Im not shooting the messenger here, but I need to say that this web part is far too limited to be of any use in the real world.
The thing microsoft have missed that would make this web part more universally useful, is to be able to type in a name (not just in edit mode) and return that person plus their report structure.
And also, the ability to navigate back or reset it if you want to do another search.
These simple things that are missing would make this webpart actually useful, so its such a shame that MS have missed the mark yet again and provided something that users get frustrated with.

I hear, you Toby, agree, it is pretty basic. I also wish it could be displayed more like a Visio diagram as well. Hopefully sometime

@@SharePointMaven I havent tried it in Modern SharePoint but I used to have a list associated with an Org Chart created in Visio that was made visible on a SharePoint page. I came here hoping it might have gotten easier with the newer toolset. It looks like that is not the case :(

@@geraldslonaker3289 I think I remember what you are talking about. No, this is not possible in modern as far as I know.

When I insert the webpart and I add the name of the first person, everything is fine and they show up with their profile picture and name. However, I do not see an option like you do where it says "people reporting to you". Even when I go to settings and change the number of levels, nothing shows up so all I can do is add one name and then nothing else. Why does my webpart not have the same message as yours (ie. "people reporting to")

The reporting structure is maintained in Active Directory (Entra ID). Org Web Part draws the information form AD, so make sure to populate that info there.

@@SharePointMaven So I have to take all the employees from teams and insert them into Azure in order for the web part to work?

@@stavro5198 Users should already be in AD. You need to fill out the reporting structure in AD

Thanks Maven! One question: I have default users (Lee gu, Adele Vance etc). When I put their name in the Org chart the images are not getting display though the account have images and I can see them in Teams. Any idea on this?

It has to do with Azure AD sync. Contact Microsoft

The company I work for is using the latest SharePoint and I am trying to create a communication site. When I add the organization web part for an individual I do not see anyone reporting to them. Can you point me in the right direction as to why? I think it is their AD but I don't know anything about it.

    • @SharePointMaven
      @SharePointMaven  Год назад

Yes, correct; all reports are maintained in Active Directory, so IT needs to update that info there.

Hi , is there any option to automatically show for current user org chat ? I mean instead of hard typing user there will be automatically typed current logged in user name ?

I'm in SharePoint Online via Microsoft 365, I've created my own page and am struggling to find anything similar to what you're showing - definitely not seeing Organizational Chart...

Hello! Thank you for your videos. Is there a way to manually enter people who might not be shown as reporting within our email system? For example, my org has a lot of "dotted line" reporting, but for the purpose of our communication site I would like to show them all on our org.

Thanks for the feedback! No, no way to enter people manually in this web part - it is all driven by Active Directory

Does the org chart update automatically? For instance, employee changes are shown here when updated in AD.

I noticed during testing that one manager who has 17 direct reports only shows the first 12 (4 lines of 3) direct reports. There is no "show more" button/link to see the other 5 direct reports that are missing in the view. Any thoughts?
