    For everyone trying this, don't forget power button + volume down for 20 seconds force restarts!
    I took it apart and the screen wouldn't work, but it came back after reassemply with that trick. I thought I broke it ahhhh!

      I tried to restart the A12 the same way.
      It just vibrated and made a siron sound.
      My wife is the worst with phones. Always winds up with a broken screen.
      😂 From being thrown at me. 😂
      I already got her a New A12. Bc I like the camera and the battery lasts longer than many other phones.
      So I'm going to follow this video and break it down and keep all spare parts.
      Except for the screen.
      I was thinking how much would it cost to replace the screen by a professional?
      It probably costs more than the phone?

    I just used this vid to help me get my A12 apart so i could replace its danger pillow, and, removing my battery, i have these finger suction cups with rings you can use for screen removal, i just stuck one to the upper part of the battery, and pried slowly along the back on each side back and forth while pulling up, it came out relatively easily with some patience. Good video, nice and descriptive. Good content. Helps us diyers out. I always appreciate this sort of content.

    Great teardown, having a customer with screen staying black on calls issue on his A12, I figure it's the ALS so I tear it apart to make sure the sensor isn't dusty or fogged up only to notice there isn't one? I figured surely that can't be right so I wanted to find a teardown video and see if I was missing something. Great explanation on the missing component and conjecture on how the device functions without it.

      Thanks. Yeah this phone uses the front facing camera as a proximity sensor, so check the front facing cam and make sure its working properly. Might be software related as well so try backing up and factory resetting the phone to see if it helps.

    The best of such a video I've ever seen. Now at least I know that these strange patterns are actually antennae. In fact, these screens are frustratingly fragile, my 8 years old kid broke up two such phones in a row, during less than a year (never ask why did I buy the same phone again). I replaced the screen, and, all of a sudden, power button ceased to work! When I take the back housing off - it works, put it on - no response. Is it known issue? I would welcome any suggestion how to shoot the trouble.

    • @BarrenBaeren
      @BarrenBaeren 2 года назад +5

      Finally I have found the answer! The trouble was in the battery - I pried it off a bit too brutally, its corner slightly bent out. The phone worked perfectly with back housing off, but when I put it on, it touched the damaged battery, and the phone didn't answer. Thus I learned that how delicately you are prying off the battery is not simply important, it is CRUCIAL. I'm sure there is a bunch of common mistakes beginners like me do every day. Do you consider making video about such mistakes?

    Great video.
    My wife's screen broke on her phone. So because I'm used to modifying DSLR Cameras.
    I was going to replace the screen.
    Or salvage the parts for a second phone.
    But seeing how the phone has to be heated up by the screen to remove the battery. I'm a little iffy about it.
    But the phone screen is broken.
    And on this particular model Samsung Galaxy A12 phone.
    It has one of the best phone batteries and Cameras.
    So I'm going to break down the broken phone. Because the screen went black.
    I tried rebooting it. But it vibrates and makes an alarm siron. So I'm going to hook up to my laptop to retrieve as much Data as possible.
    And just part it out in marked containers.
    Thank you again for making this video, for this A12.

      Depending on how bad the screen already is... it could be taken out. But yeah the battery removal was a trial and error for me. I had multiple galaxies needing fixed. After the first one I learned to let it get warm (not hot) and used a completely flat old debit card. Extremely slow and steady, which has managed safer for the galaxy currently being used than the flopping sunction cups (that are usually sold with screen and/or battery repair kits that ommitt spatulas (phone that ended up in disrepair as a result).

    • @PBKreviews

      I didn't explain it correctly in the video but that other flex is attached to the screen cable as well so instead of there being two cables going down from the main board there is only one to connect to both the charger port board and the screen. Basically that second flex cable is for the charger port board, its routed under the frame and attached to the screen cable.

    Soon, any advice?
    I have replaced a battery that smelled like it was going to leak.
    New battery was charged at arrival but just declined to death regardless of charger.
    Went ahead and got a charger circuitboard half to swap out after, incase mabe I was entirely wrong or it had serge problem cause it before. Both new and old charge circuitboards don't acknowledge being set ona charger.
    Is there some way I should be resetting the device to start accepting a charger plug in after a battery problem, or some other part that could be at fault? Sadly I do not own a piece for volt/watt checking to further troubleshoot. 😅😅 checking

    Curious as to where the memory/internal storage is located. My 13yo just jumped in a pond with his phone. my though was to take it apart to let all the components really dry out, reassemble, and cross my fingers, BUT, failing that I was hoping there might be a way to hotswap the internal memory into a replacement.

      @PBKreviews  11 месяцев назад +1

      Hi, the storage chip is soldered to the main board and would not be user replaceable or removable. Would require soldering expertise and if there is a shop that would know how to do it, would probably not be cheap.

      You can try taking it apart, disconnecting the battery cable and drying out any liquid inside as well as brushing off any corrosion around chips and connectors with a small brush or tooth brush. Then re assembling it and seeing if it helped.

    Hello, I have a galaxy a12 which the power button clicks fine disassembled but when reassembled it just feels like a stiff button doesn't click at all. What could this be please as it clicks and works just fine until I put it in and put bracket on, put back cover back on then goes stiff?

    • @PBKreviews
      @PBKreviews  2 года назад

      Sometimes the metal bracket on the back housing which is covering and holding the power button in place becomes bent or deformed and causes this to happen. You would need to probably check that and see if its bent and try to straighten it. It's hard to explain but yeah that's the best way I can describe it. You would need to just mess with that metal plate/bracket to try and get it fixed.

      You would need to disassemble it (and disconnect the battery cable) to let it air dry completely and then use a small brush like a tooth brush to brush off any corrosion on any chips or connectors to prevent the phone from shorting anything. And then you can put it back together and power it on to see if it will work.

      I guess, not sure. Probably explains why the slot on the frame is there and the board solder points are there since probably the same used in the A11 but ya I guess they are just using the front facing camera as a means to detect light and so forth.

      make sure you moved your earpiece speaker over from your old screen assembly to the new, and also make sure the main board is seated properly in place and everything is screwed down properly since there are gold contacts on the motherboard which touch the gold pads on the earpiece speaker to give it signal.

    Can the fingerprint copper wires be completely removed/disassembled while the power on/off button functions?

    • @PBKreviews
      @PBKreviews  3 года назад

      Hi, on this phone no it would not be possible. The power button clicker and fingerprint scanner are both using the same flex cable for connection. Some phones it's possible to do that (for example the LG k42) where the power button clicker is on a separate flex or mounted separately and not using the same flex cable for connection.

    • @PBKreviews
      @PBKreviews  3 года назад +1

      @@rayened3615 No problem. You won't be able to power on or off without it, but if you really don't want the finger print reader, I'm sure you can use a razor or something to scratch it up so the reader cant read anything and just use it like that to be able to press down and click the clicker behind it to power on and off the phone. Or maybe take it apart and internally damage the laser or reader portion but not cut the cable or damage the cable so you can retain the use of the power button.
