Dr.Manzur Ejaz we cannot thank you enough for this wonderful and awesome translation of a priceless piece of Punjabi Poetry! When growing up in Indian Punjab in the 1970's and 1980's we were taught Shakespeare's Merchant of Venice and we were told by our Colonial minded English based teachers that there is nothing better than Shakespeare. Now after reading Waris Shah's Heer and listening to such a wonderful translation, I our past and our languages are much richer and superior! Shakespeare fades in comparison. The British should have taught Heer in their schools! Each Punjabi and indeed every South Asian on both sides of the border should know this beautiful piece of literature by heart. British Colonialism made us shameful and feel inferior even though our culture and languages are much richer than the White European races.
