Hestia’s “power” was very fitting: I don’t know if you knew that but she’s actually one of the original twelve Olympians in Greek mythology (she then “abdicated”, relinquished her place to Dionysus, and then people kinda “forgot” about her) and she was one of the most respected gods in all of the pantheon: Zeus was actually her brother and Hestia was one of the very few people he had an high consideration of (and we know from mythology that Zeus wasn’t exactly known for being respectful and considerate of others)😂 Being Italian I’ll use an Italian expression to describe why this “depiction” of Hestia was extremely fitting: in Italian she’s known as “Dea del Focolare” which roughly translates to “Goddess of the Fireplace” “Focolare” then became a world that indicated not just the fireplace but all the people gathering around it; this world actually became a synonym (and it’s still used today to indicate) of “House” or “Family” So, by praying to Hestia, “the goddess of the fireplace” you were essentially asking her to keep your house, your family, your loved ones safe… In conclusion “fire” and “protection” are two recurring themes whenever it comes to Hestia Hope you all liked this little mythological/linguistic lesson😉
I’ll tell you more: to the Romans Hestia’s name changed (they essentially “copied” Greek divinities, changing their name and sometimes a few attributes) and she became “Vesta” Here’s why Bell’s technique was named “Argo Vesta” that if wrote “Argo Vestae” would literally translate from Latin to “Vesta’s (Hestia’s) Argonaut” And also here “Dios Aedes Vesta” “Aedes” being a synonym for “sepulcher” but originally meaning simply “temple” or “Home” (They were so close to perfection but then they HAD to butcher it with “Dios” instead of “Deus”= “God”, making it half Spanish)😒😂 Moreover in Rome Vesta was such an important figure that she even had her own “priestesses”; they were know as: “Vergini Vestali”, literally “Vesta’s (Hestia’s) Virgins” They were without a doubt the most important priestesses in Roman history and also the most important and influential women in Roman’s society: they were 3/4 (then they became 6) randomly drawn from a pool of 20/30 candidates (little girls of noble families who were about 10 years old) Their “service” lasted for 20/30 years and after they were free to live however they liked… They all had to undergo quite a rigid training, but in Roman society that was EXTREMELY patriarchal they surely were the most free women and had special rights and privileges reserved exclusively for them: they were the only women who could make a will, when they didn’t have to attend their duties in the temple they were free to go out, and when they walked in the streets everyone, including senators and high “magistrates” (in Latin= high ranking government officials) had to step aside and let them through… They could “bestow their grace” to people who were sentenced to death (like a “presidential pardon”) and many other things They only had two obligation: 1) Remain virgins 2) NEVER let Vesta’s (Hestia) fire in the temple extinguish, for WHATEVER reason But even if they “transgressed” these 2 rules and were sentenced to death, they were “special” even in death, because being sacred to Vesta they basically couldn’t be touched (let alone murdered) by human hands, so instead of executing them, they were left to starve to death because “no human being could dare to bring death upon them” I know, the last one is quite creepy😅 But I just wanted to show how much of an importance Hestia had in the ancient world
Vesta is the Roman name of Hestia and Aedes Vesta is the Latin name of her Roman home/temple. In case you forgot she told Bell back at the start of season 4 that Vesta is another name she goes by and Bell incorporated that into Argo Vesta. Omori does his research.
You know the people especially the adventurers are going to be so pissed for Bell.. They 100% gonna be angry at Freya using them like a puppet, but imagine seeing a kid walking around yelling to people and tearing up, every single day telling people he knew all of you and from a different Familia. Not only that, he's also a terrifying person from Freya's Familia, a kid who level up faster than everyone. So, you either keep your distance from him or ignore him. Then the brainwash disappeared, and you realized that the kid that you though as a stranger, well, he's actually a kid you're close to, a good hearted kid, even saved your life once. And everyday as you watched him breaking down more and more as the time passes, you didn't even do anything.
Something the anime skkiped: Ais headed the raid on Folkvangr and after wsaving Ryuu, she had a talk with her where Ryuu realized that indeed Ais is the one Bell loves
Ouranos was saying that if freya charmed them to the point of turning them into mindless puppets then the whole lower world will bite it. But freya purposefully held back to make sure everyone only forgets bell from the hestia familia while still retain their previous personality, so that she can have bell with the city still intact. Also if you remember, hestia told bell of her other name "Vesta" which bell used against the moss huge "Argo Vesta" which means "Hero's Flame" Everyones a victim of freya, herself included 😂
7:36 She actually called him something similar to that in the LN “You brute, feigning harmlessness! Unconscious of your crimes! Enemy to all women! Filth of humanity! Monster who mistakes obviousness for sincerity! If the deities ever erred, it was in creating a foul beast like you! Parasite of original sin tempting all those older than you! Daring even to seduce the sublime goddess! Have some shame!”

Time for the final arc of the season to begin... the fated war between familias. Starting off with inconsistency: - Horn's covered eye is supposed to flash silver-blue while on top of bell (ie, syr's original eye color) Now, for the stuff that was cut or added by the author later on, we have two side stories involving Horn and what the heck she's been doing this whole time. First is a bit where it shows that she's basically going nuts: She scoffed to herself that she was a criminal just like him. Though they expressed it in different ways, Bell and Horn were both unsightly. A twisted empath started to make her expression shift into a smile--but Horn's lip immediately warped in distaste. "Why must i feel so happy at having something in common with you...? This is absurd." The second part of this involves a short where she follows Bell and Heith while they are out for a shopping trip: Bell had been asking about syr, but only realized at one point, that he hadn't seen or met Horn. Weird, right? you'd think that the goddess' attendant would meet him often, but we all know why(the bet). So what does heith do to cover this plot hole? #luckypervertcliche "...Ahh, that's what you mean. It's because you walked in on Horn while she was changing. With the perfect timing, you ended up going into her room while she was changing and ended up getting a perfect look of her in the black lingerie she always wears." "B-black lingerie?!" "And to top it all off, as if by some rule of nature or something, you ended up tripping and falling face-first into her [chest]." "She turned bright red and just let you have it, and afterward she purified herself by dousing her whole body in holy water, hid away in her room without eating or drinking anything for three days and three nights, offering a prayer and a vow to Lady Freya and all the gods and goddesses that she would never appear before you again, never approach you again, and never look at you again." "She went that far?!" - Horn internally screamed that she would never do that, but then realizes that yeah, she probably would From here, bell asked a few more questions and heith answered until he walked away with an explosion of steam coming from his head. Horn then runs up to Heith and is like, WTF HEITH! Heith pushes her off, saying she's covering for her, then asks Horn if she's actually attached to Bell. Horn tries to change the subject and ends asking Heith the same: "Me? I definitely like him." "He is special to Lady Freya, so I would never in a million years do anything inappropriate, but... even if I wasn't the healer assigned to monitor him, I wouldn't mind taking care of him. Compared to the captain and them and their complete and utter lack of interpersonal skills, he's honest and cute." Horn of course berates the idea of liking the boy, but Heith simply states that she isn't necessarily in love with him. She's devoted to Lady Freya, but see's bell as something she can actually befriend and get along with. Heith notices Horn's behavior and ends up questioning her obvious Jealousy. "--Also, could you stop always watching me when i'm talking to him? I can feel you staring from the window of the manor all the time... It's honestly kinda scary." "Wha--?" "You're too desperate. It's almost like you love Bell more than her." Horn blushed redder than she ever had before. Now, because of how long this comment is already, see part two of this in the reply
Ok, for part two of this short story, Horn began watching Bell's Baptism versus the Einherjar. She had been struggling to deal with Freya's increasingly strong emotions towards Bell and became increasingly confused with whose feelings are whose. She eventually came up with a What-if scenario. What if... What is Syr was not Freya...? What if Horn had remained Syr? Would she have been able to love him? If she ran outside right that moment, rushed over to the boy collapsed on the field, held him tight to her, protected him from the einherjar wounding his body, could she be forgiven for doing that--? And when she thought of that what-if, Horn wanted to [off] herself, even if it meant tearing herself free from the goddess's command. Thunderclaps echoed. She could hear the boy's groans and battle cries. And a single drop fell to her feet. There is a bit more following this where horn resolves herself to die in order to save her goddess, then hedin cuts her thoughts off during the scene a couple episodes ago.
"Rrrrole play" Man, I'm loving these last 3 seasons of Danmachi, I don't know what changed, but imho it has gone from being just decent to being great for some reason.
tbf bell only rizzed up older girls to his age cause in lore he is 14... lili is 15 i think aiz is 16 so yeah horn calling him an older women seducer is kinda correct x)
Yeah every god has to use a drop of their ichor/blood to level up their familia members. So I guess for the time of the flame and magic from Hestia her familia was for a second the biggest in the city.
Danmachi season 4 is definitely a step up from previous seasons & this season is easily a couple steps up from season 4. The only weak part of the story is the protagonist himself. Like I'd rather watch a smart guy getting blueball'ed by his crush than a dense guy. I know this is the go-to formula for this type of stories, but just changing a portion of their values/ philosophy will make them just much better. Danmachi is my second favourite this season only under Re:zero. Dandadan just has too much references & I hardly recognize 1 in 10. I'm lost in the sauce half the runtime.

Hestia’s “power” was very fitting: I don’t know if you knew that but she’s actually one of the original twelve Olympians in Greek mythology (she then “abdicated”, relinquished her place to Dionysus, and then people kinda “forgot” about her) and she was one of the most respected gods in all of the pantheon: Zeus was actually her brother and Hestia was one of the very few people he had an high consideration of (and we know from mythology that Zeus wasn’t exactly known for being respectful and considerate of others)😂
Being Italian I’ll use an Italian expression to describe why this “depiction” of Hestia was extremely fitting: in Italian she’s known as “Dea del Focolare” which roughly translates to “Goddess of the Fireplace”
“Focolare” then became a world that indicated not just the fireplace but all the people gathering around it; this world actually became a synonym (and it’s still used today to indicate) of “House” or “Family”
So, by praying to Hestia, “the goddess of the fireplace” you were essentially asking her to keep your house, your family, your loved ones safe…
In conclusion “fire” and “protection” are two recurring themes whenever it comes to Hestia
Hope you all liked this little mythological/linguistic lesson😉
I’ll tell you more: to the Romans Hestia’s name changed (they essentially “copied” Greek divinities, changing their name and sometimes a few attributes) and she became “Vesta”
Here’s why Bell’s technique was named “Argo Vesta” that if wrote “Argo Vestae” would literally translate from Latin to “Vesta’s (Hestia’s) Argonaut”
And also here “Dios Aedes Vesta”
“Aedes” being a synonym for “sepulcher” but originally meaning simply “temple” or “Home”
(They were so close to perfection but then they HAD to butcher it with “Dios” instead of “Deus”= “God”, making it half Spanish)😒😂
Moreover in Rome Vesta was such an important figure that she even had her own “priestesses”; they were know as: “Vergini Vestali”, literally “Vesta’s (Hestia’s) Virgins”
They were without a doubt the most important priestesses in Roman history and also the most important and influential women in Roman’s society: they were 3/4 (then they became 6) randomly drawn from a pool of 20/30 candidates (little girls of noble families who were about 10 years old)
Their “service” lasted for 20/30 years and after they were free to live however they liked…
They all had to undergo quite a rigid training, but in Roman society that was EXTREMELY patriarchal they surely were the most free women and had special rights and privileges reserved exclusively for them: they were the only women who could make a will, when they didn’t have to attend their duties in the temple they were free to go out, and when they walked in the streets everyone, including senators and high “magistrates” (in Latin= high ranking government officials) had to step aside and let them through…
They could “bestow their grace” to people who were sentenced to death (like a “presidential pardon”) and many other things
They only had two obligation:
1) Remain virgins
2) NEVER let Vesta’s (Hestia) fire in the temple extinguish, for WHATEVER reason
But even if they “transgressed” these 2 rules and were sentenced to death, they were “special” even in death, because being sacred to Vesta they basically couldn’t be touched (let alone murdered) by human hands, so instead of executing them, they were left to starve to death because “no human being could dare to bring death upon them”
