physics + training + practise + mental/spiritual capacity of the breaker. The last part for the shaolin is through the roof. Their focus and technique and form allows this.
if you will look closely at the garden trim piece , that is about two feet in length, he is hitting it dead center, thus hyper flexing an already weak piece of particle concrete....the first part of the demo shows additional landscaping bricks being broken, its spectacular but in no means exceptional, you can do the same stunts....just visit the local landscaping supply store
they can break those easily because of the simple art of meditation. the calmer the mind, the less pain you feel and the stronger you get. it seems quite easy but controlling your brain pulses is something which is really hard.

This stuff is bananas! I dare anyone criticizing this stuff to try it out for themselves. Go ahead, try it! See what happens. The next thing they know, they'll be in the ER with the nurse asking them the reason they're there.
The skull consists of 9 main bones, it is not a single bone. The hardest human bone is the petrous bone (in your inner ear). The Os Femoris, your upper leg bone, can take the most strain/stress. My second main quality is wise-assing.
of course there are different kinds of bricks......but they are usually made with the same material that hardens after a short period of time...i was just making a point.....i can't break a brick yet, so i can't tell if they are real or not......
Not that I would want to try it but the whole purpose of breaking the one under is head is to help absorb the shock. Impressive would be laying on a hard surface and doing that. :)
shaolin monks train 2-3 hours a day every day for a minimum of 2 years to specificaly strengthen their heads to be "stronger than steel" by consistantly taking increasingly hard blows to the forehead and scalp, also rendering them unable to feel the pain
send qi to the area about to be hit to save the area, plus theres warm-up beforehand and these guys have been toughening up their heads for years, my school calls it qi-defense
The bricks under his head didnt break. I think that would have hurt him. Either way he did apply a lot of force to his head and those don't look like brittle bricks. It's easy to tell by looking you know.
Like the part where he mashes a banana with his head. They call 'em the banana musher, nana mousho in japanese... I heard he could cut a banana with a his bear hands :O unbelievable. I remember I once did it on accident it was brilliant, but the pan got stuck in my cousins nose. He had to go to the hospital and all, but I was happy because I cut my first banana ever with a toothbrush it was incredible.
Ok all you people who keep saying its physics or this is fake when you post a video CLEARLY showing what happens and break through them then you can complain
Okay but I'm gotta tell you that martial arts people and non-martial arts people have the big differences. If you don't know, compare kungfu master with a normal person and you will see
yep. i agree, those masonry bricks aren't shit to break. i was impressed till' i noticed what it was. yet....i'll still leave it to these guys to do these breaks.
to all those envious ppl out there - this is legit....why would they spend their whole life focusing on vital energy and stuff? i have seen them live....its real. lets see u guys try.
its nothing serious. those things are pretty weak, the broke all the time when I was placing them in my garden. When we were chainging them to geods I broke most of them by pushing them into my side. Those are actually pretty frail, the sholin knock offs are fail.
this is true in discover channel the show... the body pushing the limits? they feel no pain because they calm down or something. then they feel no pain
ok here i go.1. its martial arts xD not material... 2. he did break bricks, wood and other stuff^^ not on his head but he did 3. this kind of thing is show and i hope u know what show is. its for the people not for themselves, they know how strong they are.
"and yet they have neither the burnt iron dragons on the forearms or the incense marks on their heads wich true shaolin monks bear.."(Snoribo comment) I read in the book, "American Shaolin", that is a myth.
@ArandomCanadian actually u don't get it , i was prefer to the iron technique which have requirement of begin a virgin and train while they r still very young . look it up . . suppose to be 18 iron monk style or so. I didn't mean to disrespect thou. Unlike the west , the east actually treasure virginity .
really??? so can you break a brick over YOUR head??? or even with your fist???? cuz i can't.....i've been practicing a brick break, but it's hard as hell....these guys are no joke...either that or i'm doing something wrong..........
simple art of meditation? dont make me laugh. I'd like to see a veteran buddhist do it. The Shaolin call it Iron Armour, which is basically the repeated conditioning of striking surfaces in order to harden them. The Shaolin learnt this long before Wolff's Law explained it.
Takes years of conditioning. It only gets worse after each year. Anyways you and i probably could never achieve this because they literally train for hours. And you have to condition your mind. Lets not forget your mind controls your body.
they dont nessecairly have to be monks. Near the real shaolin temples are a bunsh of schools which kinda pretend to be shaolin. These schools are those you mainly see on tour, making money for a living.
Like i said, pointless, discipline ....tell me one great amazing material artist like bruce lee or some1 who went around smashing bricks on his head...POINTless hahhaha More comments on my comments plz! take care every1!
@SkemeKOS Damn straight true bro , Fuck where to find super smart ppl like u nowadays(im not being sarcastic),soo many gullible ppl these days. Its for show true

of course there are different kinds of bricks......but they are usually made with the same material that hardens after a short period of time...i was just making a point.....i can't break a brick yet, so i can't tell if they are real or not......

Not that I would want to try it but the whole purpose of breaking the one under is head is to help absorb the shock. Impressive would be laying on a hard surface and doing that. :)
ive broken base ball bats wit my shin at a martial arts demo it hurts like hell but i did it on my first try wit some instruction first ^_^
my sensei calls it iron body. its so amazing how much damage the human body can absorb.
What would Mr Miyagi say?!
"Why break bricks? What bricks do to you?"
I know this monk, he's in Shaolin Temple in Flushing, New York. He's famous here in Queens.
shaolin monks train 2-3 hours a day every day for a minimum of 2 years to specificaly strengthen their heads to be "stronger than steel" by consistantly taking increasingly hard blows to the forehead and scalp, also rendering them unable to feel the pain
well let me put it this way, i would like to choose the bricks for them right before the demonstration.
send qi to the area about to be hit to save the area, plus theres warm-up beforehand and these guys have been toughening up their heads for years, my school calls it qi-defense
Deffintely no one who hasn't gone through years of training and strengthening you bones should try this.
some folk write boooks, some folk jump outta planes.. these folk choose to smash bricks on their heads..
now where is my hacksaw..
oh dang!!!
Who needs brain cells when you can kick ass?
im amazed it didnt give him a concushion or make his dizzy, would be sick if his head got crushed
The bricks under his head didnt break. I think that would have hurt him. Either way he did apply a lot of force to his head and those don't look like brittle bricks. It's easy to tell by looking you know.

he might have a hell of a headeck after the show O-o
Ha, now that's discipline.
they put them selves in a sort of hypnosis state so all the pain that enters the mind doesnt really register as pain.
I'd say the best one.. although it kinda makes me cringe at the thought of a failure.. but yay for physics at work.
i would never risk cracking my skull like that.
Ok all you people who keep saying its physics or this is fake when you post a video CLEARLY showing what happens and break through them then you can complain
He's using his iron head bro, iron head, chi is important here!
@gusdbz Even if it's not hard bricks, it's still a very hurtful event.
Aha! So that's why i always feel dizzy!
I think the bricks are specially designed.

Those are baked brittle bricks.
brick is quite weak in tension...

No, it makes them celibate. You don't have to be a virgin to become a monk. Those who became a monk as a virgin stays a virgin.

as Russians say if you can't get smarter then get stronger
Okay but I'm gotta tell you that martial arts people and non-martial arts people have the big differences. If you don't know, compare kungfu master with a normal person and you will see
