I think the reason Lilo and Stitch managed to do better than the two previous films was because of that genius marketing campaign. I remember owning the Atlantis VHS and it had the Beauty and Beast version of the trailer at the start. I was so hyped as a kid after seeing that.
The Emperor's New Groove is one of my 2 top favorites animated and the other one is Tarzan I remember seeing The Emperor's New Groove in theaters I was 5 And I remember mimicking scenes and lines when I watched it all the time This is my childhood film and also Tarzan 😊
Animat, no big deal, but you forgot to mention that Atlantis: The Lost Empire was made by the same crew who did Beauty And The Beast and The Hunchback of Notre Dame and that the crew decided to make an action/adventure film instead of another musical after recently finishing up with The Hunchback Of Notre Dame. Anyway, just thought I'd mention that.
The filmmakers said that originally Yzma was to turn into some kind of monster but they dropped that idea and decided to make her something completely unthreatening. They don't know "the genesis of the kitten," but they too said that it might be because Eartha Kitt was Catwoman. Thankfully, overall (from opening to end) ENG was a box office success.
Atlantis is the shit. How can you possibly dislike it? I also absolutely adored Emperor's New Groove and was too obsessed with Lilo and Stitch when it came out.
Yzma didn't turn Kuzko into a llama on purpose; Kronk accidentally mixed up the llama potion with the poison that was supposed to be put in Kuzko's cup.
@BethanyTattyTeddy See? The release date was December 15th. So AniMat was wrong that he though the film "The Emperor's New Groove" was released in 2001, because the film was released in 2000!
Fun fact about "Kingdom of the Sun" that I was kind of disappointed you didn't mention. Originally, Eartha Kitt had her own song "Snuff Out the Light" which went along with the movie's original plot. It's a really good song, and even though it doesn't fit in with the plot they ended up using, I for one would have loved to see it animated. ^_^
Full Voice Cast: The Emperor's New Groove David Spade: Emperor Kuzco - John Goodman: Pacha the Peasant - Eartha Kitt: Yzma - Patrick Warburton: Kronk - Eli Russel Linnetz: Tipo (Pacha's Son) - Kellyann Kelso: Chaca (Pacha's Daughter) - Wendie Malick: Chica (Pacha's Wife) - Bob Bergen: Bucky the Squirrel, A Dragonfly, Multiple Males - Patti Deutsch: A Waitress - John Fiedler: Rudy the Old Coot - Joe Whyte: Kuzco's Official - Tom Jones: A Singer - Peter Cullen: Multiple Males - Frank Welker: Multiple Males - Tress MacNeille: Multiple Females - Tom Kenny: Multiple Males - Kath Soucie: Multiple Females - James Arnold Taylor: Multiple Males Full Voice Cast: Atlantis the Lost Empire Michael J Fox: Milo Thatch - Cree Summer: Princess Nedakh (Adult) - Corey Burton: Gaeton Moliere - Phil Morris: Dr. Joshua Sweet - Jim Varney: Jebidiah Farnsworth (Died Before Release) - Jacqueline Obradors: Audrey Ramirez - Florence Stanley: Wilhelmina Packard - James Garner: Commander Rourke - Claudia Ann Christian: Lieutenant Sinclair - John Mahoney: Preston Whitmore - Leonard Nimoy: King Nedakh - David Ogden Steirs: Fenton Harcourt - Natalie Strom: Princess Nedakh (Child) - Jim Cummings: Multiple Males - Patrick Pinney: Multiple Males - Janice Kawaye: Multiple Females - Steven Barr: Multiple Males Full Voice Cast: Lilo and Stitch Deveigh Chase: Lilo - Chris Sanders: Stitch - Tia Carrere: Nani (Lilo's Big Sister) - Kevin Michael Richardson: Captain Gantu - Jason Scott Lee: David Kawena (Nani's Boyfriend) - Kevin McDonald: Agent Peakley - David Ogden Steirs: Dr. Jumba - Ving Rhames: Cobra Bubbles - Zoe Caldwell: The Grand Councilwoman - Miranda Page Walls: Mertle Edmonds - Kunewa Mook: The Hula Teacher - Amy Hill: Mrs. Hasagawa - Susan Hegarty: The Pet Store Owner - Multiple Children: Multiple Child Characters - Frank Welker: Multiple Males - Tom Kenny: Multiple Males - Charlie Adler: Multiple Males - Dee Brad Baker: Multiple Males - Kath Soucie: Multiple Females - Nancy Cartwright: Multiple Females
An interesting period of disney animation indeed. It seems like Disney was trying to shake off the whole "disney musical" stigma and reach into more edgy and less conventional grounds. The results were a little weird in some cases but overall the films are well animated an a lot of fun.
Mentioning GAINAX in relation to Nadia: The Secret of Blue Water would do better than Toho. Toho wasn't the company who created it, as NHK was with the to develop it from Miyazaki's concept. GAINAX was the core animation studio working on it with Group TAC and KoreanSei Young, so the reference just to Toho is misinformed at best.
Lilo & Stitch is too great to ignore. Hawaii loooks great in animation. More so because Stitch is a nutty character. Stitch's head on Sully's body and Shrek's head on Mike's body is so funny.
I think he was just stating that Roger Ebert likes everything Disney makes. I don't think he meant that Atlantis didn't deserve the praise. Besides he used Black Cauldron as an example not Atlantis.
yeah alantis was the pretty good movie because their was michael J fox was the voice of milo in the film and Michael j fox played marty mckfly in back to the future from the 1980's
Come on I thought The Emperor’s New Groove did very good I mean I’m glad that it got great reviews from critics but I mean why in the name of God’s earth did it didn’t do so good at the box office?
I loved Lilo and Stitch and Atlantis was an awesome movie! I loved that Micheal J. Fox played the voice of Milo and the tomboy girl, (I forget her name) Played the girl pilot on AVATAR which I thought was awesome and recognized her right away.
Not to mention about emperor's new groove, patrick warburton who plays Kronk and John goodman who plays Pacha were together again in bee movie playing the two different villains
Thanks. Well, that's the magic of Google Images, You ask for the right thing and you get it. For the facts, I do more than just DVDs, I also go to numerous websites to get good info. By the way, what's the name of the documentary? Sounds like it's worth watching.
@clashrogers i think that Hayao Miyazaki's Spirited Away deserved the Oscar because first, if you watch the rest of his movies, you would see that most of the others should have won oscars, also and secondly, Spirited Away was so much more creative the two disney films because Miyasaki involved a lot more spirituality into it and it was a tale created by Miyasaki himself and the music is just amazing!
Atlantis is the best Disney movie as far as the story goes. Visually, I like it a lot (and I also like Treasure Planet's visuals), but you can't deny that the story and characters are fantastic.
Also Lilo and Stitch is mad popular in japan so much so that there's japanese dubs of the movies and the US TV series.Stitch was even given his own Anime which lasted 3 seasons with new characters and settings
The Emperor's new groove. That's probably the funniest Disney movie of all time. Atlantis. I like that movie, I love it's visuals. Lilo and Stitch. That is a pretty good movie.
When you mentioned toho, I thought what if disneyland of japan made a godzilla attraction like a ride or maybe a show where actors in rubber suits would fight like a match. Imagine that.
Since the inception of the 'Best Animated Feature' category to the 'Oscars', Pixar has won seven out of eleven years, while DreamWorks has been held to two wins (one of which was shared with Aardman). Aside from those two juggernauts, Studio Ghibli, Animal Logic and Nickelodeon has each enjoyed one win as well. However, the biggest animation studio of the 20th century has yet to win one award... And while a number of Disney's 21st century projects have been nominated, they've all come up short.
I guess Ebert took whatever Disney shits on his plate. Also, Atlantis failed because it came out at the same time as the movie about a certain green man who lives in a swamp.
Olivia Smith A Goofy Movie is not part of the renicansse. It wasn't as successful as these films. It's in a different category of the other films that were made by Disney.
I think the reason Lilo and Stitch managed to do better than the two previous films was because of that genius marketing campaign. I remember owning the Atlantis VHS and it had the Beauty and Beast version of the trailer at the start. I was so hyped as a kid after seeing that.
I remember that! Also I really loved the Ariel and Aladdin parody as well
The Emperor's New Groove is one of my 2 top favorites animated and the other one is Tarzan
I remember seeing The Emperor's New Groove in theaters
I was 5
And I remember mimicking scenes and lines when I watched it all the time

The filmmakers said that originally Yzma was to turn into some kind of monster but they dropped that idea and decided to make her something completely unthreatening. Little extra fact to Lilo and Stitch. Nani was the first EVER disney heroine to be animated with a realistic body shape.

The Emperors New Groove was made in December 2000.
It's a shame Atlantis is so underrated, one of my favorite movies.. (and I was hoping you'd mention Michael J Fox, heh :D )
I am extremely disappointed that The Emperor’s New Groove didn’t do so good at the box office
"They released what I'd have to say is one of my favorite Disney movies, The Emperor's New Groove"....Did I really just hear that?
I had totally forgotten about those Lilo & Stitch trailers. I loved them as a kid and I'm glad I remember it now, absolutely hilarious!
Emperor's New Groove came out in 2000. Just an FYI. By the way, I really like your reviews!
The Emperor’s New Groove was released in 2000 not 2001
An interesting period of disney animation indeed. It seems like Disney was trying to shake off the whole "disney musical" stigma and reach into more edgy and less conventional grounds. The results were a little weird in some cases but overall the films are well animated an a lot of fun.

The Emperor’s new groove is very funny and hilarious.
0:00 actually the emperor's new groove was released in 2000
The Emperor's New Groove was released in 2000, not 2001.
I remember those crossover ads for Lilo and Stitch. They also did one with Stitch (in full white color and spots) as one of the 101 Dalmatians.
Lilo & Stitch is too great to ignore. Hawaii loooks great in animation. More so because Stitch is a nutty character. Stitch's head on Sully's body and Shrek's head on Mike's body is so funny.
Well, Lilo and Stitch at least did well both at theaters and with critics.
The voice work for Atlantis gets better. Michael J Fox does a great job on Milo. Cree Summers also deserves a mention. Princess Kida is voices by her.
awww :( i feel bad now... i grew up with these movies and lilo and stitch made me wanna cry cos of the story :'( still love them though!!! ^___^
No offense Scrubman Lowell, but I think Lilo and Stitch was actually Disney's last great film until Bolt. But you're still entitled to your opinion.
I think he was just stating that Roger Ebert likes everything Disney makes. I don't think he meant that Atlantis didn't deserve the praise. Besides he used Black Cauldron as an example not Atlantis.
lilo and stitch is almost like the original frozen. I love it so much!!
me to
+Robert Osinoff Movies starring female protagonists that are actually good. Seems legit.
I don't like Lilo and Stitch, to me, it sucks!
Atlantis the lost empire was a failure because of sherk in 2001
Oddly Enough, All of them were good
I think The Emperor’s New Groove deserves more credit.
I absolutely love Atlantis ans Lilo & Stitch.
I'm glad the submarine voyage ride is re-opened with a Finding Nemo theme, especially after Disney bought Pixar in 2006.
Love lilo and stitch!! My family are big elvis fans so that is one reason why but I love it because of its humor and story..
0:00 um no, it was released Dec. 2000
yeah alantis was the pretty good movie because their was michael J fox was the voice of milo in the film and Michael j fox played marty mckfly in back to the future from the 1980's
Don't forget he's the voice of Stuart Little.
Agreed! Say, am I the only one who liked Atlantis: The Lost Empire slightly better than The Emperor's New Groove (but not Lilo and Stitch though)?
Come on I thought The Emperor’s New Groove did very good I mean I’m glad that it got great reviews from critics but I mean why in the name of God’s earth did it didn’t do so good at the box office?
New groove was released in 2000
I loved Lilo and Stitch and Atlantis was an awesome movie! I loved that Micheal J. Fox played the voice of Milo and the tomboy girl, (I forget her name) Played the girl pilot on AVATAR which I thought was awesome and recognized her right away.

Oh yeah I knew that already but thank you for mentioning that
Lilo and Stitch. came out on my birthday that year :3 so awesome! (June 21st)
The emperors new groove was realesed in 2000 not 2001
Thanks. Well, that's the magic of Google Images, You ask for the right thing and you get it. For the facts, I do more than just DVDs, I also go to numerous websites to get good info. By the way, what's the name of the documentary? Sounds like it's worth watching.
Actually Toho only does the Distribution of the Pokemon Movies. It's OLM Inc who handles the production of the movies along with the anime series.

I liked the" family means no one gets lert behind" part. (:
Atlantis The Lost Empire is one of my favourite Disney films
Atlantis is the best Disney movie as far as the story goes. Visually, I like it a lot (and I also like Treasure Planet's visuals), but you can't deny that the story and characters are fantastic.
Lilo & Stitch was, is and will be... one of Disney's best.
Also Lilo and Stitch is mad popular in japan so much so that there's japanese dubs of the movies and the US TV series.Stitch was even given his own Anime which lasted 3 seasons with new characters and settings
The emperors new Groov 10/10 Atlanta’s never seen it
Lilo and stich 10/10
The Emperor's new groove. That's probably the funniest Disney movie of all time.
Atlantis. I like that movie, I love it's visuals.
Lilo and Stitch. That is a pretty good movie.
Sadly, the only film on this list that was actually most memorable is Lilo and Stitch
When you mentioned toho, I thought what if disneyland of japan made a godzilla attraction like a ride or maybe a show where actors in rubber suits would fight like a match. Imagine that.

Don't forget Lilo and Stitch used to have a 747 flying through a city but was changed to Jumba's Ship flying through a canyon.
And it was changed because of the 9/11 attacks
Your video is well done and covers a lot of material. *subscribes* I want to see more!
“The Emperor’s New Groove,” was released on December 17, 2000.
The emperors new groove was actually released in December 2000
It was relesed in 2001 in the UK
You forgot the Stitch anime!
What a choice for Godzilla, his famous "moon" dance from "Invasion of the Astro Monster".
I went to Kauai a year and a half ago and it was fun!
Because I didn't used Atlantis the lost empire on Nickyhelp many years ago.
For a mash up with Mole looking for gretchen Germs lovesick.
Teaser trailers of Lilo and Stitch is HILARIOUS!
I guess Ebert took whatever Disney shits on his plate. Also, Atlantis failed because it came out at the same time as the movie about a certain green man who lives in a swamp.
Same here, I thought he'd mention something about the back to the future movies as well. xD
Olivia Smith A Goofy Movie is not part of the renicansse. It wasn't as successful as these films. It's in a different category of the other films that were made by Disney.
My 3 favorite Disney Characters are Ariel, Jasmine and Kida
I love all of his movies!
love the beaty and the beast one best!
Atlantis was amazing.
ME TOO
You forgot to mention that they made rides for LILO and stitch in many Disney parks.
Lilo and Stitch is the cutest movie ever.
