@@salozmen29 Actually he wrote numerous songs, many of which were hits but you probably wouldn’t have known if you weren’t scrolling through youtube and someone didn’t tell you.
The Monkees are up towards the top of my list of favorite 60s pop groups. Up there with the Beatles, the Byrds and the Beach Boys. Thank you Mickey, and RIP Mike, Peter & Davey.
Glad to see (and hear) that on this, the Monkees farewell tour, Micky is singing some of the songs from his fantastic, recent solo album, Dolenz Sings Nesmith. That collection is brilliantly produced and arranged by Mike's son, Christian, and deserves more exposure and recognition. It's proof that the " does not fall far from the tree". Like his father, his musical taste is exquisite. I look forward to seeing Mike and Micky perform when they play NYC in October!! Thanks to all for making this happen one last time.
Priceless, Your so lucky to be able to see these two legends in concert. Here in Australia, we don't get anything like this. RIP Mr Nesmith, We are missing you
You and I travel to the beat of a different drum Oh, can't you tell by the way I run Every time you make eyes at me? Whoa You cry and moan and say it will work out But honey child I've got my doubts You can't see the forest for the trees So, don't get me wrong, it's not that I knock it It's just that I am not in the market For a girl who wants to love only me Yes, and I ain't sayin' you ain't pretty All I'm saying's I'm not ready for any person Place or thing to try and pull the reins in on me, so Goodbye, I'll be leavin' I see no sense in this cryin' and grievin' We'll both live a lot longer if you live without me So, don't get me wrong, it's not that I knock it It's just that I am not in the market For a girl who wants to love only me Yes, and I ain't sayin' you ain't pretty All I'm saying's I'm not ready for any person Place or thing to try and pull the reins in on me, so Goodbye, I'll be leavin' I see no sense in this cryin' and grievin' We'll both live a lot longer if you live without me Songwriter: Michael Nesmith
Hope you have more of this content to show, much appreciated. Saw them in Melbourne Australia June 2019...so glad I did because obviously never will again. Thanks again.
1:14 I met Mike at a free concert in Albany, Oregon around 1998. He did a great show and afterward I mentioned how much I loved his work with the First National Band. He thanked me and told me how much that meant to him. He was really nice to talk to and we shook hands at the end of our conversation.
Great version of an all time classic. Michael did not look at all well and indeed only had about three months to go. Micky still hanging in well though.
I fantasized about Conan O'Brien uttering to George Mickey Dolenz Jr., "The sound of your music sucks." Since I treated this case like a funny joke. It's when my father said to me, "Don't mess with me." Duane G. Shelton butts in saying to me, "You like messing with your father?" The sound of George Mickey Dolenz Jr's music sometimes causes me to bad enough to want to go bonkers.
the missing verse though.. "Well I feel pretty sure That you'll find a man Who will take a lot more than I ever could or can And you'll settle down with him And I know that you'll be happy" Would have been pretty easy to rewrite that from the female perspective for Linda . Maybe back then, for a woman to talk about ''taking a lot more than I ever could or can" was too much? I mean ..it pretty much applies to most men I have dated and how I got to feeling about them :-)
The Greenbriar Boys sang the song before Linda Ronstadt. I believe she listened to their version first which they did not include that verse. Not sure if she ever heard Mike Nesmith's version in either case she was following more along the lines of the Greenbriar Boys version.
One of the strangest performance videos I have ever seen. In his prime Nesmith wanted virtually nothing to do with the band, blowing off most of the invitations when everyone wanted him there. And here he is at the end, more dead than alive and seemingly not knowing where he is, mouthing the words to his own song out of sync and with his microphone turned off. Pretty puzzling why he wanted to be there then and not before.
RIP Mike Nesmith. You were a legend.
Love the way Micky champions his friends song. A true friend 💕
Mike Nesmith is one the most overlooked geniuses in pop history.
I mean he wrote one good song. Even Ringo Starr did that.
@@salozmen29 He wrote more than one.

Mike is a legend. RIP KING
These guys gave us a life time of pure joy
Michael Nesmith, thanks for all the joy from a 9 year old in 1966 right up until your passing. Condolences to all of your family, friends and fans.

Just saw the show in Portland and it was 100% brilliant. Hold Nez as long as we have him.

Mickey's bringing it! Wow. Great performance.
Great great song. Flawless really. Thanks Mike!

It's a shame we have to wait for Jan Wenner to die before they get into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame
What a gem!
Robert Michael Nesmith
December 30, 1942-December 10, 2021
He died on the10th, not the 11th.
Wow, I didn't know Mike wrote this. Man of many great talents. He sure wrote some big hit songs.....
Wow, he sounds good. This arrangement and his delivery are perfect for his strong but unrefined voice.
You know I love the monkey but I'm glad they didn't record this I'm glad they gave it to Linda Ronstadt
a little less than 3 months before he sadly passed
sat down & looking frail
should he have gone thru with this tour.......
I think he obviously really wanted to, and probably knew his time was near.
Absolutely it’s what he obviously loved to do
Did they turn Mike's mic off lol?
they definitely mixed his vocals down during some of the songs when I saw them back in November 2021.
No, they turned Mic's mike off.
Mike is the only one I never met. And I never will. Makes me sad!

Nice. Organ sounds good here, too.

Too bad, it would have made a great Monkee song.
So sad to hear about Mike Nesmith. A legend and lovely man too.

we all may make different choices when we know the end is near
The Monkees belong in the Hall. Shameful omission.
People who ramble on before they sing piss me off!
