I've been binging Uncharted video essays because of nostalgia. This series has always held a special place in my heart, from getting the first game on christmas morning as a kid and my parents watching me play the entire thing and being sucked into the story and were just as invested as I was. I love every single one of these games with all their flaws, I think Uncharted 4 is one of the best endings to any game franchise ever, replaying it as an adult too really makes the emotional weight of the game much more poignant. Beautiful soundtracks, captivating story telling, and characters that are worldly and show they feel like you and me. Uncharted is a shining example of how video games can be compelling pieces of art
As someone who has never played any of these games, I can honestly say this video has got me thinking I should finally give them a try! Haha! Another fantastic video, Arin! Well worth the wait!
Great video! Also fun fact, Cutter was supposed to be in more of Uncharted 3. The actor who played him learned he got a role in the Hobbit films during the making of the game (which meant having to go to New Zealand for filming), and that's why the Cutter is just abruptly gone after breaking his leg.

Lost Legacy was painful cause they put Nadine Ross as one of the leads. She only becomes likeable in the last quarter of the story where it's all set pieces and on rails essentially. The reason the game is painful cause of Nadine Ross isn't that she's unlikeable most of the story, its that she's playing the victim, the moral highground AND rewriting history. The big way that she rewrites the game's history (something Druckmann has a problem with as the original version of TLoU featured documents showing that the fireflies had failed every operation done on someone like Ellie before, thus justifying Joel more thoroughly in standing against their utilitarian method. However in the 2nd one cause Abby needs to be morally justified in murdering him, apparently they had never failed the operation and it was going to be a rousing success and the fireflies didn't have any of the fascist undertones they had in the first game.) The history of the game is rewritten because when she's in charge Shoreline mercs are all talking about all the illegal immoral warmongering, weapons dealing and coup de'tats they commit across the world for profit and how they can't wait to keep doing it. Meanwhile in Lost Legacy she's giving this sob story about how she uplifted them from that and how under her Shoreline was this merciful group who doesn't work for warlords or do arms deals (literally tells you a story during the game about how during an arms deal a guy wouldn't sell to her cause she was a woman, so she broke both his legs) And as I think EVERYONE would agree that as much as Chloe was under-utilized in TLoU 3 SO IS CHARLIE CUTTER AND HE WAS A MAD LAD, WHY WOULD CHLOE NOT PARTNER UP WITH HER OLD BUDDY CHARLIE!?

Great Retrospective! 👍 Look forward to more of your videos I couldn't agree more on your analysis of Uncharted 3 The amount of people that think 3 is better than 2 or 4 blows my mind. To me the flaws in the story are so glaring. Visually, soundtrack and gameplay was great but the story exacution made it one of the most disappointing releases for me. And omg the shipyard is the worst level and story beat created the series 💀I despise it
In my opinion, Uncharted Golden abyss was a great title for the PS Vita, graphics wise it was good for the Vita. Pair to the other games. It's really not great graphics. But the story is pretty simple, but at the same time really interesting. The new original characters for this game was also great too, Like Chase was a nice add-on to the cast of characters. And Dante holy crap! What an annoying hilarious piece of crap person. Imagine Eddie raja but more screen time and money. The main character is pretty much the same thing as lazarovage, But not really flashed out if I could remember correctly. But the one thing I love about Golden abyss Is that The collectibles are more telling of the story of the environment of each level Nate is in. You collect collectibles like pictures (Nate has a camera. It was supposed to be a Vita flex, including a machete for some reason) and treasures, or scoured throughout all the levels and you can open up the journal and actually understand more of the story of your environment, which what makes this game so fun to replay. Not the best game but a great game for a handheld device.
I like your video. The only thing that I don't like is you naming some of the work 'trash' or similar words. Someone could be putting their heartt and soul into the piece they were working on and they dont deserve such an attitude, even if it's not so good compared to other stuff in series. Not everything people made is brilliant, you are a content creator, you should know that. Sorry, english is not my native language, but I hope you understand.
This was a great video! I just finished all four games and this scratched the itch i had for a long video essay lol. I agree uncharted 4 is a 10/10. Subscribing :)
So Uncharted 3 could have been even better if they didnt make TLOU ? I wish they didnt made TLOU and focused entirely on uncharted 3, even tho uncharted 3 is still amazing as it but i feel they could have made it longer, the end felt a little bit too rushed
i just checked out the rest of the channel and i was happy to see that even though the vid is new it has already amassed enough views to be the second most viewed video on the channel. but it was funny asf when i realized that when you hover over the video you only see jak and daxter gameplay XD
I'm just here as a hater. Despise this series which ironaically makes me curious as to why people it. Great video by the way, can't even imagine how long it took to put togther. Ps - Uncharted 4 being an asurdly gorgeous game is something we can all agree on.
I recently replayed the first uncharted and I think it is so beautiful. I love the arcade look. The first level is so good looking to me. My wife thinks it looks like ass because she watched me play U4 but I love it lol I guess I just appreciate it
Uncharted is such a hard series to rank. All I know is that Uncharted 2 is my favorite by a mile. Each of the others I can easily detail many pros and cons. 1 is slight in the story department compared to what followed, but it’s just enough to justify the swashbuckling adventure; the game overall is a good time. 3 was far more ambitious than 1 with regard to story, but the story also felt all over the place; and the gunplay was markedly worse than Uncharted 2; combat is fun but feels more stiff and with less precise aiming; there seems to be a disconnect between some of the enemy animations and you shooting them (there’s just some jank to the combat, to put it simply). Still a great game though. 4 is the obvious choice for second place, as the combat is the best yet, the graphics are phenomenal and the acting is top notch….and yet…the pacing of the game is quite boring at times, especially to start. Even individual sections of good stages can feel like a slog, with too many “push the cart” puzzles or times you’re waiting to give your comrade a boost by holding triangle. I’ll include the puzzles in this because even though some are good, they just feel like they’re slowing down the action. So much of the game feels like an obstacle to me having a great time with it. But then when it opens up, it’s phenomenal again. Uncharted 2 is the only game that perfectly balances characters, story, pacing, action, gunplay, climbing. It’s like…divinely inspired or something. Every other game after it feels like what *could* have happened to Uncharted 2 if it was missing that je ne sais quoi. Nevertheless, as a series, Uncharted stands as a titan in gaming, and is one of my favorites. P.S. Great video, I loved it!

a lot of bias here😂
Great Retrospective! 👍 Look forward to more of your videos
I couldn't agree more on your analysis of Uncharted 3
The amount of people that think 3 is better than 2 or 4 blows my mind.
To me the flaws in the story are so glaring.
Visually, soundtrack and gameplay was great but the story exacution made it one of the most disappointing releases for me.
And omg the shipyard is the worst level and story beat created the series 💀I despise it
Fantastic video, kinda inspiring, I want to do something similar someday
Include all content even (Golden Abyss)
Not the best game but a great game for a handheld device.
ramses is the best character ever what are u smoking.
38:08 That is just flatout wrong.
Great review! so glad I found you! thank you! 🤩
Only 360 views ? I figured this was a video that had at least 500k views ! You did an excellent job, bud.
Buka Pintu!!! 🤌
Great video, maybe lose the border in the future but otherwise well put together! Subbed :)
This was a great video! I just finished all four games and this scratched the itch i had for a long video essay lol. I agree uncharted 4 is a 10/10. Subscribing :)
Guess you never played Golden Abyss and Lost Legacy huh?
How dare u diss eddy raja 😢
So Uncharted 3 could have been even better if they didnt make TLOU ?
I wish they didnt made TLOU and focused entirely on uncharted 3, even tho uncharted 3 is still amazing as it but i feel they could have made it longer, the end felt a little bit too rushed
Dude you got a great voice for videos .. waiting for something other than sonic content tho .. then I'll subscribe ..
nice video
I thought Eddie was memorable
i just checked out the rest of the channel and i was happy to see that even though the vid is new it has already amassed enough views to be the second most viewed video on the channel. but it was funny asf when i realized that when you hover over the video you only see jak and daxter gameplay XD
My wife thinks it looks like ass because she watched me play U4 but I love it lol I guess I just appreciate it
Please make a separate video talking more about the Uncharted 4 story
Man people saying “I grew up on this PS3/XBox360/Wii game” makes me feel so damn old
