8 years later and I still think of this mashup every time I hear either of these songs on their own.

I used to think these were two really different songs to mash, until I thought about it this way;
One party (Sam) has cheated on the other (Casey) and the first is begging for forgiveness and to come back. The second is discarding all of their declarations of love and excuses saying that it's all worthless and doesn't mean anything now that they've been unfaithful.
Suddenly the juxtaposition makes complete sense!! Just listen to some of the lyrics that are given to each of them. Like in the second bridge, Casey has the bridge from thinking out loud and Sam continues the verse. Casey wonders whether he should take Sam back because 'maybe it's all part of a plan'. Then they join on 'making the same mistakes. Same mistakes for Sam could be his infidelity and for Casey could be ignoring the signs.

you both have absolutely beautiful voices!! these two songs are actually my favorite songs right now. but I can't help but think that the covers would have been better as two separate videos... only because the message of the two songs are so different that they don't match... so the mash up seems forced. Even so... beautiful beautiful cover!
I agree, I thought the two conflicting themes made the video a little off. They both sang beautifully, I love the two songs, and at times the overlap did work, but it just didn't fit for me. It was a lovely video and I'm definitely going to check Casey out!!

My sincerest condolences for your loss. I first saw this video a couple years after one of my best friends was killed by a drunk driver back in 2013. Since then, this has been something I've watched to cope every time I think about her. Hope things are going well on your end during these troubling times.

So many years later, and these two are still magic together!
I really love Sam, but I gotta be honest, I don't know how you could put these songs together. One is a beautiful profession of a strong, honest, limitless and lasting love - the other is about a deceitful, lying and dishonest relationship and cheating. The words just clash. Like, I think of songs like a story being told.. This just doesn't go for me. It's full of contradictions. "Daring I will be loving you til we're 70.." and then "For months on end I've had my doubts.." For me, its like "What? You've just said you'll be loving her til you're 70.. Now you're having doubts?" haha
Your voices are so gorgeous though. I just personally don't like the two songs together :) xxx
I agree with you that the lyrics don't really match up and of course you are entitled to your opinion. However, please consider this interpretation of what is going on here. I think what they are trying to do is to create enough contrast to show that these two men with completely different stories to tell can somehow be expressed at the same time. These stories are not uncommon today, and I'm sure all kinds of people experience both of these stories, so the idea is that these people are expressing their joy or brokenness at the same time, just as Sam and Casey sing at the same time in perfect harmony. That's why the contrast is what makes it so good, because it symbolizes how everyone is human and goes through these kinds of situations together. It might be a stretch, but that's how I see it. Either way, this is a phenomenal mashup! #samtsui

My first thought that they are both portraying the same man. Sam is the man who is young and in love, but Casey is the same man, years later, who's wife is cheating on him. The word do clash, but in a beautifully heartbreaking way.
