this is why I hate working on Macs with blender - none of the tutorial keys work for me! I can't left click and drag - don't even have the fn key on my keyboard ! IMO they're not the best computers for 3d work and they make it so much harder to be intuitive
i agree
Wow, Thanks so much! this is really cool, is there anyway to adjust the randomness or the rotation of the scattered objects?
You can use Geometry Nodes for that.
anyone, kindly answer, when i scatter object, does it increase the polycount in the scene ? coz i dont think so it should but it is in my scene and i was wondering if there is any way around it
there is no way to unlik the primary object, and make the other indepents?
all I get is an orange line that never goes away and some lavender spots here and there that are not my object. ? How can I screw this up? I made a simple cube. applied all transforms. colored it brown. Selected my box then my plane then drew and it made an orange line then it put a FEW purple spots out but in solid, material or render view, I dont' see the 85 instances of my box it SAID it put out. any ideas?
did you press ENTER? my numpad does not sense me pressing enter, I HAVE TO use the Giant ENTER BUTTON below the backspace, above the shift.
@BunnyBunniee nope. I had no idea that I needed to press the enter key. I later discovered how to manage to do it. It works but I realize it's kind of clunky. I have a few other scatter meth0ds to use l8ke gscatter and my own geonode thing I made from tutorials but I was just seeing what this one did. Thx for the reply.
@@TruthSurge oh yay! I am glad you got it all figured out. ☺☺☺
@@BunnyBunniee I'm still learning to APPLY ALL TRANSFORMS! :)
In my add ons list in Blender 4.2, there is no option for the Scatter Objects add on. Has it been removed or renamed?
You have to install it in blender itself by going to preferences -> Get extensions -> search and install Scatter object -> then check the Add-Ons section again
is it possible to scatter an object not on a plane, but for example on a model of a hand? Because I can't do it
So useful! Thank you for the tutorial!
Best demo of this feature I've seen. Thanks
Nice for objects that don't have a particular orientation the need to be in.
great video, thanks!
My new favourite add on
How to attach object to scatter?
If you just hide an object it will appear on render, so its really annoying.
One method I use for that is reducing the alpha blend to zero
you just need to turn it of from render, its a camera icon near an eye
@@tarazz Man, I am blender user since 2012, do you really think I need to turn an EYE icon on?
no, not an eye, a camera icon :D btw, i just wanted to help lol@@WillFalcon
New fave toy. Thank you.
thanks for making this tutorial!
that is very cool but how you delete the original object? so it not shows in the render
u can turn it off from rendering and viewport, it's a separate sub-object in the scatter collection
@@JuraKudrik it is? thank you, I will try
