I have T-Mobile 5G Home Internet because I save money from Comcast/Xfinity too I just wish they would make their Stock Gateways better and make 5G better all around so people wouldn't have to use as much Third Party Equipment.
i am going to have to wait for the price to come down
The price has been carefully examined and we pushed to get it down to $699. I don't see it coming down soon. Its just a cost of goods thing.
In the Houston area, some subdivisions don't allow antinas on the roofs. I like the device and would like to own one. But, I'll have to fight my homeowners association.
Mount it in the attic.
@@nerdmoneyranch1988 Can't. I have insulation between the rafters that is layered with a sheet of aluminum. I thought about that also but you with a regular analog antenna I can't get a signal. I also tried to put a dish in my attic but it would not work.
@@EnriqueGarcia25 In a room inside? Spaced a few feet off the wall should work pretty well.
It is against federal law for HOA’s to have rules that prohibit over-the-air reception devices: www.fcc.gov/media/over-air-reception-devices-rule
So this is why the Invisagig software reveisions stopped, eh.
Not true. :) Different company altogether makes this product.
InvisaGig software update v1.0.12 is nearly ready to beta test and release.
@@nerdmoneyranch1988 How about a little more capable and user friendly graphical UI?
The Invisa-gig kept their interface text based for speed.
I hope nokia fixed their T-Mobile home internet cause ive had problems with it in the past
@@PeterC408 well i had problems with it before
@@PeterC408 well NOT thermal throttle NOT disconnect from the internet for no reason
@@PeterC408 well hopefully the one i got recently had its issues worked out
$700 !!!!!!!!!!!! Dude….just get a 4x4 ANTENNA!!!
Don't love the price!
If your state has a sales tax, you *will* owe state sales tax on this purchase and this is generally done by adding unpaid sales taxes on state tax return forms. You can try to hide it, but tax cheats are no different than any other thief. Also, online sellers can only escape sales taxes if they are small and don't get noticed, so this reseller may ultimately change his tune ;).
Yo boo-boo, screw the sake's tax 😆
@@PeterC408 The entire west coast state taxes are ridiculous. The lack of having to pay Washington's 10% (state, and county) sales tax allowed me to justify paying for expedited shipping. :) I saw your beach video, I'll keep you updated about rural areas in the woods, towers obscured by 100ft trees.
