  • Used to be, an aspiring hip-hop act or team had to catch the attention of an established artist - a Jay-Z, a Dr. Dre - or a label head in order to reach an audience beyond their hometown. The internet promised to change all that, but its rare, still, the artist who turns this promise into a success story. G-Side are that exception.
A hip-hop collective from Hunstville, AL, G-side have been at it for a number of years, working the blogosphere and refining their sound, and in the past year or so they're making their way onto the national scene by virtue of their own blood, sweat, and perseverance. It helps they've got great albums, too.
We spoke with G-Side emcees Young Clova and ST 2 Lettaz at the 2011 Pitchfork Music Festival, covering the production process behind their latest and upcoming albums, the rap scene in Hunstville, and the impressive-sounding production complex the group works in - which sounds like it rivals anything NASA's got in the area.

They made one of the greatest rap albums of all times...and at the time I write this...they have 172 views. But it is to be expected since the music is at least 10 years ahead of it's time.
