I gotta say, as an SF Giants fan, I despised this guy to no end. He was the perfect manager to hate for a team I detested. And he played it up like no one: Before the game, walking onto the pitcher's mound and blowing us kisses at Candlestick. Looking back, I have nothing but the greatest memories of the greatest fun with this guy as the skipper of our enemy. There is no one else more fun-loving, and respectable. He knows how to share the complexities, complications, victories and defeats of living. I am so thankful to having had him as the Dodger's manager. What great times! I absolutely love remembering him. And this is spoken from a fan of his biggest rival ballclub. If he can instill in me so much admiration, imagine how big his heart actually was. I miss this son of a gun in the worst way.
Sir, you are a truly great baseball fan and a heck of a good human being. Reading your comment put a smile on my face as I was reminded that fans of the opposing team (Giants in this case) are not the enemy, but rather, they are people who are just supporting a different team. It is such an obvious point, but sometimes in the midst of a heated rivalry, I need to be reminded of such an obvious point by good people like yourself.
I'm watching Silver Spoons and Rick said the only hall of fame Tommy Lasorda is a shoe in for is the pasta hall of fame. That was in 1987. He made it in 10 years later.
Tommy you were a HALL OF FAMER off the FIELD also. My Great Grandsons Billy and Timmy LOVED seeing and talking to you at your GOLF outings - ITALIAN AMERICAN SPORTS HALL OF FAME. THANKS FOR THE MEMORIES. PAPA
I was a Yankee fan growing in So Cal in the 70's and 80's. Let me say this...I have the utmost respect, love, and admiration for Tommy Lasorda, Vin Scully, and the entire Dodger organization. Modern baseball is so bland and PC compared to mouths like Tommy, Billy Martin, and Earl Weaver...they are all sorely missed.
I had to look it up to see if he made it, I was pretty sure he did. This whole Silver Spoons episode revolves around cornering the market on Tommy Lasorda baseball cards and guess what he made an appearance at the end of the episode with a box full of his cards.
May they engrave the 2020 season on your tomb and you and all of us can see that game 6 of the World Series on there and remember we did it one more time for you, for Nancy and for Vin. Be at peace.
He thanked the people who gave him the opportunity to become a manager. He thanked Tony Danza and two basketball coaches. But he did not thank the players who performed well for him, whose winning ways are the reason he was elected to the Hall of Fame.
Living proof that if your a loudmouthed blowhard & master of self promotion that you to can possibly one day be manager of the great L.A. Dodgers, as well.
I'm a Dodger fan and I totally agree with you. Lasorda should only get into the Hall by buying a ticket. He was a bad manager when it came to strategy and burning out great starting pitchers. Tommy always seemed to be at least a step behind the opposing manager. Bochy, conversely achieved so much more with much less talent at his disposal.

I’m so glad that Tommy and Vin Scully got the chance to see their Dodgers win one more World Series before they both passed away. ❤
The greatest ambassador the game ever had. And a brilliant baseball mind.
Rest in Peace a true "Hall of Famer" 🙏
Excellent speech.May the Big Dodger In The Sky bless and keep Tommy.

How does this only have 30k views?
F’ing Legend!

Heartfelt

Tommy Lasorda & Walter Alston are the best managers the Dodgers ever had. Six championships between them. God bless Tommy Lasorda.
I agree with you and Alston and Lasorda are as different as two people can be.
Simply irreplaceable!
Beautiful emotion from another Italian! Ya Tommy!
No f bombs, a miracle
That’s what we do. Paisans can’t hide or fake emotions.
Love how he wasn't afraid to honor Campanis!
Just about 70 here
Rest in Peace Tommy. You are a National Treasure.
Congratulations Tom LA sorta. God blessed.
God Bless you Tommy !!! !!! !!! !!! !!! !!! !!!
Soo good!
What a baseball man he was
Thank you 🙏🏼 Tommy
I love that candle story
Rest in Blue Heaven Tommy.
Wonderful speech
The BEST!! ❤❤❤
Lasorda the real MVP
Oh that time he sat down with us to have a meal together. I thought I was dreaming!
saw it live
The man!
That was perfect
Tommy! Great guy.
good speech
Legend

Miss Tommy's personality in the game.
I wish he had yelled and cursed the whole speech for old times sakes
Tommy lasorda= mr dodger
He didn't mention any of the players who made it possible for him to be there.
softyme63 he did 1:00 in
He is in the Hall yet Pete Rose is not.
Not worth visiting.
Actually he did, look at the video again
"' I was a Yankee Fan.... Whitey"
totally ripped off Drysdale's induction speech...
Ni F bombs??
October 18, 1977...Tommy's worst nightmare! Reggie Jackson's 3 HR'S!
kind of a generic emotionless speech, not much here. Sparky Anderson's was much more heart felt.
I'm a Dodger fan and I have to agree. I think Tommy had already given too many $10K corporate speeches by this time. Sparky was the best.
Living proof that if your a loudmouthed blowhard & master of self promotion that you to can possibly one day be manager of the great L.A. Dodgers, as well.
So I guess Mike Scioscia is going to the Hall of Fame?
Botch deserves it, not Lasorda
