i herniated 2 discs 10 years ago and it the pain was crippling... instantly. it was like i have been broken in half. took a major surgery to fix it with a fusion of the nearby vertebrae. there's no way he wasn't high as a kite on pain killers if he was moving like that.

It is amazing how Shawn Michaels' four year retirement came to an end just as his cushy contract was coming up - and would not be renewed at that price, were he still out.
Can't say his back wasn't hurt - but I surely suspect the severity.

Was amazing wasn’t it. I’d just like to add with the whole back injury thing and how they were questioning how he could do all these things on the show the next night after suffering such and injury. I recall hearing on what I believe was Bruce Prichard’s podcast a couple years ago that Shawn even said he felt fine the night and following day after the match, it was just a day or two after Raw he woke up and couldn’t stand up or do anything. I think they were saying he had to crawl on his hands and knees to get to a phone to call for help where then an ambulance came (along with Bruce I think) and they loaded him in for a trip to the hospital. Now, Bruce can give Shawn a run for his money on the “full of shit” meter but I have heard of flaring up like that days after a trauma. Just wanted to mention that to play a little devils advocate

it's likely true, when you consider this:
hbk was on a ton of drugs. so he was always taking something, not allowing the pills to be out of his system.
they tape raw, he sleeps for a few hours, gets up, takes more pills, goes and does tuesday raw (which was taped).
flies out wed morning, still on pills, gets home, probably takes some muscle relaxers and/or sleeping pills, goes to bed.
was likely asleep for 12-15 hours (yes that happens when you're on drugs and go days without proper sleep, body will want to catch up) and when he woke up, now being sober, his body can FINALLY tell him "hey, dude? you're screwed!!!"
shoot, my back is going out on me, had a bit similar experience the other day (took my last pain pill of the day about 3 hours before bed, went to sleep, woke up feeling okay...until i started to move, then my back decided this day won't be a pain free day without drugs either).

19:33 am I mistaken or did Paul Bearer not get bullet points and come up with his own promos? Notice it's only when people don't like the promo that they blame a script , but then if they do like the promo they want to say their wrestler came up with it on their own
Promo's are written by the writers, that being, Russo, Cornett, Prichard and McMahon. All talent would go over the script, take the important stuff and make the rest their own. Goldust had talked about that in an interview a few years back.
