Jesse Eisenberg is an Academy Award-nominated actor as well as an acclaimed playwright and author. His film credits include Roger Dodger, The Squid and the Whale, The Social Network, Now You See Me, Café Society, Justice League, and Sasquatch Sunset.
Kieran Culkin is best known as Roman Roy in Succession, for which he received the 2023 Emmy Award as Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series, as well as the Golden Globe. He has starred in such indie hits as Igby Goes Down and The Dangerous Lives of Altar Boys.
A Real Pain is a compelling road trip through parts of Poland that represent "heritage tours" for Jewish descendants. Eisenberg fully inhabits the character David - uptight and controlling - who is taking the trip with his cousin Benji (Culkin), a man-child who is gregarious to the point of embarrassing. As Manohla Dargis wrote in The New York Times, “a touching, beautifully acted, laugh-laced drama about two cousins - played by a brilliant Kieran Culkin and Jesse Eisenberg, who also wrote and directed - on a trip to Poland. An exploration of family, faith, loss and the enduring trauma of the Holocaust, the movie is a knockout.”
Recorded Oct 16, 2024 at 92nd Street Y, New York.

Polish Jews lived with us, Poles, for over 800 years. They are our compatriots. Every Polish Jew is also Polish to some extent. Greetings from Warsaw.

I'm so happy I came across this particular interview..the best I've seen so far! It's a truly fascinating, captivating, brilliant conversation. Thank you so much...and yes, Chopin is played at the Warsaw airport..I was delighted to see myself the lady playing piano there.. Lots of love from Poland:)

Thank you for this movie, I am going to see it soon. There's something about Chopin that makes an adult Pole, a guy like me, get emotional when hearing him. It doesn’t matter if it's Noir playing the piano in The Boyes. And here, you also have views of Poland in a trailers -a country that might not have existed. Thank you.

It's refreshing to see someone who has no idea of the backstory of Jennifer Grey looking different, "she's grown up". Good to see Jennifer Grey working, and acceptance of different look. Next life I will not know about celebrities, only actors' work.

(not using Jews cos in my language it is translated to Żydzi and feel more respect with how Hebrew sounds)

I had a client visit Warsaw and what she found astounding was the crazy Russian party girls walking on cobblestone streets flawlessly in very high heels. There should be a scene like that in every movie about Warsaw.

I studied in Krakow in 87, 88 and 89. while visiting relatives south east of Krakow a native male Pole from a village made anti semantic comments while gifting my father with a pipe with Lenin's face carved into it. He told us that Lenin was a Jew. My father lmk that Poles were envious of Jewish achievements and successes throughout history. Now I am embarrassed by our next president's antisemitism. I am of Polish descent and love ev
    erything about Judaism

I'm really thankful for the last question, as the idea of Benji's mental disorder was so profound to me, and I couldn't find any interview or review addressing this topic
