Smart collision prevention reduces the risk of collisions during laser cutting to a minimum. From the part contours, the process detects the parts which are at risk of tilting. It creates an optimized job processing strategy: The laser skillfully navigates around parts at risk of tilting. They are only cut free when there is no longer the risk of collision. This means you do not need to use microjoints, saving costly rework.

Would love to see some stats on throughput when using the scrap division for collision avoidance. Seems way to slow to be worth using.

      Dear James,
      Thank you for your question.
When your program is running with the Smart Collision Prevention option, it has different methods of avoiding collisions at its disposal, and it uses the method that works best for every situation. One of the methods is to cut the inner contours of a part that have a size that typically tilts and leads to collisions (i.e., scrap parts) into small pieces. These pieces are too small to tilt and cause a collision, so there’s no danger anymore. This method is especially helpful in night shifts when there’s not always an operator around and when process reliability is the most important target (more important than finishing the sheet as quickly as possible).
Have a nice, collision-free day! Your TRUMPF Team

      Dear James Irvine,
TRUMPF is also selling pre-owned machines which are refurbished and fulfill the same quality standard like the day they were “born”. Please visit our website to find out more about pre-owned machines and current offers: www.trumpf.com/en_INT/products/services/services-machines-systems-and-lasers/pre-owned-machines/
      Have a nice weekend.

What a waste energy and gas....

      Dear E A,
Thanks a lot for your interest in our machines! The feature Smart Collision Prevention actually saves energy and gas or rather, you waste energy and gas if you don’t use it. Smart Collision Prevention helps to guarantee a safe production by sending the laser on the right route to avoid collisions. Collisions can cause downtime and probably damage in the machine components (e.g. nozzle damage), so using a longer route to avoid colliding with a tilting part is more beneficial than to stop the production and repair the damage or readjust the machine parameters thanks to the collision. Plus, the machine in the video is equipped with a Highspeed Eco nozzle, which takes productivity and gas saving to another level - it can save up to 70% of your gas consumption while feed rates are higher than with a standard cutting nozzle. If you want to find out more about Highspeed Eco, it’s best to check out this web page: www.trumpf.com/en_INT/products/machines-systems/2d-laser-cutting-machines/highspeed-eco-web-special/. And here, you find out more about the general advantages of our TruLaser machines: www.trumpf.com/en_INT/products/machines-systems/2d-laser-cutting-machines/advantages-of-2d-laser-cutting-machines/ Don’t hesitate to get in touch if you have any other questions!
