Samantha for the jeans shorts that are too big for you in the waist, you could sew a 3 to 4 inch piece of elastic in the inside back (directly in the middle) and that should take care of the gap. Make sure you pull on the elastic as you sew to get that scrunchy affect and use a zigzag stitch

If you like those grey shoes for your husband look at snook brand they sell at journeys I know for sure. They are the cut of a penny loafer( kind of) but they use really natural looking fabrics so you can dress them up or down and they feel really comfortable.

On the 2nd dress but you tried on you could try using double-sided tape to pull the top closer together. That way there's not a lot of cleavage or not having to wear a tank top underneath the dress.
