You might enjoy Sailing Into Freedom, it's a sailing channel with an Australian guy with a fun sense of humor. He's had some wild adventures too. Now he's in Vietnam building an aluminum catamaran with no combustible fuel, to sail around the world. He's got a lot of videos with fun people from the past too.

They had solar panels, so electricity. 2 familles are said to live there. Please remember that the Tuamotus are part of French Polynesia. Operative word here is French. All the islands receive subsidies from France. They get free medical if they can go to a hospital, etc

Interesting Atoll! Is fishing an industry that supports the people? Pearl farming? Did the man who conducted the tour talk about pearl farming? Where are their boats? Moringa is a great herb! Too bad the chickens and pigs aren’t on soil. I wonder if they use fish emulsion for fertilizer or strictly chicken manure? The gardens look like they are thriving. Thank you Ben and Ashley for sharing about this Atoll in the Tuamotu Islands.

It's very interesting to see them growing vanilla that way. It grew wild on a tree outside my house in Costa Rica. It grows wild like other orchids, but a vine type. So it makes sense that it needs shade because it lives under the canopy in the wild.

I liked your introspective observations of their lives and your lives and the extention into all our lives. Perspective is a good word. We can't make blanket statements about right or wrong any of them. We should all live our chosen life and leave others to theirs without judgment. You did that.

Nice tour. Perhaps this place is seasonal and people continue to work back home to afford this lifestyle part of the year. Perhaps they are working towards retirement. The reasons do not have to be ominous. There will always be the critics no matter what the topic or place. It looks like they are doing something amazing. Good for them. Thanks for the tour.

Sarcasm? They basically set a premise that they found a cult and proceeded to judge based on some religious signage.
They found caretakers of a retreat facility. But needed to hook their RUclips audience with a catchy title.

@@bridges8263 They said they liked it. They compared it to their own lifestyle. They're allowed to wonder. Seemed nonjudgmental to me. There's absolutely nothing wrong with questioning belief systems. The world would be a better place if we all questioned our belief systems.

I appreciated your approach as polite guests while on their? island. This atoll is not a desert, there is two resorts close to the airport. On a big atoll named Rangiroa, less than 30 Nm away, there is a vinyard (north shore). It is not easy but almost every thing can grow over here, the main issue is to get water as there is very few rain episode.

Great video! That's the thing about religion, I was brought up Catholic and now consider my self not very religious for various reasons but we did baptize our kids Episcopalian just for the simple reason that, I'd rather have them growing up believing in something than believing in nothing and not having a sense of good and evil. I guess church on Christmas and maybe easter i better than nothing. 😜 That place looks like it peaked quite a few years ago. It isn't very easy to get to, that's for sure. They should ask people to bring a bag of soil with every visit.

You know, sometimes I’m just so shocked at the apparent rudeness of People, wouldn’t the People who made the comments about the Pig’s being “Nasty”, (Pig’s ARE naturally “Nasty”) & without Water, be embarrassed to find out that they had been put in the pens only when “Visitors” were there. (Maybe to protect them from the “Nasty People”!) They certainly didn’t look as if they had missed any meals or water, & they had the “Muscles” that they do Not get from living in “Pens”, but from roaming & living “Free”. I loved this & have only admiration for what appears to be highly intelligent, resilient People that we can learn much from, about ourselves……….

Well, this one was just a bit bizarre. That there are no other people there really does make you wonder. Does "the prophet" enforce slave labor or is it just him and his family there? That it shows so much decline is just a sad reality of trying to live so far off the grid -- never mind if it's leader is beneficent or maleficent; and your "tour" leaves us with more questions than answers.
