Hey there! I'm always glad to see the love of Pac-Attack being spread! I really think that each console version of Pac-Attack made gradual improvements in gameplay and features found in the original Cosmo Gang: The Puzzle SFC port. And like the labors of love that were both versions of Pac-Attack in Namco Anthology 2, your video's in-depth analysis and attention to detail really shows your love for the game at its core. Thanks for the video and crediting my comment on Reddit! In return, I want to fill you in on some things: 36:22 - The in-game reset button combo for the PS1 versions is Up + Start. 1:53 - Like @shalpp said, the Mega Genesis version found in Namco Anthology 2 is actually a port, and I think the only one in both Namco Anthologies to be based off of a Sega console instead of a Nintendo one. I believe this version was made first (more on that down below) as it shares a lot of the same quirks that weren't explicitly changed in the remake. 16:40 - Both pieces that you mention appearing multiple times in a row is not exclusive to the PS1 version, I've seen it happen on the original Mega Genesis version. The truth is that the pieces you get aren't random (at least on Genesis); it's a pattern that's 1024 pieces long, broken up by Pac-Man, fairies, reaching levels that change how long Pac shows up, and the level 0 Pac only freebies. 25:03 - All Puzzle Mode stages have a mirrored layout on Mega Genesis. Compared to the SNES, some puzzles were altered, even moved to other stage numbers! I assume this was done for Appendix Puzzle Mode. 40:37 - Funny that you mention wanting the lines in the remake's Versus Mode to be something you could fill in; I found some unused sprites in the classic port that seemed to suggest they considered it! There were sprites of the ghosts turning into bricks, and also some sprites of them with skulls on their backs. I couldn't find anything to prove if it was implemented in the final version though; but it definitely seems like the devs were beta testing the secret modes in the classic port at one point. 42:33 - Novice difficulty in the remake's Versus Mode IS busted! Not only does the fairy meter fill up fast, but the amount of clears needed to destroy silver lines, as well as ghosts needed to earn a fruit also decrease, two things that don't change with the other difficulties. 43:38 - The "skull mode" option replaces the two rows of ghosts that you normally get by canceling the fairy with three individual "death" ghosts. You can tell them apart by the angry glare they constantly give you, even when vulnerable. Upon being eaten by Pac-Man, he dies on the spot, potentially ruining chain setups. The ghost pathing system is completely unaware of their presence, showing you the whole chain that you could've ate. On the plus side, if your fairy destroys them, you get a huge chunk of fairy dust compared to normal ghosts. Again, thank you for making this video. If this information was around 23 years ago, maybe we could've had complete versions of Pac-Attack legally outside of Japan.
to be fair i haven't played Museum+ since it came out so i kinda forgot which instances of the pac-family got replaced and which stayed the same. the only reason i brought it up in my pac-land and pac-man arrangement videos is because, at the time of their release, museum+ was still new and fresh in my mind
never knew pac-attack was a reskin. also didn't know those lil alien characters and other things from dig dug arrangement from classic collection 2 came from that. the more ya learn
Huh that ps1 version is really neat. I only ever had the Xbox/GBA collections myself. I'll have to give it a shot. What a wild final score though haha.
I guess the original Pac-Attacks are based on the original game's code, which was tied to an arcade game. And, of course, making your home version play blatantly better than its arcade original while said original's still new enough to matter could cost the company some arcade sales. After all, why would an arcade owner spend so much money on a game that has a blatantly better version on home console?

Pac-Attack is highly addictive. The box said so.
they weren't lying!
@ahbeef You forgot to mention that the Museum+ version replaced Ms Pac Man and Baby Pac Man on the SNES high score screen bg with Pac Mom and Pac Sis

I absolutely love the novice theme in the PS1 version something about it feels so transcending and relaxing

Super happy to see the Pac-Man marathon is still going!

This is cool thanks
Great job on the video!
So that classic version in anthology isn't emulation but a very close port (sound effects are shared between both versions in just a few cases)
WE'RE SO BACK‼️‼️‼️🗣️🗣️🗣️🔥🔥🔥

Pac-Attack? I hardly knew 'em!
You should make color coded diagrams of all the championship edition mazes
it wouldn't be your favorite puzzle game if you played land maker
youre a cap maker
@@ahbeef and you make caps like a Pac Attack from the ps1!
