Back home they use cones. And in bp if you couldnt hit between the cones they were automatic outs. Shaggers couldnt go inside the area of a cone....but patrolled all the dirt. Definitely learned the hard way that if you hit 110 hard at a legit defender...you going to the dugout. But if you hit 80 thru the hole...you on base
I’ve gone through every swing change; from a baseball swing and everything in between. I agree with what Mac said about finding yours and being relaxed. I try to take my hands straight back and straight through and cut it out front. If I need to elevate I lean slightly back which gives me a different swing path but I keep everything the same. Did Ikes bat drill today. I've been having an issue cutting out bad Homers in C the last two years (Solos- 1 runner on, early, etc) and just in 1 bp session today the drill definitely helped more balls stay 5 ft which has been the goal. Appreciate the knowledge from a legit pro
Can we get a video about tee work (i.e. how to set up the tee for bp, tee positioning and height, maybe even some tee drills) and possibly batters box positioning? I remember the drill where irv had you stand in the plate to work out getting the bat through the zone and that was super interesting!
Great content once again Cole... Love seeing new conference guys out there and hitting bp amd the way that they approach bp in general and situational stuff too... Keep it up #waitingforjoshmoore
One thing that has always helped me with hitting holes, you know you take pepper and you hit it back to the person almost every time. Whether it's the person who pitched it or the other people with a glove on. When i get in the box I imagine there is someone standing in the hole i want to hit (goes for holes on the infielder or outfield) and i want to pepper them the ball. Even if i swing hard i think of it as a game of pepper and I want to hit that guy the ball in the hole.
May I say s/o to mac Rio I used his hand placement about hooking it his index he showed in this video. Today was my first time trying it I hit a few over a 300+ foot distance fence in bp and I did it in a game and I hit a homerun in the first inning not on purpose lol we play in a one up league but thanks for that change I needed to make
@@FastFlash-dg2fc yeah I tried been my grip as of late and I play a lot so it’s been working so far and it does help with the whip action when swinging been hitting the ball much harder

Are these results realistic for a Canadian softball player? When I watch videos about cut swings, I assume most videos are hitting Pro-M's but I am not sure. Up here we mostly hit Worth Hot Dots. Do 275lbs compression balls get enough backspin/carry to make cut swings worth trying to do?
Many American softball leagues use Worth Hot Dot Classic Plus which is also a USSSA 52/275 ball. I'd say from personal experience that cutting them is usually superior to squaring them up because you can make them carry a lot further with that backspin. I have a pretty aggressive cut swing and have never had an issue with hot dots.
Do you all wait till you're in a specific count or just swing at the first good one you see?. This new season, I'm working on being patient and having deeper counts. In my first two games of this season, I went 5-6 with a double and a walk just from taking a different approach at the plate.
Quick question.. should I be leading with my hands and let the bat come around? Or should I throw the bat ahead of the hands? - just need help on being more consistent at the plate
@victorpenasanchez1167 yes, practice. Hitting is all about reps. If you are strong enough to throw a ball across the diamond you can hit it hard enough to get on base. So then you just practice at hitting where you want.
@FastFlash-dg2fc line up the pinkys (field goal post), and yes. It should get the bat through the zone without your wrists having to roll over each other
@@hittingwiththenation Thankyou, so basically, line up the knuckles. Also, what’s ur advice for playing in a usssa states E tournament where there is only 1 home run allowed. What would be ur strategy on defense if the other team has already used their 1 home run. The fields are big league dreams size fields
@FastFlash-dg2fc middle knuckles, yes. E is a bit tricky because it is less about strategy because most E players are just trying to make contact. I would have your pitcher keep it as close to 10' as possible and make sure your defense is shifted together. If you want to throw the batter inside, then shift to the left.
@@hittingwiththenation I copy that. Anything else you can think of that could help a little ? I was thinking, if they already hit their homerun, play the 5 man on the opposite side of the hitter, trying to make them pull the ball and hit a home run, which would then make it a DBO inning over
Not particularly. But a heavy endload can be much harder to cut downward and not be loopy with the bat path. You would ha e to have pretty strong forearms
