GREAT NEWS!

Have you had any trouble with using footage shot in 4K? I shot in 4K 30, and made an edit and it looks great on my desktop but when I upload to RUclips there’s all this crazy aliasing , specifically in the shadows of shots. Wondering if it’s the 4K or just a terrible bitrate on the hero 6
@@woopweep9605 Sounds like a compression problem more than the raw footage being bad quality. Depending on how you export, RUclips will compress it and can degrade the video a lot. Try using a pretty high bitrate (like CBR 90 bit) to upload to youtube
@@Fincky thanks for the response! Makes sense that it's a bit rate thing. I'll try messing around with it.
Will ReelSteady Go work with other action cams with gyro, like the Akaso V50X? Do you know?
@@MrLecvip No It's only for the gopro
MAN!!!
You've just saved my best shot which I could not stabilize!
But your "Fixing Bugs" helped me to fix it!
Many thanks!!!
Thanks for showing your workflow, and for the tips. Very helpful, just over 2 years after posting. Much appreciated!
That tip about dealing with the endless gyro+video sync loop saved the day, thanks Benoit, footage recovered!
Absolutely love your videos! You are the one who is getting me into FPV... Haven't gotten in to it yet but I'm saving money. Can't wait to get into FPV
You will love it!!!
It's an honor if I made you feel like giving a go to this awesome hobby
It costs but worth it.
my bugs in RS Go, is when I stabilize from SD card (Sandisk Ultra A2) it get stuck for life when exporting. (rarely but did happen twice). I use horizon lock in FPV when I film sideways (for example a company logo on a building, I move along that wall) the gopro footage is 45deg since I am moving side ways. I click horizon mode and I have this sweet horizontal pan. I use it also when I was actually tilted when moving forward. It was obvious since I was high in the sky and you could see the horizon. I enabled horizon lock and boom perfect shot. Thanks for those great tricks bro!
These are some really good uses of horizon lock! I'll try that out!
Thank you for sharing your workflow and tips Fincky, always helps to hear how different people work with their footage ;)
Sure man! My pleasure!
Thanks Ben, I'm new to RSGO, your tutorial just helped me big time, all wobbles now gone 😎
I did have that weird bug where it was stuck onto the gyro syncing forever. Reelsteady support was really good to solve it for me.
How did they fix that for you? The same thing is happening to me.
@@sebgodsmark2807 you can do it yourself by removing the file that RSGO created, and duplicate an existing one you have and rename it with the file name of the file you just deleted
Thanks so much man. You helped me get reelsteady to work perfectly
Thank you so very much! Two Reelsteady Go clips saved from deletion.
Can't count how many times I've come back to this video :D
So listen, what dictates your choice between 4K30 and 2.7K60, is it that you only go for the 60fps when you know you'll have more speed/proximity or is it a decision based on balancing the shutter speed with the lighting?
Usually, I just choose based on wether or not we'll do some fast action or if I know they're gonna wanna slow things down. My go to for 95% of what I film is 2.7k 60fps but sometimes I go for 4k30
thank you for the video very well explained, what do you recommend as a computer for Reelstaedygo? thank you 😉
Hi, if you can help me. I have a naked gopro 6 and I use reelsteady. I have a macbookair with M1. Reel steady does not analyze videos in 2.7K at 60 frames for me, only at 30 frames. The image becomes a little blurry after it is processed. Unfortunately without the monitor I can not longer adjust the shutterspeed and the ISO. Is there any way to solve these problems? Thank you
Hi! Thank you so much for your video! Do you have any tips to avoid this extreme stretched edge areas that come with flying indoors?
Hi, amazing video, I have a problem. When I click on save video, even if I’m rendering a really short video it says rendering... but nothing is happening. I let it render for about 3 hours but nothing changed. I also tried to re-download the program and quit and reopen it multiple times but nothing changed. Can you help me?
Awesome vid! I hope you don't start wearing eyeliner. :)
Haha! Promise I won't :D

I have a lot of jitters in my video after i used reelsteady, the video was really shaky before.
4k30 60Shutter with ND Filter.
Do you now why this does happen?
I had a gopro 6 on an FPV drone with the settings of 2.7K 60 FPS, 4:3 Aspect Stabilization off, GPS off, ISO Max and min 100, Audio Off but the footage still looks a bit shaky and wobbly. Any convenient solution for that?
Hello, deux questions sur la parametrage gopro : 1. Tu utilise le mode wide ou superview ? 2. Tu bloques le shutter au 50eme ou shutter auto ? merci pour ton tuto !!
Thank you so much Fincky! So useful and interesting to all us cinewhoop fpv fans... Keep the good work!!! :)
My pleasure honestly!
Hello Fincky! Thanks for what you are doing for the Fpv community, i love your videos and you are such a big inspiration on the scene. Actually i brought RSGo (thanks for your coupon) and i have a question for you about resolutions and Nd filters. What do you mean with locked shutter and iso. The other day i was shootting on 2,7K 60 1/120 and 100iso with a nd16 on a very sunny day. My problem is that i got not a good motion blur effect and also no matter if im exporting on 60fps or 30 that i can never get the smoothness of your videos, i mean the cinematic effect is a bit gone. Any tip on whats the rule for shutter/fps/ndfilters using RSgo to can get this cinematic smoothness like on your 30fps videos? They really look like 60. Another problem i found is that when uploading a 60fps to youtube it always get random pixel artifacts during the video, i know YT bit rate for 60fps is not enought for fast movement while playing it on the phone app due to 1080 max resolution (on computer at 4k is not a problem). Thats why i would like to hear from you how to get this 60fps smoothness on a 30fps video as yours. Thanks in advance 🙏🏻
When I film 2.7k 60fps, I usually use an ND32 and 1/120 or even 1/240 on a bright day. The common mistake is to try and make it to exposed RSGO doesn't like that.
Alos when editing, always put it in a 30fps timeline and export like that, the result on RUclips will always be better ;)
@@Fincky How do you make sure it's no overexposed? Trying to figure out how to change exposure settings on Hero 6 and do you just do the tap to auto select exposure or?
Thank you for the wonderful video fincky! I definitely learned a lot :) I'm quite interested to know the gopro settings iso/white balance & shutter speed for the video that you were editing on..
Metadata issue can be fixed if you copy the full directory from your card. I think it's because of loosing file adress...or something like this.
Thanks i will try that !
Shot on 4k 30fps with a 1/60 shutter but the footage was choppy. Any solution for a choppy footage?
Thanks for sharing dude, that was helpful.
ever use the sync point adjustment feature?
Really helpful vid buddy! Thanks.
I bought RSG after I was able to process a vid from my Session 5.
I used a mount that used Zip Ties to isolate the session 5.
Have not tried my Hero7 yet.
Not sure if you have any experience with using the Session 5 but have a couple questions.
After RSG finishes reading the gyro data from the Session 5 should I delete all the green key
frames and then add them like you explained?
Also I have tried 2.7K 4:3 30FPS on the Session 5. Won't let me go over 30FPS in that mode.
I'm wondering if maybe 1440 60FPS might be better on a Session 5 with RSG?
Thanks again for the awesome vid :)
nice. Rendered video: what codec, bitrate, etc? Any settings panel for that?
Same question. Everything is automatically rendered at an ugly 1080p, low bit rate. What am I missing?
Thanks very much for tips! Sometimes I have shaking in my reelsteady-smoothed video in the places where there was not shaking in the unsmooted version, while the rest is smooth. Any tips how to fix it?
Try changing the sync point to another place and you might be running a shutter speed that's a little low like if it's less than 4 times the frame rate, this happens more often
Fincky Thanks a lot! Can it be the case that something is preventing my flex GoPro mount from moving freely (like battery wire), hence messing with gyro data?
Do you have image stabilisation on or off on the gopro settings?
Benoit, mon chum. J'ai une simple question. Do you lock exposure on the gopro? (you long press with one finger on the screen for like ~3sec and then you have the option to lock or auto exposure) I fly a cinewhoop and go from dark place to very bright place in the same shot. Inside the forest to outside. when I don't lock exposure, you can clearly see the gopro change it for you in the footage and that does not look professional. So I lock the exposure when I am in the forest, so video is good until I fly in day light and it becomes SUPER over expose and that ruins my shot! Same when I lock in bright open space, when I enter building or forest, it's very dark. I can not save it in post. What do you do or have any suggestions!?
Great question! I've been using locked exposure more and more! I use it when I don't have an ND on me basically. But yeah, one of the downsides is that you can't really go from bright to dark or the opposite. Sometimes you just have to keep it auto and then you play with the exposure in your video editing software of choice to counter the effect when it's transitioning but it's super annoying! Or you just try to find some middle ground between the two, it's not easy but it's possible, I'll always favor the bright side thought as dark stuff can be brought back to life (to some extent) while an overexposed image is just dead. Merci pour cette question
What happens of you use auto shutter? Mainlyy bc i dont have an nd filter.. ive tried loading a clip to reel steady tho but i get an error message saying sorry parser failed to parse movie.. what am i doing wrong?
I have a macbook from 2010 and stabalising a video takes me a day. So it's time to upgrade, any recommendations for a worstation that would do well for our kind of video work?
I want to try before buy the software but when i import my video on realsteady go demo version i have a red message : invalid movie no metadata found reelsteady go. I don't know why can you help me ? (I have a Gorpo hero 6 black with 2.10sw)
My camera settings : 2.7k 4/3 60 fps - protune on - stabilisation off - auto audio on
Je me disais bien que le parking dans ton rush me disait quelque chose 😂
Merci pour les explications 🙏🏻
Hi need help after rendering my 1080 ciniwhoop footage on horizon lock the output was streatched out and was very jerky. I was running on trial version on windows 7 to see if its working before buying it.
Awesome man! very helpful! Gonna use it in my next video for sure!
Awesome!
Pretty cool walkthrough - but looks pretty different for me with the Hero7 and session 5 ! I have a lil qucktip that i do preflight right in the moment before you plug in your XT60...grap your quad and do a "360" with your quad in the hand and your running gopro - than start flying... BTW my V20.1 of the RSgo compatible Softmount is working for all the Gopros ;-)
Very good video, explaining all the workflow basically.
Using a Session5 or Hero7 is really a no go?
it can be done with softmounted mounts but for the sake of simplicity, I just use the Hero 6
What kind of video card do you suggest to have for a flawless editing with the Reelsteady Go?
Learned alot! thanks, what firmware do you recommend for hero session 5 ?
Thanks for the vid you answered a bunch of my question! I've seen people saying a ND filter will not let RSgo work correctly, but you mention it will work. I have a hero 6, what strength ND filter do you use and do you slightly underexpose when using it?
It will work! I mostly use an ND16 or ND32 at speeds from 1/120 to 1/240 for 60fps
Subbed and bought the Reelstead GO at 95$ with the coupon added. Thanks for the video bro! I think I won’t be upgrading to Hero 7, will stick to the 6 black for now 😅
Merci pour les astuces et surtout pour l'inspiration!
Great informative video
Super helpful!
Happy to help 😊
So what is the difference or benefit or advantage in using Reelsteady instead of the stabilization feature included in an NLE (like Davinci Resolve or Adobe Premiere)?
Reelsteady GO is based on the gyro data so it knows exactly what’s going on with the footage and stabilizes it in a much much smoother way with a lot less to fiddling required (with the downside that you have to go with the result it’s got for you). It also adds dewarps the footage (downside is you can’t get it without) and adapts based on how shaky things are automatically.
@@Fincky Thanks for the info. Does Reelsteady only work with GoPro footage or can it be used with footage from other brands of gyro stabilized cameras?
Is it possible to have high bitrate in output videos?
Nice video mate,
you did not talk about your actual gopro stabilisation settings on the camera itself. Do you turn leave it on or turn it off?
You're right! I forgot to speak about it! It needs to be OFF at all times!!!
nice video..
how about 02.01 fw, are the results different compared to 1.6 gopro fw?
wondering the same!
hi and thanks for all the tips but i still have a weird problem, after i shoot a warptime video i tried the trick with the copy bin file like u showed on the vid but when i started to render, it got stuck after few seconds...do u have any idea what can i do ?
Hm... i don’t think it works on timewarps! Best is to shoot is normal and then apply RSGO to it with the « time lapse » feature for that type of shot
Do i have to downgrade the firmware to 1.6 on the hero8 as well? Or is a just a hero6-thing?
No, on the Hero 8, you should get the GoPro Labs firmware available with a google search
Thank you very much!
NIce one sir. I have issue with 2.7 60 frames with ND 8 sometime RSGO gives me very jerky footage not always. Dont know why any clue sir? If i fly 6 lipos i get issue with 2 sometimes
Very likely, your key points aren’t placed properly? Do you fly in areas with a lot of the same blue sky and something like a field with little detail? These spots usually make it harder, you need détail to place your key points. If it’s jerky, delete everything and try other key points
@@Fincky Thanks but same spot if i fly 6 lipos 3 might come good. Why does that happen? It usually come good with default point i never have added points. I have noticed 2.7 30 frame with ND8 comes good always. I face issue with 60 frame. Does that make any sense?
@@outboxfpv4360 Just deleted the original points and try different ones as shown in the video, it will work eventually but it can take a few tries
Very nice video thank you very much for sharing !
Thanks
How is the Hero 8 working for you? Same mounting and settings?
Yes it does! Same mount, same settings everything :)
Fincky, Great! Thank you!
Have you tried reelsteady go with a hero8? Just wondering how it works compared to reelsteady and a hero6.
I have! and, it wasn't out at the time of the realise of this video but now it is working perfectly with the Hero8 and it's beautiful. Same workflow as on the 6
@@Fincky does hypersmooth 2.0 with boost render reelsteady go unnecessary? Or is reelsteady footage better than hypersmooth? I ask cause im sure you have a more discerning eye than I do.
Can you share your cinewhoop specs
Super helpful thank you :)
will my hero 8black be ok like the 6
Hi fincky ! ty for your videos ! It help a lot ! I've a question with reelsteadygo, I'm using it a lot with a gopro 6 black, it work really well, but why often one or two shots from de gopro are not stabilized after using reelsteadygo ? I've been on reelsteady.com to figure out every settings of my go pro, everything looks fine but I'm not locking the shutter, only the iso it can be a problem ? (all the settings are like yours) Thanks in advance for your response !
(I've try all your issues)
Do I need to enable Protune? It's necessary to lock shutter, iso.. No?
yes of course!
Really good explained mate! 🤯👍
Cheers!
Another awsome video from you, thank you so much! You're great!!
By the way, apart from your perfect new Pirate frame and the "legal" real-feed TV one, what is the frame & setup you use to film close to people, like in the martial arts and in the music videos? Do you have ducted fans setups to suggest, maybe? :D
Thanks a lot man! Yes, I use cinewhoops with ducted fans to work close to people. I use the Squirt V2 and I'm really digging it
Thanks a lot, really helpful 😊👍🏼.
Love this video Man ! ^^
@Fincky: Which sharpening setting do you prefer on the Hero 6?
Medium sharpness, always!
You are the Mr. Steele of the EU. Haha no J/K I love all your vids. Cheers!
How does Superview affect Realsteady? Do you have it on or off?
Ian Murphy in 4:3 their only one option which is the full sensor
Really useful tutorial! :]
Happy to help
Thanks man!
Doesn't realsteady get a bit confused whenever you are doing flips and rolls?
Not necessarily
Thank you so much
What’s the reelsteady go vs the full size one ($400)?
full size one is also an add-on for other video editing softwares (like after effects)
The $400 one works on After Effect with ANY camera and is more customizable but a lot slower, like 10 to 20 times slower, takes hours for a 1min clip and has to be played with a lot while Reelsteady GO is only for GoPro and is a lot faster and easier to use, I haven't used the AE version since RSGO came out but it's still good to have
I am using hero 5 but getting vibrations hence rsgo messes it up
This video saved my ass!!
Mate...you dont use superview? Or am I missing something and you can do superview and 4:3
The gopro uses the 4:3 image to create superview, so essentially, 4:3 is superview :)
@@Fincky yup, but superview is kinda effect which expand 4:3 more to sides, so superview is, in fact, bigger than 4:3, it makes 16:9 from 4:3. Unfort, there is no option to capture superview on bigger resolution, but, theoretically, if you put 2.7K 4:3 frame inside 16:9 timeline and expand it like GoPro do it by itself - you will get even more. I find that superview footage works better with RSgo, 4:3 gets more cropped, sometimes it look like you fly with 35-40mm lens (FX) - it is not very nice.
Koshen_Bz_FPV also the distorted edges is too much with 4:3? Cmiiw
did some tests today with my GoPro 6 black, 30 FPS would NOT work for me, even with a shutter locked at 1/120th. The results came out miserable. The only way I can get smooth footage is with 60fps with shutter at about 1/240th. It appears Reelsteady GO needs a lot of frames in order to smooth out properly
I don’t know, I’ve shot a lot of stuff at 4K 30fps that came out beautiful. Sometimes it depends on the light a bit...
@@Fincky really?! I just can not get it to work.. i've tried all different shutters. so weird. It comes out worse than it was prior to the stabilization. tried at sunset and mid afternoon.
@@jakesouthard9175 It's all about setting the right keypoints
@@Fincky at the beginning of the clip and then at the end? this might've just solved my problem. Just got a smooth clip out of my 4K 30fps shot
@@jakesouthard9175 Yeah you need to delete the original ones and place new ones in places where the horizon is visible and the drone is going fairly straight. Really happy if it helped you :)
