- Here I compare the Clarion to my benchmark radio, a 1947 Sears 7054 with 101 808 chassis. This radio is original, even the caps; and I think it sounds better. I don't know why this is such a good radio, but that's why I use it to compare my repaired and aligned radios to it. I figure radios with new components and aligned to the best of my ability should play at least as good as an original 74 year old radio. If not then I feel that I have done something wrong on my repair! I need to what/why to keep learning. Does the shielded end of a capacitor have anything to do with hum?
