@@elasmojones Nah putting /s would make it obvious. What I learned from trying "cheap" to "expensive" headphones is insane diminishing returns is a thing. 6XX makes me happiest but I used a Fidelio X2 for years before as well as a 560S. I totally understand your take @MML66. Very valid. I tried to balance it as best as possible. If you compare against other reviews I’ve made, it’s very similar in terms of depth and what I focus in on. Hopefully you got enough out of this review either way!
@@MML66 And just like in other professions, there's a word that describes it, it's unethical. And there's also a solution for this as well...just don't review it...
@johngamer7 What's unethical about it? In some professions, you might say a similar scenario would be a potential conflict of interest or perceived conflict. A conflict doesn't automatically mean you can't do something, it means you have to appropriately manage the conflict, which can be done in different ways depending on the consequences. In this case, I assume he doesn't personally stand to make any financial gain from a positive review. He's disclosed the nature of his relationship to DMS so the audience can take this into account and make their own judgement about the value they put on the review. That strikes me as an ethical and pragmatic approach.
Thank you for the review! Interesting headphone... When testing the FiiO K19, please test the onboard DPS vs Equalizer APO. If possible I also would like to know if the onboard DPS adds RTL(round trip latency), you can check with the free Oblique Audio RTL Utility.
I don’t take offense. If you watched this full review/and or my many others I think people will find parity with fairness but I totally get it. I didn’t want to hide the fact that I’ve spoken to DMS on several occasions. I believe in making every video as open and transparent as possible, as I have nothing to hide. I respect your reservations. I can only open that you find the info you’re seeking one way or another. If anything, I do have measurements posted which can explain a portion of things. Either way, thanks for the comment :)
@@irondad007 I would disagree when it comes to reviews. Everyone has taste and preferences. The bias comes after you've dealt with a person, company, or a product.
I'm an amateur audiophile and will probably never get the chance to try out Omega. But it's just annoying if you can't lift the headphone up without it flailing so much. I owned hd600 before which I find boring, but now I'm using Ananda nano.
Hey Joe,I'm seriously thinking of getting the hifiman arya organic, and hifiman ef 500 amp, for my ps5.i always value your opinion, your thoughts on this would be very helpful.many thanks.
For me, the hobby is not just the sound but the aesthetic. While they may be comfortable and sound great they look incredibly cheap with the red / print on the side
That red piece looks like a way to melt plastic and does not look like it came from a 3D printer. Literally, show these headphones in front of anyone and they will think that you made them by hand. Also, if you own a set of headphones, you might put them on a shelf because they are beautiful, but I don’t think you would put them with these.😅
i can tell you, they don't feel cheap. they feel at least as robust as an hd6x0 headphone, and they are crazy light and comfy. i can't stand heavy headphones, but apparently weight and metal = quality. these don't look any goofier than an Audeze headphone and they're nearly half the weight
How do these compare to hd800s, hd490 pro and hd560s for gaming? I have the hd560s which is decent directional audio but it's hard to hear footsteps unless i want to blow up my ears from gunshots
It sounds like a headphone that I am looking for. I currently have, Hifiman Arya SE, Sennheiser HD800S, HD600, HD6XX. I liked that you talked about gaming, nice 👍 Does the PS5 controller have enough power to drive it? I only game on PS5.
The perfect test to separate the audiophiles from the consumer audio people. If you don't EQ these slap most of the competition even starting from $1000. I'd rather have a Clear MG on a stand to watch while listening to these.
Really? I always found it to be a looker, especially in that price haha. When I first opened it I was surprised how nice it looked/felt. Do you have other models in mind in that price range that stand out as even more impressive? Genuinely curious!
@@GadgetryTech The Focal Radiance is much better looking, and I also prefer the DCA Aeon stuff visually, as well as the Denon stuff for those of us into wood. The Sendy stuff is quite pretty too although I wouldn't trust their insides as far as I could throw them. Then there's LCD-2Fs and the lower end ZMFs. The wood grain on the 109s looked very bland to me and honestly gave me HiFiMan veneer vibes. And the rose gold button was a good idea but looked really tacky in execution. The radial grilles looked unfinished. The headband assembly and driver mesh were quite sexy though.
I would be very interested at 300-400$. The hifiman Arya stealth is now 600$, to make sense it would have to be a decent amount cheaper than the arya stealth.
Thanks! I wouldn't say I was leaning towards overly polite, as I follow a similar approach in my headphone reviews. I point out pros and cons of everything I cover, and it's up to the viewer to determine which pros/cons are important to them. I rarely touch on style/design unless there's a major issue on usability, as I think people like different styles more/less than others, so it's not up to me to decide. Even with that being said, I did comment that I felt Meze made a more premium looking product for less money, so take that for what you will. Thanks for checking out the video!
@@GadgetryTech Thank you for the thoughtful reply! I like many of your videos and I do like your approach. This one was just too nice in comparison to others (from my viewer standpoint). I am curious about the comparisons... The HD800S was there sitting on a shelf being an open back dynamic driver and one that you know well from other comparisons, it is light on the head and the frequency response is up there with the good ones. The Focal Clear was also a good contender but I understand if you did not have it at hand. To me it would have made more sense any of those over a weighty and wonky LCD-X or a closed back from ZMF, not sure if those would have overshadowed the Omega or make it not to shine as much as it did. Thank you again for the reply!
6:25 better use heat shrink sleeves made for electrical wiring, you can find them in different sizes, they are tougher, they shrink to fit exactly the screw and of course they will make less rattling sound when in contact with the plastic earcup.
How would you compare it to the Focal Clear? In my understanding, they share a lot of characteristics, but Clear has more punchy bass, becuase...well because it's Focal. Maybe I'm wrong, but hopefully you can help me understand the difference. Thanks!
@@pavelmarchev1468 Some of the bass frequencies on the Focal Clear are too emphasised and get in the way of the vocals. Aune AR5000 is better as it sounds much more balanced and is much cheaper too. It's my favourite headphones.
Hi joe im going to pass on these there ugly. ive just ordered the fiio ft1 headphones from Amazon. Finally they had them in stock. SUPPOSE to get them next week they went fast on Amazon i was lucky to get one. i hope they sound good for gaming and movies. Cant wait for your review on the new turtle beach 700 gen3 coming out in three weeks stay safe and happy gaming to all.
As someone who has listened to the Omega, just to confirm what GT was saying the bass is very noticeably more prominent moreso that one might get from looking at the graph, it's pretty substantial, to the extend that if someone was bass-adverse they might not like Omega compared to the 6x0 headphones But yeah was a super fun great sounding headphone imo, and SO comfortable. It doesn't completely replace the 6xx in all regards where it, due to its more limited sense of space and slightly more prominent mids, sounds more warm and intimate (something that is most often used as a criticism as the 6x0 line), but I will likely be using Omega as my default and feel it was 100% worth the cost, also the fact that it plays so well with tubes and impedance adapters is so fun
Are you (or @GadgetryTech) able to compare with any other commonly owned headphones similar to the 6x0 line? I'm particularly interested in how it compares to the hd 560s, which has similarities to the hd 600 but much better bass (and some less positive aspects), as well as the Focal Clear OG, which is often recommended as a natural 6x0 upgrade.
The 560S is a bit dry sounding, almost brittle compared to the Omega. Nothing wrong with the 560S for the price, but it has a bit of harshness to it that the Omega smoothes out. My main issue with the 560S was comfort though, not sound for the money. It's pretty clampy and put pressure on my jaw that didn't allow me to wear it too long. On the Omega, I can wear it for hours. I haven't been able to A/B the Omega against the Clear yet, but that comparison is likely coming soon.
That's actually a great idea. I may even still have some shrink tubing left in the workshop. Not sure why I didn't think to give that a shot! Thanks for sharing
@@GadgetryTech Just make sure that they're the regular kind and not the marine grade ones with the hot glue if you're going to do it, would hate cleaning off the glue if you were to ever need to remove it.

looking for an immersive iem or headphone or gaming . Would you recommend the tygr 300r or Ziigaat arete or single player games . I just want something with good bass and great soundstage
For single player games, comfort is key. Ate you stuck on just those two models? I love the comfort of the Tygr 300R but the Arete sounds a little better. For single player, I like the Simgot EM6L more for the more laid back sound.
It isn’t always, but if some people are less sensitive to treble it will be more difficult to hear music/detail in those frequencies. So some will think it’s more detailed if something has more treble. All depends what someone’s definition of detail is. Resolution is another term used
That's not what EQ does. That's not what sound is. If you think it is, great! Head down to Poundland, grab the cheapest headphone you can find, and EQ to your preferences. Summit-fi right there!
@@ChrisStoneinator sure I know it will not sound the same. Lol. I am just curious how close it will sound to the actual headphone or maybe sound ABIT similar.
arune AR5000 is kinda boring I sent mine back doesn't have much bass. and these omega are way over priced just get the sennheiser HD 800s or the sennheiser 660s2 I just ordered the fiio ft1 if I don't like them I will send them back and get the sennheiser 660s2. Stay safe and happy gaming to all
@@jamesstevens968 HD800s xD! They have less bass in quantity and quality and an unlistenable treble peak for plenty of people. HD660S2 is an overpriced worse version of the 600/650 with a bit more bass as the only improvement. AR5000 is an excellent neutral option that clearly isn't what you are looking for, but people aren't specifically asking for your preferences so throwing around opinions ought to be done with some caution.
@@GadgetryTech I don't have one myself. I did just get a ATHAD700X for $30 to monkey around with. The peerless drivers only cost $20....seems reasonable.

@@elasmojones Just gonna do a pad change and headband strap and got a 4-pin XLR cable coming and I can't wait to test out the MK4. I still have my old Massdrop MK2 but the new Mk4 looks to have a good bit of improvement to the RP driver and cabling.
I covered that in the Subjective Pt 2 chapter. Having said that, the Omega is warmer and smoother sounding. The Arya Organic, while wonderful, is a leaner and a bit more bright treble presentation. It has more of a sparkle effect
Honestly, when I look at that red piece that carries a driver, it looks like someone made it using the worst 3D printer. Frankly, it is priced at $1000. This is an insane price. The last option I will consider buying. There are better things with better manufacturing quality and better shape. If I show them in front of someone, they will think. I am proud to have made them, unlike almost any other headphones. It is clear that they were made by a specialized company
Yeah, but if you care about sound and don't EQ then these are still killer. Apparently quite durable as well and all parts can be changed. It's also not cheap in the manufacturing even if the looks aren't a priority. People are free to get what they want of course for whatever reason, but something like a Meze 109 Pro looks beautiful, but sounds very basic for the price. Trade-offs and I don't see headphones while I wear them so I don't care at all about the looks.
@@hartyewh1 People are free. I did not say anything about anyone or force anyone to do anything. I do not know how someone can convince yourself, but he can get a house at the price of a palace, and if I believe that he has not been defrauded, then everything is still good. Changeability is not an excuse to make the quality of the product rubbish. Headphones Like HD, with good quality and a beautiful shape, and it will last for years. Something like the HD58x has a more beautiful shape, better build quality, and can be dismantled, even complete.
This sound profile works well for Apex, yeah. Apex actually performs better with a slight boost to the 1khz area, which the Omega naturally has. So the EQ tweaks would be minimal
Don't forget that DMS seemed to feel threatened by the Verum 2 headphones to the point of lowkey harassing the creator in the comment section of "Passion For Sound"s video for the Verum 2 headphones, claiming that Igor had continued with his 4chan behaviour for years after apologizing publicly for being toxic, with no facts to back the claim up. I was deadass surprised to see that it wasn't some random hater that replied to many of the comments/replies made by the Verum Audio youtube account, but rather the official DMS youtube account. It will be interesting to see which headphone is the better value proposition in the end. Edit: Found the video where I noticed the nonsense happening, so removed the vagueness of my statement, and generally cleaned up my comment.
I'm pretty sure DMS didn't say anything for that reason. I have a Verum 2 coming and planning to interview Igor about the stuff so I'm very well aware of the situation. DMS and others were claiming that the stuff has continued, but no one had any receipts so I can't just accept them at their word. Both seem like 5/5 hesdphones so far.
@@hartyewh1the receipts are posted on Twitter. You can't post most links in RUclips comments. Verum is still calling black people monkeys and it makes me sick. Not sure why people are defending him for that.
He called rap "shouting monkey noises" or something to that effect in a public server right around the time DMS mentioned him on twitter, which (at least in North America) is considered negative racially-coded language. For those who have been in the community for a long time, Igor has always been like this, and he clearly has no intention of changing. After all, why would he bother changing or improving when audiophiles are plenty happy to support him despite his unfortunate behavior? To say DMS felt threatened by Verum 2 would imply that he even thinks about Igor as competition, which I don't think he does. In an ideal world, headphone consumers would have the care to not support people who behave like Igor has/does, but ofc the reality is that not everyone actually cares if their headphone manufacturer is a terrible person, only if their headphones are inexpensive enough to consume.
I've seen enough shared online from sources I trust showing some less than desirable behavior from the owner of Verum. I likely won't ever review a Verum headphone, but if I ever hear one, I'll talk about it at some point. Some of the stuff the owner has said towards people I know, and in group chats was pretty vile. You can feel what you want about it. As to what DMS does on whatever forum, he's entitled to say what he wants to say. I'm not one to endorse or invalidate anything DMS is saying, he's his own person
@@GadgetryTech I was mostly surprised that DMS didn't use some private account, but rather his official headphone reviewing account. Regardless, I would love to get actual evidence as to the owner of Verum Audio not having improved since they apologized a couple of years ago, as that'd mean I could confidently not support them financially in the future due to their refusal to improve as a person, but until then, I will have to give the benefit of doubt. Innocent until proven guilty and all that.
6XX are for Americans Only , they cost 200 and i had to pay 280 for Europe, They dont wort it ... Also when i got HD 6XX they was using the OLD pads with not the Clear rings inside . Also 2 plastic holders was broken i contact Sennheiser Europe and they Say that 6XX is different production and DO NOT cover them ( everyone can contact Sennheiser Europe to verify that ) At the end i had to wai 2 more months from Drop to fix it , and pay vats again .
Sounds like that's not worth the hassle you went through. I think most Sennheiser products I've used been wonderful. Believe it or not, my biggest issue with them has been with comfort. The strong clamp is not great for me, but I really like the comfort of the HD 490 Pro and the 800 S. Otherwise, I feel the need to modify the stock comfort of most other models I've tried/purchased.
You can’t call something overpriced that you’ve never heard or tried. What you meant to say is that they’re out of your budget, not overpriced. DMS made an entire video on why they cost that amount.
Why buy 1.000 euro Headphone that Looks terrible , Quality material are cheap , with bad looking screws , Very Deep pads that will eventually after some listening will pressed down and Change the sound , with no Quality control and potential miss matched drivers, Angled drivers that are not even Angled by the build of the headphone but the Pads , With Coil whine , magnet and mebrane that is used on way cheaper headphones , and honestly a tuning that is just 6XX with less mid bass and more low end that u can easy EQ or just Buy 660s2 or Sundara . And i am not even talking about Warranty and XP for the customers . Even Hifiman has many Quality problems imagine this Headphone that is not even 10 years on the market .
Who is dense enough to spent a rack on this steamin pile of plastic. Sorry but i'd rather spent 350 and play the hifiman lottery. At least their stuff does look and feel quality but this just looks cheap af.
I mean open up a Sundara and it looks like an elementary school woodwork project. Great value and sound, but Hifimans need EQ to compete with these and people have a lot of comfort issues with them as well.
Have you ever held an HE1000 in your hands? THAT looks like a cheap piece of plastic that's going to fall apart any second and they originally charged 3.5k for it and then they magically cut the price by almost half because it was overpriced. Their EF400 looks like a cheap toilet seat, maybe the material is easy to clean though.
@@andreasschwarz4908 He probably means the overall design. From a few feet HE1000s look pretty decent, but admittedly Hifiman isn't the comparison to try and make here.

The problem is that it is impossible for him to be fair, because he may criticize it harshly just to make it clear that he is not complimenting the product of his friend or someone he knows, or he may evaluate it more than it deserves because it is the product of his friend. He is like a judge trying one of his relatives.
I totally understand your take @MML66. Very valid. I tried to balance it as best as possible. If you compare against other reviews I’ve made, it’s very similar in terms of depth and what I focus in on. Hopefully you got enough out of this review either way!
@@GadgetryTech Thank you for doing this. Have a nice day
@@MML66 And just like in other professions, there's a word that describes it, it's unethical.
No offense - I can't trust any of these reviews because they're "friends" with the creator. It's impossible to remove personal bias.
Yeah these things look like a 40 dollar pair you’d buy off a random brand on Amazon
@@ConsecDesign I can't get behind the look no matter how great it feels on hand. For me it's just too ugly to buy in any price range.

Try Aune AR5000. Great mid range and way more sub bass than hd600. Probably better than this $1000 headphone.

I will do that 👍
The perfect test to separate the audiophiles from the consumer audio people. If you don't EQ these slap most of the competition even starting from $1000. I'd rather have a Clear MG on a stand to watch while listening to these.
okay, but I can get a Clear used for 500...

can i use the 3.5mm aux jack socket on the arctis 5 to connect iems is there any down side ?
Thats a very flattering shot of a 109 pro. It's much blander and cheaper in person.
Interesting take about the 109 pro looks...
Does open back headphones leak sound comparable to mobile speakers or less?
I would be very interested at 300-400$. The hifiman Arya stealth is now 600$, to make sense it would have to be a decent amount cheaper than the arya stealth.
Thanks for the review although heavily tilted towards being extremely polite…
Thanks!
If they share a lot of characteristics with the Clear then it's a pass from me. It is anyway because of the high price.
@@dtz1000 What's wrong with the Clear? Just your preference?
@@pavelmarchev1468 Some of the bass frequencies on the Focal Clear are too emphasised and get in the way of the vocals. Aune AR5000 is better as it sounds much more balanced and is much cheaper too. It's my favourite headphones.

Is it better than the verum 2?

"I'm going to pass on these ugly, I just ordered cheap nasty Chinese ugly instead"
As someone who has listened to the Omega, just to confirm what GT was saying the bass is very noticeably more prominent moreso that one might get from looking at the graph, it's pretty substantial, to the extend that if someone was bass-adverse they might not like Omega compared to the 6x0 headphones
But yeah was a super fun great sounding headphone imo, and SO comfortable.
I haven't been able to A/B the Omega against the Clear yet, but that comparison is likely coming soon.
found it!
What about using heat shrink tubing to increase the girth of the screws? It'll latch onto the screw threads so it shouldn't ever pop off.
That's actually a great idea. I may even still have some shrink tubing left in the workshop. Not sure why I didn't think to give that a shot! Thanks for sharing

why is more treble associated with more detail
It isn’t always, but if some people are less sensitive to treble it will be more difficult to hear music/detail in those frequencies. So some will think it’s more detailed if something has more treble. All depends what someone’s definition of detail is. Resolution is another term used

How does the aune ar5000 sound compared to the omega? Can we eq the aune ar5000 to sound like the omega?

They have less bass in quantity and quality and an unlistenable treble peak for plenty of people. HD660S2 is an overpriced worse version of the 600/650 with a bit more bass as the only improvement. AR5000 is an excellent neutral option that clearly isn't what you are looking for, but people aren't specifically asking for your preferences so throwing around opinions ought to be done with some caution.

Na I wouldn't get these way over priced and there boring they lack bass. I just ordered the fiio ft1.
Can it Apex?

Sounds like that's not worth the hassle you went through. I think most Sennheiser products I've used been wonderful. Believe it or not, my biggest issue with them has been with comfort.
