As an unbeliever I started, somehow, to glom onto Seawind in the mid-70's, this very song was getting airplay on L A jazz radio (go figure) and this brought me, pretty directly, into God's eternal family . How thankful I am .
It’s a great song, and Pauline vocals are amongst the sweetest ever heard in Jazz, but the instrumentals are truly exceptional. It’s quite clear why the Seawind musicians were highly sought after by the most famous and successful jazz, funk, and soul stars of that era and became legendary in their own right.
One of the all time great groups, the Seawind sound, tighter than tight jazz instrumentals with dynamo Pauline Wilson vocals. NOT JUST HAWAIIAN LOCAL GROUP GREAT they were all world great. This album is nearly 50 years old, still unbelievable, you still think I've never heard any group with this sound. Jazz afficionados worldwide have come across Seawind recordings for 50 years and are always utterly amazed. The flugelhorn solo is a magical moment in music history.
This song takes me back to my youth in Penllyn, Pa (near Philly) in the summer of '77. Those summer Sunday's hangin' with the home folks at The School Field. Pretty girls everywhere, pick-up basketball games, burgers and chicken on the grill, GREAT TIMES
Way back in the middle 70's all the DJ's at KRTU-FM 91.7 used to play this gem! It was in our rotation. Love this timeless classic! God bless all of you from San Antonio,Texas!
I always loved this group since college days, and recently found out that some of Seawind's musicians played on Michael Jackson's BAD album.. perfection!
Larry Williams. He served double duty in Seawind; keyboards and sax. Amazing musician. From this track (which was always my favorite Seawind example of his great piano work), it sounds like he took in a bunch of Chick Corea (whom I knew nothing about in 1977) before the recoding session....
Love this song and the more i hear it, the more i have an appreciation for the Horn playing and arrangement from Mr Jerry Hey.....The guys ability is simply stunning.
@@BWild82 Yes, everything about it was anointed, including its composer, Bob Wilson. Something about that horn solo is just magical and lasting! "The longer you wait, her harder it gets" - the truth!
My late cousin work these guys on a couple of their albums. Like the Soul/Jazz group, 'Rotary Connection', it's very unfortunate this almost obscure ensemble, with its lovely and pleasing sound, never received half the recognition and exposure it so deserved.
Micheal Carter ,I know where Penlynn is I'm from Ardmore. See how music brings people together. I had this album and was hooked right away.....The Devil's A Liar another good one of many.....peace
Oh man, just listen to how fat vinyl sounds---so much more depth than cds. Seawind was always loved by serious musicians. This track also features a very rare solo from Jerry Hey, the greatest horn arranger in L.A. for decades. Their recent "Reunion" album is killin' too!
Michele DeLeon I'm sure it's available on Amazon, probably only on cd. I think some of their earlier recordings are available on vinyl as well though. Good luck.
Love this comment. My parents spent their time there and I was raised on this music. Remember the first time my Dad sat me down and span this. Fantastic tune. Wish I could have been old enough to be at the Goldmine / Lacy etc.
I canNOT believe those who go to such amazing effort to dislike this beautiful tune. Even if they don't agree with the philosophy, which is more likely why they click dislike, the tune is very beautiful. I love it! Seawind was a wonderful group and left its legacy.

KKGO played their music. That is how I found them in the 70's.
That is so awesome!
The music is absolutely the most beautiful and the best. And the gospel message is even better. Love is the truth and Jesus is Love
Amen, Brother!
Seawind is everything great about music. Period.
I remember this wonderful piece of music from my clubbing days....this is when music was music !!!!!
Everything about this song is perfect...the cymbal work, Rhodes, fretless bass, flugel solo, vocals...I think this song IS love!
Agreed. the horn solo is especially amazing. Bob Wilson's compositions are gorgeous.

Pauline vocals sorry to be particular, not saying you are wrong are not Jazz only. Actually many levels mostly holy gospel Soul
Great chart ! The legendary Jerry Hey on that sweet flugel horn solo !
Great in late 70''s, still loved today by many.

Pauline Wilson the loveliest voice best looking singer of 70's,80's,90's,today!
give that Rhodes player some...that guy is AWESOME!!!
Absolutely!!

I believe he played the iconic Rhodes on Jarreau's "We're In This Love" too, a truly gifted musician for sure.

+UBZUKKI I agree
It is the most beautiful horn solo I've ever heard.
Pam Tebelman I’ve always felt the same way. A magical moment, that solo, (also the whole song...everything about it)

Saw this amazing group at The Baked Potato in Los Angeles back in day. They were so AMAZING!
This is musicians in total harmony in check. Add the Queen Pauline Wilson on vocals ! This is heaven in every way !
Heard them in college as the warm up band to George Benson, Wake Forest University 1977.
2023 and I’m still enjoying this.
Me too... we used to play this at the Manila Hotel at the Champagne Room in the 70s...
This feeds my soul.
