I Just Arrived In Trinidad Port Of Spain - My First Time In Trinidad

- This is a quick intro episode showing my arrival and the journey to my villa, currently staying in an area called Arouca, 10 mins from the airport and 30 mins from the centre of port of spain.
The accomodation is called PineRidge Hideaway and the prices are very reasonable , much better than hotels as they can be very pricey out here. Of course this is if you dont mind self catering and cleaning up after yourself lol.
Best way to get around is by using ride share apps, they dont have UBER here so the best apps to use are aLLRidi which is the cheapest and TTrs which is the next best one and both apps take cash and has the same layout as uber and Lyft. Other private Taxis will over charge you.
The crime here is really bad and not going to sugarcoat it, but as along as you manoeuvre sensibly and safetly, you'll be fine and don't be deterred from visiting this amazing island. The people are generally nice and welcoming.
Stay tuned for more vlogs from trinidad and tobago

Years ago we landed at Piarco Airport for the West Indies v England test match. We were at the end of a long line. An official came up to us and said "You here for the cricket?" We said yes and he took us right to the front. Fantastic people in this country. In addition to Holding, Marshall and Richards we saw The Mighty Sparrow.
Oh nice. That sounds like a good experience. A nice way to be welcomed
As a citizen of trinidad I am telling You be careful but enjoy yourself welcome to Trinidad y Tobago 🇹🇹🇹🇹
Thanks bro , thanks for having me in your nice island. I’m. Definitely keeping safe , I realise how bad it can be 🤦🏾♂️
Wats ah low budget airport yeow?? 😮
@@deomaharaj404 one with no automated bag drops, automated immigration checkpoints where you can just swipe your passport to get through etc.
@@teflontravels Coming soon! 😅
@@stillirise7813 I’m staying here now and I’ve got used to it. 🤣👌🏾.
Absolutely love this place
Just found your channel great video ❤❤your accommodation was on point cheers from Orlando ✌️✌️
You’re very welcome, glad you like 😎🙌🏾
Do you know that you can take a boat to Tobago? The boats are large and very modern with comfortable seating. The trip only take 2-3 hours and you'll save money, and enjoy watching the coast lines of the two islands. It is a beautiful trip. Try it next time. I enjoy watching your videos.
Thanks for watching. I get sea sick so I won’t be trying that lol
Great video. I've never seen Trinidad. Can you describe the crime problems more??
Thanks for stopping by. From what I’ve been told by the locals the crime rate is quiet high in Trinidad but only in certain parts of the island. Just like most countries you bad areas and good and affluent areas.
There some petty crime in the centre of Port of Spain but if you manoeuvre correctly you’ll be totally fine. Since I been here I haven’t had a single bad experience. I highly recommend and don’t let the crime scare deter you from visiting. Tobago is a lot more peaceful and chilled out
@@teflontravels That's great. Maybe you could discuss all that in greater detail. On certain groups online people seem to discourage traveling or even retiring to Trinidad, exactly as people do about Jamaica. It's rather depressing the way people are more negative about Trinidad and Jamaica than anywhere else..... do you have videos on Tobago too? Also about things like cost of living, lifestyle, etc .in TT? Thanks
You’re totally right. I’ll do an episode discussion this after i finish uploading all the videos from the trip
Can you describe you mother front.
That 100 US is way too much ,come he could have said 40 or 60 US he over do it.
Big facts lol. It was my first time here and I knew straight away he was trying to rip me off hate when they always take advantage of tourist but it’s the norm.
I managed to get a car rental for 220 for a day. Worked out a lot better
Enjoy and be safe.
Cheers , will do 😎🙌🏾
welcome to our beautiful country Siŕ. and keep safe as well.
Thanks for the welcome, I’ve subscribed back and liking your music 😊🙌🏾
@@teflontravels Thanks a for the support
Also feel free to share it thanks
Its nice to see visitors in T&T Our country is beautiful, Be very careful out there Our country is under some serious crimes. $100 US is planty money to go Maracas Beach. People much understand Don't prices over price our visitors, I hope you had a wonderful and safe holiday in T&T. 💖👍🇹🇹
Had a really nice time on the island, although I was warned about the crime I didn’t encounter anything , but Tobago was really peaceful , can’t wait to come back. Thanks for supporting the channel 😎🙌🏾
Blessings on you & your channel bro
Uber was in TT in 2018 or 2017 but it was deemed illegal because of how the country's public transportation laws are set up; all public transport is required to have insurance that covers passengers and driver and it failed because credit card usage at that time was not very high.
I like the way you broke it down . One of my friends in Tobago mentioned this but briefly
Also the Uber drivers were not registered taxi operators as required by law. They were private for hire (PH) which is illegal in this country but some locals still run ph as we say.
@@wazeedali9673 that’s a shame cos Uber would have been a good platform for both trini drivers and riders. One of the TTRS drivers was telling me the local apps are not stable
You sound like Wiley bruv! A little bit! I just subscribed. Bless up
Hahaha that’s a first, never heard that one before 😅
Thanks for subscribing 😎🙌🏾
😊welcome to Trinidad but plz becareful. Enjoy your stay
Thanks 😊
You people are the ones spreading negative things about your Trinidad.Maybe, you are from one of the others Carbbean islands that are living in Trindad as usual for years. The world is thinking Trinidad is some ghetto place. Many of these people dont read or are illiterate in many foreign countries and they are glad to hear your say negative things or will believe you because people in other places don't speak negative against there places like you all do in Trinidad. You will never hear Jamaicans speaking badly against Jamaica.Jamaican Government and other Caribbean Government does not report all of there crimes for years, only Trinidad Government do.It is you poor people from up the other Caribbean Islands living in Trinidad and your offsprings that call themselves Trinidadians or Trinidadians that are not intelligent and those who don't know what to speak that open your stupid mouths.Jamaicans are very patriotic to Jamaica because they know that it will affects there island tourism and economy they love when you speak negative about Trinidad so people will visit Jamaica island, instead. They believe that Jamaica is better than Trinidad and every place in the world. They say to the world that "Jamaica is the land of calypso and steelpan" for years and that they are the best cooks in the Caribbean and the world. The world believe them. You think the world check to see;if Jamaica or Jamaicans are lying.
Another good thing about your videos is that there aren't so many videos from Trinidad besides some interesting history and a little tourism, not much about expat life. Including the ethnic makeup of life there....
Appreciate your feedback, thanks for the support and i aim to continue create more videos like this
Enjoy your stay in Trinidad and Tobago
Thank you 😉
Let's see you dive right into the culture man👍
Will do 😅🇹🇹
Welcome as we say, but that taxi driver, too much, enjoy your stay
Nice! I can't wait to see the food/ fruit video 😋 😂
Coming soon 😊
The last time I went there, was for Carnival 2015. The plane arrived after 12 a,m., on carnival Sunday morning. Three planes including mine had just landed. There were 2 immigration officers. One for nationals and the other for visitors. There were two plane loads ahead of ours. There was no one in the line for the nationals. One would think that she would take some of the passengers. I went up to the front and there was a man with a cord to bar off passengers. I told him the truth. I had a flare up and had been on my legs all day. I knew that I had to leave because I would have to stand there for hours. I told him, they had to make a decision, either they let me through or call an ambulance because I could not stand up for more than a few minutes. I was then sent to the idle immigration officer who had the nerve to tell me that this was no longer my home and the country where I came from was now my home. I kept quiet because I knew the power of immigration officers. She then let me through. Our people really have no respect for us, I am a woman and she was a woman and that was her attitude. They should have had about 4 officers working that night, Today, I would have written the Ministry about the whole scenario. When I left the country, they did not have dual citizenship. Now I have to reapply to be reinstated for my citizenship and go through a set of unnecessary procedures. The government need to change the law. There is too much red tape. It could be so simple, check our birth certifcates and a police records, and give people who lost their citizenship before 1988, dual citizenship. It is simple as that. The end result, I go where I am treated with more respect.
Sorry you went through that. Hope you get dual citizenship sorted 😎
🇹🇹🇹🇹🇹🇹 enjoy Tef
We also have AllRidi
Yes , a friend recommended this on day 3. They’re much cheaper and quicker. 👌🏾
Nice 🇹🇹👍
Big up Gary
We don't have Uber, but we have TT Rideshare that is reasonably priced and takes you anywhere. And yea 100 US is a rip off to go to Maracas from up there 😂. If you were going from deep south to Maracas then that 100 US to and fro would be fair. Thanks for visiting our islands tho! Hope you get to visit Tobago as well! 🇹🇹
You’re correct 😊. And I’m flying to Tobago tomorrow for a week, can’t wait to visit nylon pool and pigeon point😎
Love your island I’ll be back next year 😊
@Teflon Travels Hope you get to try doubles too! Enjoy the rest of the trip!
I’ve had about 10 doubles 🤣. I’m going to include everything in my vlogs 😊

@@teflontravelsWhy did you stay so far?
It was cheaper and the property was really nice. Plus when I travel to countries I don’t like staying too central with all the tourists
You gone on your todd 😮 I thought u were goin with your family Have a brill time stay safe 🇹🇹 🌞🌴✈️🍾
Yhh I do prefer my solo travels but met some friends out here
Hi welcome and enjoy
Thanks Jennifer 😊
That driver from the airport is not Trinidadian. He sounds like a Guyanese. He was trying to rip you off. $100 US to Maracas? I'm glad you did not use him. WOW!!!!
I’m not well versed in the accent but thought he sounded like a local. And yes he was definitely trying to rip me off lol, luckily I managed to hire a car for $25 for the day. Thanks for watching 😎🙌🏾
I just bump up on your channel and I have subscribed and like already...Welcome to Trinidad and Tobago. I am a local here. I hope you enjoy your stay! 💯💯💯❤❤❤
Thanks for the welcome and subscribing, I’m really loving your country and I’m going to be uploading lots of Trinidad stuff . Heading to Tobago tomorrow
Welcome to my country, can't wait for more episodes. Hope you enjoyed all the food we had to offer and please come back again
Thanks bro , really love it here. Definitely coming back again next year same time this year 👌🏾
@@teflontravels I recommend you do the opposite transit the next time. Take a direct British Airways flight to Tobago, go to Trinidad via the ferry service return to Tobago on flying back home.
Nice tip. Thanks

$100 is way too much my brother. That’s a rip off. Wise up
Definitely bro, hate when they try to extort holiday makers. But I managed to hire a car for $30 for 24 hrs.
Stop giving out your information of where you are.
Aslong as he posted it after he left what's the problem.
Bro just full my gas tank for like 250tt and I carry you maracas on a fishing trip. Lol
It’s a bit late now bro but I hired a car yesterday for 220tt for 24 hrs and went to the beach. Next time 👌🏾
Wonderful it looks lovely nice and hot. 🤗😉
Really is 😊. Wish the uk weather stayed like this
The house is very nice
Yes daughter 😊
Welcome to Trinidad my Teflon Brother
Nuff respect bro 👌🏾👌🏾
Man say we airport low budget we. Well yes. That driver is a theif. If i see him anywhere i will make him out.
🤣🤣🤣
😂😂😂😂
100.00 USD 😂😂😂😂. I am trini and they needs to stop doing tourists that
Right😂😂
As a Trini u got really lucky. Your first 2 minutes you made so many rookie missteps regarding your safety. Additionally, You could have gotten a digi sim and free wifi in the airport terminal.
Also the price the driver quoted to go Maracas was fair as it's far.
Trini is not the place to just land and figure things out. Please don't ever do that again. We citizens won't do it so you shouldn't
Appreciate your comment, well noted 😉🙌🏾
US$100 😳😳😳
Exactly 🤣🤣. I ended up renting a car for $30 for 24 hrs 😎
That is definitely too much. And from the airport to maracas is about 45 mins, not 5 hours.
100 US nah
For real bro 🤣. They try to sting me 😂🤦🏾♂️
