Nice reaction. You know , I never got the impression the aliens were trying to kill any of the humans just possess and preserve them. Like you point out out they had every reason and opportunity to kill Bryn but didn't. To be honest i don't remember them even trying to kill her. I think they were curious as to why they couldn't catch her and why the parasite would not take so they looked more close at her and decided she was to damaged and traumatised to enable them to successfully possess her. The aliens saw that she longed for forgiveness and community and believed that given she would not buck or cause them any problems. Maybe they also felt a bity sorry for her so they decide she's not a threat, she's been through enough, lets throw her back and let her be. Hell, maybe it will even be fun to interact with her, and they do. In Australia If certain fish are to small you have to throw them back, I think a similar principle is at work in this story. I loved it.
