영화의 꿈
“우리의 꿈들 중 상당수는 처음에는 불가능해 보였다가, 이후 이루어지기 어려워 보이다가, 의지를 불러내면 곧 필연이 된다” (크리스토퍼 리브). 영화는 말 그대로 꿈의 형상이다. 영화인들의 희망과 열망 그리고 많은 경우, 영감 자체가 바로 이 꿈에서 시작되기 때문이다. 한편 영화제는 이러한 영화적 꿈들을 한자리에 모아 관람할 수 있는 자리를 마련해 준다. 꿈과 그 꿈을 꾸는 사람이 하나이듯, 영화와 영화인 또한 떼놓을 수 없는 하나인 것이다.

A Dream of Film
’’So many of our dreams at first seem impossible, then they seem improbable, and then, when we summon the will, they become inevitable’’ (Christopher Reeve). Films are the stuff of dreams, literally, as they embody filmmakers’ hopes and aspirations and, in many cases, serve as their direct inspiration. Meanwhile, festivals act as collectors of these filmic dreams, effectively ’’catching’’ them before presenting them to audiences. If a dream and its dreamer are one and the same, indivisible and irreducible, then so too are a film and its filmmaker.
