I think taste is a physical property. While it is true that if something tastes sour, it is acidic, which gives us an idea of what type of substance it is. But it doesn’t describe its chemical behavior immediately. I mean taste, in the previous example, tells us this is an acid but we have to figure out how an acid behaves to know its chemical behavior. The same argument applies to pooling points. If a substance’s boiling point is very low it is likely to be organic (like a hydrocarbon), but it doesn’t tell us what the chemical properties are.

Now I must ask, because according to numerous sources I've read taste is a physical property. Can you explain this? I think as I understand it, it's because the physical property a compound may have is sensed by the taste receptors and sends a signal to the brain. In this whole process no products are made, nor bonds broken thus no reaction takes place. Can you explain why you put taste in the chemical category? Heres just one source which says taste is a physical property.

Physcial property is a characteristic of material that can be observed without changing the materiald composition. it is usually observed using the senses, like size, shape, and smell. it also often involve measurements, like density, volume and mass.
Chemical property is a characteristic of material that is observable when material changes into a new substances with different properties. this change is brought about by materials reaction with heat, air, and other substances fot example: paper is *flammable* meaning it catches fire easily. when it burns it becomes an entirely different material.
