Love it! My dad had a 65 econoline van. He was a painter who had his own business. Back then you had to hand mix your own colors and there was still lead in the paint. Cleaning up required turpentine. Amazing it didn’t make him sick, he’s 90 now. Thank you for this, love the color as well.
Had a 62, three window, black with a white top, put an old bench seat in the back and took my high school sweet hart to the drive-in movies. hope the new owner keeps it stock, a real work horse and fun to drive. 😃
My first vehicle was a 1963 Econoline Falcon Club Wagon. I tore out the inside and put in paneling, carpet and lights then jacked up the back and put some 50 series tires with chrome reverse rims on it. Big time party van fun. Mine came with a 170 CI six but I took that out an put a 200 CI six in from a wrecked Falcon sprint six. I still miss that van.
My 1st vehicle was a 63 Econoline van, sub and automatic. Loved it!🥰 That was at 14, but I didn’t get to drive it for my 16th birthday. Good memories though.
My 67 would get rubber in 1st ”and 2nd with that 300 /6 , 3 on the tree w373 9 inch rears, no v/8 needed although you could custom order anything in them days , great truck!
Dad had a 1968 econoline. Last year in production of this body style I think. It had the engine sitting in the middle. I used to sit on the top of that "dog house" when we drove around town. He had an AC unit mounted on top of it and an early CB radio mounted on the dash. Dad sold it after 10 years replacing it with a new 78 model.
I have a 62 5 window that had a 69 429 w/ c 6 installed by my dad other engins were 170 289 351 4 barrel and 429 next Engin will be a 351 w/ c6 and 275 gears
owned a 65 full windowed back in late 70s was a ton of fun to drive was 17 yo and my dad bought it off a traveling musician who traveled the yukon with it .it had hard plastic bubble covers for the headlights
Always loved the first gen. Last time I was looking for one they prices had skyrocketed. Considering most were work trucks they mostly have manuals. With arthritis that just doesn't work for me anymore.
I saw one in a vintage wheels magazine. That one had a 4 speed on the column. I guess there was no room for a floor shift, with the dog house and the heater box where they were.
Cool, I am sure that went fast being a pick-up and from CA- My Dad had a 63 Econoline. I never remembered how Spartan that interior was until this video- just a box on the floor for the heater- I learned how to drive on the old 3 on the tree, kind of noisy since you were sitting between the engine I love the Corvair braking comparison where the Econoline rear end lifts up like a reverse wheelie upon heavy braking
Nice old survivor. You can repair this whole vehicle with a multimeter and some basic hand tools. Mechanical parts are cheaper than dirt for these, too. They get stuck on a 1/10 of an inch of snow though. LOL.
I had a 64 Econo back in 72... Had the same problem with the speedometer. That was a common thing for the econo's to do. I took it apart and cleaned it up inside, and it worked till I sold the truck.. The engine sounds just about the same as mine did. Mine was a van not a pick up style, although they were popular too. Nice truck. brings back some good memories, even though mine was a customized van for partying.. Back then. Yes, like in hippy, but I diden't have a WV. I had more room.
Hearing a bit of crunch when he shifts into third. Poor weight distribution requires extra concentration to launch without tire chirp. Driver's legs add resilience to the crumple zone. Nice (?) to look at, but no thanks. I'll take a Studebaker Champ.
Wish me luck finding a clutch for my 65 Clubwagon ...ex/airforce ,still got a lot of them military warning stickers. 5 diffrent clutchs for these vans....
Seems like most spedometers in manuals are bouncy. My truck's is a little bouncy, my brother's Foxbody Mustang's is a little bouncy, but I've never seen one that bouncy.
It's a pickup, not a van. Designed from the factory like this. They weren't as common as the vans, but you've seen one or two of these in the road before sometime in your life and just didn't notice or didn't know what you were looking at.
Sorry but ,to me, this the ugliest vehicle ever made. My Dad had a 56 Ford F-100 and the lines and curves on it are beautiful. The Econoline looks like something that the Soviet Union would have built

Put a smile on my face to see one in action again. Was one of my first vehicles!!! Wish I were rich!
He sold it for _$5900_

Knew a guy that hit a pedestrian with an Econoline.
Driver died before the pedestrian could get him to a hospital.
engine noise would get old, but I still love those Vans/Pickups ! Worth way more than $5900 now!

So cool one the Van's I learned to drive on 64 ford mercury back in 1985...slot better than what they've got now ...

Will a V8 even fit in that space? Looks narrow!
Very nice. Looks like a lot of fun to drive.
Always loved the first gen. Last time I was looking for one they prices had skyrocketed. Considering most were work trucks they mostly have manuals. With arthritis that just doesn't work for me anymore.
love those headlight bezels!
Dude nice! That sounds good
Mister,
You are gonna regret selling that
rethink it

A friend had one of these in a window van-it was too heavy for the small engine! Would love to have this!
the weirdest ride ever! so very cool!
Nice old survivor.

Ahh yeah sorry Officer, my speedo is a little "Bouncy" !! Lol : D

Why You sold something like that!!
That Truck is iconic,
With few improvements it becomes one of the best looking old trucks,
BEAUTIFUL ONE!!!
Those trucks are cool lookin'

Man, it sounds great...
Very nice!
so cool!
I drove one for a company in 1972...................Used to burn my right arm on the doghouse top!
I think it may need a valve adjustment.
sweet rig
i believe it had a 240 in it but i could be wrong ...it was along time ago

I'll buy it! Am I too late?
Need to LS swap this bad boy!
170 Straight 6?
Needs at least a clutch adjustment or a transmission rebuild
A tattoo removal would help also
My column shifter wore out , just pulled the steering column out and rebuilding it ! Did you ever do this on your truck ? If you did any tips ?
I will have one a these
Thats a noisy SOB with the motor sitting were its at.
perfect for goin fishin
I never see any in the Now well known Panel van look it was new Shape a new Design a new name Ford Econoline
"Pre" Ford Ranger.
that is a fuckin beast man , That is awesome : D
Solid lifters on the engine?
0-60: eventually.
170 straight six? 144 Straight Six? What motor?
Non original tail gate. Must be out of a pickup
Nice van...To bad he cut the box off or I would have bought it.
@Mikell V
Cut what box off? It doesn’t look like anything has been cut off this truck.

my dad has one
Do you still have it? How much?
Tie your shoes boy
I never liked these. The driver could not possibly be any closer to the crash.
Too bad you couldn't find some one who knew how to drive.
Underpowered as hell. That 144ci inline 6 just didn't have it.
i see u have not had one of these. More than enough power for what they were made to do. I used mine for pushing and puling stumps.
FFVP.
