This song has been composed in the presence of deity Chamundeshwari, praying from the whole of his heart to cure the severe stomach ache suffered by the Maharaja Krishnadevarayar. None of the doctors in the palace could cure the ailment. Maharaja was having severe pain and everyone in the place got worried. When Muthaiah Bhagavathar came to know of it, he went straight to Chamundi Hills and sat before the presiding deity Chamundeshwari and composed and rendered this song from the whole of his heart. Before he returned to the palace, the Maharaja was cured. Bhagavathar never revealed this to anyone
The composition is in pure Kannada and composer is none other than Nalwadi Krishnaraja pOdeyar himself. Some how it is credited to Great Muthayya Bhagawathar!!!@@shrikhar
it is so immature of listeners to concentrate on mannerisms instead of enjoying such a great music by one of the great artistes. can only pity such people.
What has body language or mannerisms to do when TMK is capable or blessed to produce some rare notes and touching music?Among contemperory singers he is at top undoubtedly.Watch Late Bhimsen Joshi's concerts but he is Bharat Ratna !!
Maathe .. by TMK was there earlier on RUclips, but it was removed in between ( probably because of some crappy copyright issues ! ) .. I was missing it.. Now, we have it back again.. ! thank you !
Is it so difficult to enjoy the music without concentrating on the artist's mannerisms? As if TMK went to acting school to learn face contortions! That is his involvement in the music coming through - if it puts you off, avert your eyes and listen. And why this debate on whose composition it is - the mudra 'Harikesa' should be clue enough, methinks!! :) :) :)
+Chandramouli Dear Chandramouli and Sivakumar...I think you have misunderstood my comments. What I meant was...TMK didn't go to acting school and learn those mannerisms, whatever you see on stage are natural and part of his music. Anybody who can't take the gestures can avert their eyes and concentrate on the music. I hope I have made it clear. Regards.
His style is a mix of Carnatic and Hindustani...(less of Carnatic and more of Hindustani). He is deliberately cultivated a nasal voice I believe...just to break away from theelite Chennai Sabha culture...

The composer is indeed Muthaiah Bhagavatar - who was in the court of Nalvadi Krishna Raja Odeyar.

I see some politics on comments. Very bad for music.
The composer is krishna raja wodeyar king of Mysore and not muthiah bhagavatar.
Composer is muttaiah bhagavatar and he has composed prising the king nalvadi krishna raja vadayar.
As I have read, this was indeed written by the maharaja and bahagavathar added the swaraksharams
Yes. It is in pure Kannada language. Whether there is word Taayi (Mother) in Sanskrit?
@@sowmyaramkumar8113May be, but it is in Kannada!!!
Whether it is the King Odeyar or Muthayya Bhagawathar, the language is Kannada!!!
