Hello Lisa, I just found your video as I have been looking for tutorials on how to groom my own Cocker at home in the simplest form possible. Your video is very well done and, of course, this boy is gorgious! I have taken my Cocker to the same groomer 3 times/year for the last five years, and unfortunately, the last time he went, I was left a bit frustrated about his cut as the groomer cut his ears way too short despite my request to keep them long. So, I decided then that I would do him myself from now on. I have never clipped a dog before, so I got myself some good grooming tools and a good Wahl clipper. However, I am afraid to do a bad job, so your video is very informative. Could you tell me what would be the ideal and simple medium-length cut that I could do as a first grooming experience? I do not want to have his hair too short, maybe one inch all around??? I have a 5-in-1 Wahl clipper with attachements of different lengths, so could you advise me which one of those attachments I could use to do the same cut all around? Hi Christine thanks for watching and your very nice comment! I am not sure how your attachments relate to my blade sizes. A nice medium cut for a cocker to start with is a 3 3/4 blade for me. This is labeled at 13mm. Hopefully this will help. Don't worry about it looking perfect when you first start out. It takes time and practice but you will get better I can promise you that! I have several Cocker Spaniel clients that I have groomed and posted on RUclips. You can find them in my playlists labeled full grooms on a variety of dog breeds.
