  • Boxing Combinations - Combo Builder Series - Changing Levels
    If you're new to boxing - whether it be training or observing as a fan - you have likely seen professional fighters throwing a whirlwind of punches so quickly and vicious that they appear arbitrary and random. Of course, we know this is not the case. In fact, professional boxers have spent thousands of hours training and perfecting these boxing combinations, that is, the stringing together of multiple punches. When we observe these boxing combinations by professional fighters, they flow elegantly as second nature.
    At this point, you may be thinking that these combinations are difficult and complex. While yes, they indeed can become complicated as they get much longer, they are pretty simple and stem from only a handful of punches. We will cover some of the basic boxing combinations that every beginner should learn, practice, and become second nature.
    A boxing combo is a sequence of punches and movements that you execute to attack or counter your opponent.
    A successful boxing combo is one where you manage to:
    land your shots
    protect yourself from any counterattack from an opponent
    quickly get out of your opponent's reach
    All good punching combinations help each individual punch deliver the power of the whole body as it moves through each punch and sets your feet, hands, and body weight for the next punch.

    If you're looking to improve your boxing combinations to widen your arsenal, you can start here. Many of the following combinations are simple but effective because they flow fluidly and are set up well.
    A combination of punches in boxing consists of stringing blows together smoothly and efficiently. Those wanting to master advanced combinations should hone their basic punches first. Start with jabs, crosses, hooks, and uppercuts, and then move on to slips and rolls.

      The guy holding the pads is helping train some bad habits. He's holding the pads out way too far. What's he training the guy to punch at? Air? Get the Sh-- closer to your face bro. It will also save your shoulders when you start working with someone that can actually throw. Oh, and it will train you to keep your gloves to cover your face. Making some cool noise though. ;-)

    • @tiko545
      @tiko545 5 лет назад

      you're right, I realized while sparring that I have a habit of punching the air instead my opponent's face - either because of bad mitt habits or I don't want to hurt my opponent :D

    • @psyendacy
      @psyendacy 3 года назад

      @@tiko545 haha dude I cant tell if you are being sarcastic or not... its brilliant. Ofcourse training like this works... training with pads improves accuracy and reflexes, it doesn't build bad habits and the way hes doing it is correct. Its a great way to improve the muscle memory.

    The speed is done according to the force of the blow at the appropriate time and time. But if there is a blow to adjust the time, the focus is placed on the axis of the hand until the 7th is completed at the same time.

    I see your extending your left out to meet him when he throws that left hook, but unless he uses his footwork to step in, his left hook will be well sure of his opponent. Any reason for doing this? Is it to help beginners when they're first starting to learn/throw combos?

  • @sgt7

    Nice vid thanks. However it would be nice to know what the opponent would be doing when on the receiving end of this combo. For example, is the hook thrown because the opponent moves in, is the opponent roughly in the same spot with his guard up throughout the combo (except when the right is thrown)?
    I'm aware the opponent can be doing anything but I just wanted to know the situations where such a combo would work.
    Anyway, good vid thanks.
