It always amazes me how articulate Swedes are at American English. Every time I come across a Swede abroad I can barely hear an accent. I never understood how they spoke American English so well. Sone told me it's because they have American TV, but they speak better than a lot of Americans.
We start learning English very early in school, but that's British English. That helps, but the real reason is because we have all the American tv shows and we only have Swedish subtitles. So we hear the words in American English, and read the Swedish translation live while watching the movies.
I always though he was American lol I mean he definitely has a Scandanavian last name but I assuemd he was born in the States of Scandanavian heritage I am shocked he is actually born and raised in Sweden
@@MrFelixify Agree I am Jamaican and the same thing here the further upper middle class you go a lot of Jamaican youths will sound slightly North American but thats literally because we consume mostly American media TV and movies
Most Swedes begin English lessons at age 5 and the more immersed they are in another culture (american/ british etc), the less Swedish accent. Bill's is almost indetectable
There are lots of Swedes that seem to speak better English than Swedish. For many almost all of the content they consume online is in English since a young age. Since so many people spend so much time online nowadays lots of people think of the word they want to say in English first instead of in Swedish and it's very annoying because it disrupts the flow of conversation.
His childhood alter-egos are absolutely adorable! 😍 Now that we know about cowboy-dress wearing Stefon, an adult manifestation of Scandinavian Stefon meeting up with Bill Hader's "Weekend Update" Correspondent character, Stefon, is the Saturday Night Live skit that I did not know until now how much I needed. 🤣 (Both Bills are friends so Lorne Michaels, get on this!)
Really? Which interview? He has spoken great English in all interviews I have watched. Just watched a interview from five years back where is was very well spoken.
We love American movies in Sweden, and their Dad were in American movies when they grow up! And almost all Sweds are good at American English, and Brittish English too! Lol!!
Who says they don't learn? As a child, Bill spent a lot of time with his father on various film sets around the US and probably perfected his American accent that way.
We learn Brittish english in school but since we are so influenced by American culture with music and movies and such, it affects our english accent. Personally I also think that we find the general American accent more neutral than any English accent. I think people would find it sort of pretentious to try speaking with a English accent. I also think it takes less effort to take on the American accent 😊
@@billskarsgardfan7150 fair enough, but isn’t subtext something you select if you’re hearing impaired? The way this video was set up was more like he’s got such a thick accent that you need subtext to understand him, which isn’t the case.
So, I cannot decide which amazing kid/ family member to name my Volvo after? So I think it simply needs to be Skarsgård👏👏👏👏❤️🤍🩵 Proud heritage, but I get what he says regarding costume~ Skandi is it’s own thing- far from America or film. So also is my Romanian/ Romani ties. I am grateful I tripped on this interview. And as I type, can you imagine Werner Hertzog narrating me? Because oddly; I hear Werner Hertzog narrating me speaking of my Swedish/Romani heritage. I am very proud of this family & their tiring work- immense talents, the whole lot! I hope their family is proud of eachother. If I had that?
