- Her reign was supreme, and she captured the imagination of people the world over. They knew her by La Doña. They knew her by Maria Bonita. Her real name was Maria Felix, and she was one of the most successful and beautiful actresses in Latin American. She shunned Hollywood’s seductions and remained true to her roots, but her script was a drama including tragic loss, kidnappings, bitter rivalries-and murder.

BEST NARRATOR. Hang on every word.
💯💯 I will watch/listen to all this narrator's videos. Sorry to say, but most of the others, I cannot bear to listen, so I skip them completely
When a good relationship ends badly there are those who would rather remember the joys and the warmth they once shared. Maria Felix was NOT one of those people.
People who now about her are willing to give her a pass bcause of her beauty. That affair with the cabaret owner Frede was news to me.Being of Mexican descent and someone who watched her movies I thought I knew all about her life . That was a real revelation.
Same here!
She looks like a combination of Rita Hayworth and Linda Darnell.
No Deborah Kerr all the way.
What a stunning woman!
Very interesting. That film with the arms coming out of the sand and the skeleton horseman looked very cool and surreal. Kind of like Leonora Finis' art. Great beauty comes with great problems.
RÓMULO GALLEGOS (born 2 August 1884 Caracas- died 5 April 1969 Caracas) was a Venezuelan novelist and politician. He began his work as a schoolteacher, writer, classical music enthusiast, and journalist in 1903. His novel Doña Bárbara was first published in 1929, and it was because of the book's criticisms of the regime of longtime dictator Juan Vicente Gómez that he was forced to flee the country. He took refuge in Spain, where he continued to write: his acclaimed novels Cantaclaro (1934) and Canaima (1935) date from this period. He returned to Venezuela in 1936 and was appointed Minister of Public Education.
She was ahead of her time
Latina beauty
Wonderfully told. Thanks
Never heard of her, but ta for the video.
Who is the Narrator? I could listen to him all day. Maria Felix was a SuperStar Diva on her own terms! Not so scandalous looking at other Diva's lives. Si?
She was really beautiful and intelligent.
Excellent video, Thank You.
An incredible life. Thank you for another wonderful episode.
One of your best!
Very interesting, thank you! She was gorgeous ❤ I’ll have to check out her movies
Beautifully done video
Thank you very much!
👀❤️🤩Mattel did a beautiful Barbie doll of her .
@@moniquemiller6648 really ... ? what was it called?

Oh goody, my fav narrator on this channel. Idk his name but thanks!
My parents used to watch her movies
Gorgeous and talented. When she would come to Hollywood/Los Angeles, she would sometimes dine in the Biltmore Hotel, downtown Los Angeles. My dad was a waiter there and she would always ask that he be her waiter for the night. Same goes for Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin and the Rat Pack and quite a few other celebrities of the time.
María de los Ángeles Félix Güereña
Oh. That's a nice story. Your dad must have been an excellent, kind person. Love it.
@@kristinepauwels4086 He was that indeed. He was a quick and hard worker with a charming personality. When I was maybe 6 or 7 years old. We were living in La Puente, California in the 2 or 3 blocks that comprised the "Mexican neighborhood" in the middle of what was still mostly a white semi-rural area. I once picked up the phone and a very distinctive voice asked for my dad. Years later when I was in my early 20's I asked my dad about that call. He said it was Bing Crosby. I went like 'Oh YEAH!".... LOL.
Excellent documentary! Maria Felix did not pronounce her name "FEE-lix", her surname was pronounced "FEH-leeks", as it was in Spanish.
Gotta respect her for blanking Hollywood
How come we never hear her speak. I would have like to know what she sounded like.
She had a deep voice,
THATS why i asked MONTHS ago IF THEY COULD INCLUDE AT LEAST A SNIPPET OF THE ACTORS VOICE IN THESE PROGRAMS !!!!!!!!!
Kinda like Miley Cyrus
Anytime a spouse, or partner is jealous to the extent this man did, I would think "projection". That is projecting onto another, the sins of the self.
She was an overcomer, and it's a good thing, because she sure had a lot to overcome. Mercy!!!
Maria Felix Doña Barbara ,the writer was Romulo Gallegos ,he was venezuelan ,he even was President of Venezuela ,the narrator mistakenly claim that the writer if Doña Barbara was a mexican writer ,please get the fact wright
What was the accident on set that caused her miscarriage? Not much detail was given.
.."men were falling over her..." - - _I'm_ falling over her and I'm a straight woman 😊 Gorgeous!
@13 minutes: He surrendered at her feet because he was flat broke and washed up - and he knew she was his only chance at escaping his plight of being homeless.
What was her big secret?
She always took cold showers. She was very beautiful, and admired in Europe and South America. I watched Dona Barbara and she comes across as very hard. She was a very good actress.
the background with all the moving dots is very annoying, it looks like bugs moving across my screen. very distracting
I felt the same way. I kept trying to figure out if it was bugs moving across the screen. Why not just enlarge the content and do away with the boarder? Generally a very good channel. And this particular narrator is very good.
Better to be a big dog in a Chihuahua pond.
*puddle
She looks like Deborah Kerr.

I was a tom boy I grew up to wear skirts and heels. Today they would try to make you trans!
He probably was already trans, no need for any trans intervention
He probably got it from his mother!
What a ridiculous remark 😒
@@crystalstevens4638 nope. It's true.
No one is making anyone trans. You either are or you aren't. Being a tom boy has nothing to do with feeling like you're a boy. You bigots will grasp any straw, won't you. It's pathetic.
Romulo Gallegos was Venezuelan not Mexican. Do the research properly or don't do it at all.
😮
Yes, please! That's like saying Ernest Hemingway was British.
I caught that mistake too. Had me wondering if he really was a Mexican
People make mistakes mate. I’m sure you do too.
@@Legionmint7091 True but when one makes a mistake about historical figures, that should be corrected. This is why there is fact-checking. Making a mistake is not itself terrible, it's making it, not acknowledging it, and correcting it.
