Yea it seems ragdoll have gone downhill since BF3 where they had silky smooth ragdoll instead of the animated Michael Jackson moves we get now
If they want to tell the untold stories of WWII, why don't they talk about Japan vs China?
Morgan Myer that’s what I’m saying bro everyone forgot Japan literally gave the Chinese a holocaust
Japan apologize to the countries they occupied and wanted to move on, seems they don't want to go back to that dark era.
It‘s officially not part of WW2, it‘s the sino Japanese war
@@rapliberationarmy089 and Japan occupied Manchuria long before ww2 right?
Ras Putin they did, but even the war between China and Japan that happened from 1936-1943 was not considered part of WW2, as that war was not connected to world war 2 until Pearl Harbor.
Despite its historical inaccuracies. Lets all admit that the scene with the german fighters is just so majestic... the music in the background.... the picture of the pilot's wife and son . too often do we find ourselves in the allied perspective.. and Dice gives us the chance to defend Germany.
aussieblackhawk123 the game is still pretty fun
You really think anyone is going to agree with you even tho what you said is completely true? Apparently people get so offended when history isn't right that they forget everything else

It’s both upsettingly frustrating and excitingly necessary that people are so affected by perspective when it comes to storytelling. On the one hand, it’s incredible that we even have the capacity to emotionally resonate with narratives about very real and very made up events alike (the most gritty and raw documentary, the most far fetched and fantastical sci fi), but that all requires some kind of perspective of author, even if it’s as big as “I made up this incredible world” or as small as “I chose to point my camera this way”. Finding a truthfulness of humanity within that is ultimately the core, but the message gets muddled if it starts to feel like the real grounding behind it (in the case of historical reference) starts getting ignored. In many ways, I understand people’s immediate frustration with historical inaccuracies, because those are too often the bits that are most noticeable. But it’s difficult to say that ANY form of this kind of storytelling is 100% accurate (history written by the victors and all that). Much of that other perspective is often unnoticed, and people dont take issue with it as a result. There’s always a slant of perspective, especially in the case of adapting hellish, world shattering events into forms of entertainment, like video games. But I never want us to lose the drive to find honesty and lessons in adapting historical truths to reach artistic truths. Sometimes that creates a piece of art that is even more truthful than base verisimilitude. When it works best though, it draws from unique perspectives you otherwise might not have considered, especially if you get locked into seeing an event only one way. I whole heartedly agree that a peek into the other side is a valid story to tell, and can have great impact when handled correctly
This was unironically the best mission of the campaign.
Alfred F. Jones the last tiger was the best for me, it had the feels, the heroics and the character building (for its short time anyways)

The opening to Narvik at 2:35 is so beautiful, it gives me goosebumps every time I watch it. The sad tone and the music, combined with the muffled artillery fire and the altered tone of the air-raid siren to harmonise with the music, just works so well. My favourite kind of video game music...

No matter how hard game developers try to make ww2 without mentioning nazis , I’ll never be able to look past it. The nazis were the main enemies of the war , and it just looks silly having Germans without swastikas. I understand some countries ban that symbol, but I feel like banning something does no good.
You do realize that these aren’t Nazi’s, they’re Wehrmacht who even hate the Nazi’s but they have to serve their country. The real and fanatical Nazi’s are the Waffen SS.
Fulcrum 67 I understand that bud you’re incorrect when you say the Wehrmacht hated the nazis because many Nazi members were in the Wehrmacht. The swastika was the symbol of Nazi Germany and they plastered it on uniforms, vehicles, flags, etc. it’s not an accurate representation of what the German military looked like, it’s the furthest thing from immersive. Revisionist history will lead to nothing good.
Ordinary_ Gamer The iron cross of the Wehrmacht was a symbol of their army , but they still used the swastika on their equipment. Why is it hard to accept that the Germans were NAZIS. The Hammer and sickle can be viewed as equally vile, but I guarantee it will be plastered all over this game lol. What a joke.
Ordinary_ Gamer Sorry to burst your bubble but towards the end of the war lots of Germans were in POW camps, and the Germans left fighting were still nazis lol. The Russians raped and pillaged there way to Berlin in retaliation of the failed German invasion. The Americans and the allies fought from the other front. The Wehrmacht and SS divisions fought in cohesion, I don’t know what school has been teaching you but the Germans were never fighting for good in ww2 lol. Ask Poland and the surrounding nations how nice the Wehrmacht were. It was all about conquest and world domination for the Germans .
Fulcrum 67 No, there were a lot of Nazis in the Wehrmacht. If you’re looking for a group that have been at odds with the Nazis, that would be the Luftwaffe.
That’s pretty fun how every enemy soldier has a giant spring under their helmet.
Well that is funny it’s not totally inaccurate because the trajectory of the bullet when come into contact with something will send it flying if not glued down or attached, what I’m saying is they are probably not wearing straps on their helmet, watch videos of people shooting a bricks or helmets, you’ll understand

German steel pride for fatherland
To summarize:
In 1940 a British commando (not a Paratrooper, since they weren't operative until late 1941) jumps from an american Dc3 Dakota into Narvik, Norway, wearing an uniform that was designed in 1943 for American Paras, and handing a gun from the future (the Sten is a 1942 design). He is met by loads of evil Germans with only MP40s (they weren't so commonly spread among infantry units) who still go down like flies, and then is killed by a Tiger 1 Ausf E on a wooden bridge.
The same tank, a Tiger 1 which saw battle for the first time at Kursk, 1943, and on the Kasserine pass, still 1943, is then shown trying to breack the defensive perimeter over the hills of Tobruk (which is actually not only on the coast of Lybia, but even on a quite flat surface) and facing some Shermans including a 1944 Calliope. Not just that, but the Germans are so politically correct they decided to change the swastika they had on the flag with an Iron cross... which would be fine, if only I was sure it's actual historical research and not just censorship at his worst.
Then we're projected to Kasserine pass, 1943, where a French sniper (what?) is shot by a Messerschmit Bf109 passing by randomly, just because.
A similar aircraft is shown to be fighting over the Rhur, or wherever that is, in 1944. Shooting down what for sure are British airplanes, as they seem to be Bristol Blenheims. Over Germany, in full daylight.
Not even close to reality, since Brits made their raids almost always at night with heavier bombers, and were the Americans who preferred daylight attacks.
Also, a Spitfire MkV wouldn't be able to escort the bombers so far without auxiliary fuel tanks. Actually, not even the bombers would have probably reach so far depending on both the base from which they left and the target.
That without even considering the fact that both the Me 109 and the Spitfire seem to have unlimited ammo. But that's a common cliche, fine.
This is NOT the kind of historical accuracy I expect from a title like Battlefield.
Even Call of Duty managed to get it more right on quite a few things!
(and this is definitively saying something)

Can't you just buy or don't buy the game. Don't sit here being all butthurt because a very tiny detail is missing. I also like how you say that the Spitfire MkV wouldn't be able to escort those bombers that far. If you complain about that detail. Art Of Your Mom He is correct regarding the eastern front. That is where Germany lost the major part of its armed forces. Soviet suffered the most casualties in the entire war due to the German campaign, that leaves us with the fact that the resistance that defended Europe against the allies after D-Day were the scrubs left.
Nevertheless, important operations took place on the western front. But it should never ever be compared with the slaughter in the east.
British paratroopers wearing American infantry equipment.
This is only in the opening 3 minutes, mind you.
All I can say is we did share a lot of equipment with eachother. At one point the Brits had their own Shermans so, y'know.
Jesus fucking Christ, IT'S CALLED LEND LEASE.
If you can find a photo of British soldiers wearing American webbing then I'd be more than willing to retract that statement, Chris.
You mention Land lease program, but we're talking about uniforms. Seriously, in which alternative universe is what you mean actual? Apart from the fact that yes, the British had Shermans, but slightly different from the American version (also known as M4A2) and just from early 1942, Land lease was never about uniforms and personal equipment.
And for sure a British Commando (British Paratroopers weren't operative as an actual unit until late 1941) wouldn't have worn an American uniform in 1940. In Norway. Jumping from a Dc3 Dakota in the middle of Narvik. At night. To be shot by a goddam Tiger tank on a wooden bridge.
I know this is not supposed to be historically accurate, but come on! It's just like having the U.s. Navy seals hunting Napoleon Bonaparte with bow and arrow!

The scene in the 109 makes me cringe so badly as a flight sim enthusiast
the air combat im sure is much better, this guy playing is trash, painful to watch that air scene
It is not about the person playing it, you would understand why i said that the air combat feels too arcade if you played any flight sims before or know how a prop plane like BF-109 operates at high altitude. In BF5, fighters look like they are UFO or something. Turning with impossible agility at high speeds and gaining speed like rockets are attached to the plane at such high altitude. Too arcade for my taste. CoD:WW2 has a very similar scene with fighters behaving the same way...

The war stories are fucking atrocious don’t even play them
Even this opening has tons of anachronisms however, I must commend this opening because despite all its problems
It’s very moving and has some good social commentary
What about the last tiger
Admit it's not a bad opening. I like how the soldiers are all speaking their native languages instead of speaking English with an accent of their native language. That's definitely a plus Mark. However from what I can see there are a couple of historical inaccuracies. Now I'm not a certified World War historian. So if anyone knows anything else feel free to add it. But here are a couple of things that to my knowledge either didn't happen or something similar.
First and foremost. To my knowledge the British did not conduct an Airborne assault on the Norwegian Port of narvik in 1940. Let alone with american-built c-47 SkyTrain aircraft. Not to mention from what I saw they were wearing American helmets. Mid War American helmets I might add. When the US first entered World War II they were still using Brody style helmets from World War 1.
I also don't recall the Tiger tank being in service in 1940. Let alone built in 1940.
Next we have kasserine pass. Now to my knowledge the French Senegalese didn't take part in the Battle of kasserine pass. If I recall correctly the French didn't take part in kasserine at all. The Battle of kasserine pass was one of the first battles that the United States fought against the Germans during World War II. So if anything we should have been playing as Americans rather than French.
Next the Battle of tobruk. Now I really love that part. The fact that we finally got to play something or will get to play something from a German perspective in World War II no less. That's actually really cool. I still have my misgivings with the bastardized German flag but I'm willing to let that slide. I'm glad to see that they made it so that the tiger would basically be able to one shot the Sherman tanks towards the end of that sequence. Because well in reality it could actually do that. I found this part 2 probably be the most historically accurate although it's still not perfect. To my knowledge no King Tigers wood if I recall correctly was what we saw twiddling around on the left hand side of the screen most of the time we're actually in Africa at the time. I could be wrong but who knows. Also I think it would have been me if the tiger that we were driving in that mission was tiger 1-3-1. For those who don't know tiger 131 is the last functioning Tiger 1 in the world. And currently resides at the bovington tank Museum in England. Was also used in the film Fury.
Next we have the aerial battle over Germany. To my knowledge the British wouldn't have had twin-engine bombers flying a daylight raid over Germany even if it was in 4445. Not unless they were flying out of bases located in France. But again this could be wrong on my part. To my knowledge the British focused almost exclusively on night bombing. While the Americans did daylight operations. So if anything the bombers we should have been targeting should have been American bombers. But like the sequence with the Tiger tank I really enjoyed the fact that we are finally getting to see things from the perspective of a German.
Finally we have nijmegen Bridge. The Battle of nijmegen bridge is probably one of the most interesting sequences in my mind. now again to my knowledge I don't think Allied armor made it to the battle of nijmegen Bridge. But I could be wrong. I liked how the British soldiers were all wearing the characteristic red Berets of the 2nd parachute regiment. That was indeed something I liked. I also liked how at the end we were playing as a British paratrooper who was clearly wounded and we were given the essentially ability to do kind of a last stand with a 45 pistol. However the fact that a V-1 missile was used as essentially a tactical weapon is complete bubkes. The Germans never used the V1 in this method. The V1 and it's cousin the V2 we're all used to attack places like London and Antwerp.
Overall it was a good prologue I definitely am interested however I don't think I'm going to get this game right out of the gate. I might just decide to wait until Christmas or something. But I'm not sure yet. Hell I might even just completely skip over this game. But again I'm not sure. However I think my favorite part of that opening was not so much the game play itself but the subtle link with Battlefield one specifically the image of the lone German Soldier and the lone black American Soldier pointing their weapons at one another. I really like that.
Finally a comment that actually analyzes the vid
