    In France you must wear CE marked motorcycling gloves. It’s a €135 on the spot fine if you’re stopped.

    Looks beautiful if a bit chilly. I wasn't sure if I was allowed to post here, I thought it a David Matthews only comment section.

    Hi. I’ve just found your channel and subscribed after watching this because I found it so interesting! I’m just researching travel in Europe before I go. A bit premature really, seeing as I haven’t bought a bike yet. I’m hoping to buy one next year. I like to hear what more experienced riders have to say. Anyway I just wanted to say thank you for making these videos ✌️

      If adv bike look at a Himmy, CF Moto, Rieju, Kove. The Rieju one has a 39l tank! If you are touring that 2 days worth of petrol...at least.
      Litelok x1 looks good as security.

      @gudgengrebe, thank you for the nice comment, always great to receive thanks for making a video. Appreciate you dropping bike and checking out this one! I hope your Europe tour goes well... cheers, Sean

      Maurice with some good tips there, CF's new 450MT is the bike to watch IMO!

    Hi-viz vest is also necessary in Belgium.

    Regarding security: Bring a motorcycle cover and use whenever you leave the bike unattended for any length of time. Preferrably an old and tatty one, just as long as it visually covers the bike completely. This especially reduces risk with expensive bikes.

    What cycle are you riding? Do you have any intel on a cycle security app?

      Hi JB, I am riding here my Voge 500DSX, just recently sold actually. I have an app called Sizzapp but I would not recommend it at this time as I haven't really used it that much and I think it might drain the battery a little.

    Great video! Where in Norway is this?

    • @MindfulMotorcyclist
      @MindfulMotorcyclist  8 месяцев назад

      Hi Jarle, thanks for the comment. To be honest I'm not exactly sure I would say in the south coming out of Valdres Natur og kulturpark and heading back towards Brevik where my ferry was. The wifi in this cafe is awful so I can't look at the map in detail. The other videos in the Norway series might give additional details. Thanks!

    Usefull vid! My main thing re camping is wet weather (kinda obvious) but it really makes a diff.
    Had to pack up in wet and then got even more wet (waterproofs didnt seem to work and boots were squelching).
    Also think I need to get a tarp if camping in Wales/Scotland. I guess you can do warm weather camping am toying with the idea of Wales in Sept. (Was going in June but had to cancel)
    P.s Just general touring dont think have a problem. As you say might just do inexpensive b n bs if say Spain etc.
    The other issue I have is ferry prices...(to do the picos you really need to go with other riders to share cabins).
    Am tempted to do France but take it slow and use campsites with pools and then practice my French! 4 days to reach Spain.

      I must admit I was hoping it would stay dry, there's a world of difference between happily putting a tent away in calm sunny weather and struggling in driving rain! I was lucky in Norway... September is looking better than July/Aug in terms of weather...

    • @gudgengrebe
      @gudgengrebe Год назад +1

      @@MindfulMotorcyclistI’d like to offer a suggestion: buy a large tarp. You can buy strong one’s online. I have a DD 3m X 3m which is big enough to cover the tent and give you dry space to stand up, pack your tent away under the shelter of the tarp, get dressed up in your waterproofs and then last of all put the tarp away, job done everyone is dry. You probably have room to park your bike under the same tarp. Obviously you can’t use a much smaller tarp if you need the space. I hope this helps.

    • @gudgengrebe
      @gudgengrebe Год назад

      I forgot to mention in my last comment about the tarp: you’d be able to stand up and stretch, hang your clothes up to dry, work on your bike, cook food outside of your tent. If it’s not raining, a big tarp provides shade.

    • @MauriceTarantulas
      @MauriceTarantulas Год назад

      @@gudgengrebe I tried a 3x3 wasnt big enough! Wish had bought a side open tent as my naturehike is 7ft long at least.
      Depends how you orientate the tarp but found it was gonna pour water onto the tent or was touching it..
      Am getting there more testing in Spring!

    So where are the direct ferry routes from the U.K. to Norway? They don’t exist! You’re making this up as you go along.

  • @davidmatthews3093
    @davidmatthews3093 Год назад +1

    Now it’s getting bizarre. Take the ferry? Miss out on some of the best motorcycling roads in Europe because you think they’re boring? Why is travelling through France expensive? It’s not, for me it would be about €100 from the channel ports to the Pyrenees for fuel and a hotel? Compare that to your horrifically expensive ship.

  • @davidmatthews3093
    @davidmatthews3093 Год назад

    My bike has a range of 500km, why would I consider stopping every 100km. In most of Europe 24 hour fuel stations are everywhere. Why are you making it sound so difficult?

    • @MindfulMotorcyclist
      @MindfulMotorcyclist  Год назад

      In Norway particularly in the north you take on fuel when it's there. You also stop frequently to rest, stretch your legs, reduce fatigue etc

    • @RubenTavernier
      @RubenTavernier 10 месяцев назад

      Also in Germany (Eifel) and in Luxemburg in weekends it's difficult to get fuel, especially with just a debit card.

  • @davidmatthews3093
    @davidmatthews3093 Год назад

    You make it sound as though people only camp to save money. That’s not true, I prefer camping to staying in hotels. I will only stay in a hotel if there’s a really good reason to do so.
