God’s Word is awesome! After John explains the deity of Christ throughout this chapter, it ends with Jesus telling Nathaniel “Truly, truly, I say to you, you will see heaven opened, and the angels of God ascending and descending on the Son of Man.” John 1:51. This is Jesus referring to Himself as Jacob’s ladder from Genesis 28. Basically, Jesus is saying I Am the way to heaven and I Am the connection between Heaven and earth. Love seeing yet another example of how Jesus fulfills the foreshadowing of Himself from the Old Testament.
John's Gospel is such a powerful portrait of Jesus's deity! From these very first words reminding us that He was there at Creation, it is such a beautiful picture of who Jesus is: the Son of God!
As I read Chapter 1, there was a couple of verses which stood out to me that I love. Verse 17: for the law was given by Moses, but "grace and truth" came by Jesus Christ. Verse 29: "Behold" the Lamb of God" which taketh away the sin of the world. And again, in Verse 36. Amen

Jesus IS the Word. He was WITH God in the beginning. He is the LIGHT of the world. There are such amazing truths just in the first few lines.
“For from his fullness we have all received, grace upon grace.”
