  • After conducting the Mann-Whitney-Wilcoxon-test in R with the result of a difference between the two group medians, an effect size is needed, in order to quantify/classify the magnitude of this effect. For the Mann-Whitney-Wilcoxon-test, r is a suitable effect size.

    In R, the wilcox_effsize()-function of the rstatix-package offers the corresponding computational possibility.
    Be aware that the classification is reasearch field specific. For the social and behavioral sciences, the paper Cohen, J. (1992), A Power Primer, p. 157 is usually cited:
