Awesome video. I figured out how to open up maschine as a plug-in, but how do I open up a project I already made in maschine and link that into ableton?
Thank you! Thank you!! Thank you!!! .... did I say thx? BTW, what to do if you have multiple Maschine groups? Let's say I have 6 groups in Maschine. How do you assign your tracks in that case? I have an idea (assign each group to a single external output for example) but would like to know how you do it. Thanks again!
You're welcome! There are only 16 assignable outs. To my knowledge you would have to use another instance of Maschine to get another group out. Or you could do 16 groups with a stereo output for each but that's about it as far as I know.
Thank you for the Video, it has helped me a great deal. why are the hats sent via the group and the other sounds via the sound output? Thanks. Also, i might have missed it but you said you would explain why you were routing the output of the 1st kick to ext 2 and not ext 1, why is that? now i seem to have one pad without a number cause all the 15 other slots are already routed and accounted for, and the ext 1 is free agent.
Hi Cheef C, The Ext 1 output is mapped by default to the track that Machine is on so when you go to pick up the signal on the audio track that you want to route maschine sounds to, you won't see EXT 1 as an option for the input of the audio track. It only starts at EXT 2 and goes to EXT 16 so you're only able to record 15 outputs at the same time because the 16th is a dedicated output for the track that the maschine plugin is on. Hope that makes sense. As for the kick, snare, hats are all being sent to the group. The group and the rest of the tracks are being sent to the master output. It's just the way I like to set it up. You don't have to group the sounds that you're recording out of Maschine if you don't want to.
I don’t find this as the easiest way to get sounds out of machine to Ableton Live. I find it much more easier to trigger the scenes from machine over a midi note to play it in machine but in this workflow I get full control over the midi notes in machine and can make still variations, fill in‘s, automation things in machine without to rendered to audio file before!
HOLODECK PROJECT I'd love to see your workflow on it. I've tried just about every variation I could think of for using Maschine in Ableton and this has been the easiest and best way for me. I don't build full songs in Mashine anymore though so I haven't had a need to trigger scenes in Maschine.
How do you export drum groups/individual sounds from maschine to ableton to use in a ableton drum rack? I have created different drums using maschines drum synth and want to use those sounds in ableton drum rack
Export the audio from Maschine to Ableton the same way I show in the video then just drop the audio samples into a drum rack. I do that sometimes as well.

How did you get ableton to accept maschine outputs as individual external tracks? On my end trying to do this it feeds ext. 2 into ext. 3/4, ext. 3 into 5/6, etc
I missed this comment when it got posted. It sounds like you haven't chosen the Maschine track as your input source on the Ableton track. "Ext In" would be the input from your audio interface and not Maschine which would explain why you're seeing Ext 3/4 instead of the individual Mascine inputs. Click on Ext In and choose the track with Maschine. Then the drop down menu below that will show you the Maschine outputs which would be Maschine 2, Maschine 3, etc. If you follow the steps in the video it walks you through how to do this as well.
Ableton takes over the transport functions of Maschine so you'll only be able to stop and start playback with Ableton but not sure if that is what your problem is. Maschine won't loop anything even when Ableton is playing?
Hi @josebriceno8044, you can take any audio output from Maschine and record it into Ableton using this technique, synths and other instruments. It's just a matter of digitally connecting Mascine's outputs to Ableton's inputs and setting up a track in ableton to record the audio.
Yeah, you should be able to. It's just a matter of assigning the outputs of the FX and then setting the inputs on the Tracks in Ableton to correspond with those outputs. I'll double check though because normally I just keep the FX internally routed inside of maschine.
hi, why is ableton always creating stereo tracks automatically , even the drums sounds are all in mono? is there any tip to get these in mono? i know about option during a export - convert in mono, but is there any else?
el musik as far as I know Ableton only ever creates stereo tracks in the session. You could use utility plugin on tracks you want mono and set the width to 0% that's the only option I've come across so far.
thanks! looks exactly what i'm looking for. when i create a drum rack, there is "MIDI from" ... can you explain how you initially created the "empty" drum rack with those three audio tracks? that would be great.
stefan111977 I didn't use a drum rack for this tutorial. The three tracks you see are audio tracks that are accepting audio from the Maschine track in the session. If you want to use Ableton's Drum Racks you would necessarily need to use this approach.
I had a problem with the audio not being in time with the session when I exported audio stems from Maschine. There's only a max of 16 outs unless you use more than one instance of Maschine in the session. Sounds like you're looking for a template that doesn't lose the routing setup when you load a new kit right?
Exactly. Just looking for a universal option within Maschine software that keeps all tracks routed out individually even when switching kits. Doesn't seem like a hard option to add if it doesn't exist already.
The best way I'm familiar with for making that happen would be to set up Maschine the way you want it to operate (with the routing) then save it as an instrument rack. Then you can recall it with the routing already set up every time and just swap out sounds as needed.

You route the outputs of Maschine to the inputs of each Ableton track so you can export individual sounds.
If you're talking about setting it up so you play midi in Ableton so the midi in Ableton triggers sounds in Maschine, yes it is possible. I've done it but it's pointless if you have a maschine controller because it's easier to record and edit midi notes in Maschine and then export the audio into Ableton for mixing.

It's just another workflow option. In my experience it just adds unnecessary steps and I've found that the less I have to get out of the DAW the faster I can work. Once you export the audio, then you have to make sure it gets exported to the right folder and then re-import the audio to the session but by recording it into the session the audio files end up in the session folder by default. It avoids the possibility of losing the audio files of forgetting to add the audio files to the session folder if you need to share the session with someone.

It would be good if when you say "on a mac hit the Command button" you need to add "or if you are on a PC hit the Control button", seeing that a mac keyboard is a copy of a PC which is a copy of an ASCII keyboard; this saves the translation which is a needless distraction. The lack of translation is when you do it in a Mac and I have to figure that out in PC speak, and I have lost what you are teaching me I have had to learn something irrelevant to the topic at hand. This is all part of the In-Crowd issue with Jargon. Anyhow this has saved me loads of time - I have a Machine and a Push2 into Ableton, both have their good points. So it would be nice if you have a Push2 to have a demo of using them both, because you can use the Machine as a scratch pad using a load of the NI packs (eg using DeepMatter). Also with your Template, can you male it a little clearer about mapping all of Machines 16 channels to 16 of Abletons just so its is easy to just connect to Machine and everything is as you expect each time. And thanks again.

So now one must be politically correct when talking tech, so as not to offend different os users? WTF has happened to this generation!
Lot of job, para esta mierda de máquina.... If I have on project with 60 tanks??? Maschine es una mierda
