First of all, what is not mentioned here is that the Broncos skipped right over Brady Quinn and went to Tim Tebow because some fans bought a $10K billboard asking for Tebow to start. I've never seen that in the league ever!! As far as Kordell is concerned, he wasn't allowed to sit and learn like a traditional draft pick. He was in wide receiver meetings, running back meetings, QB meetings etc. When he was with the Steelers, he was not allowed to put 100% of his focus into being a QB. Maybe if Cower would have treated him as such, a different result may have illuminated.
Dang dude Kordell was the starter at Pittsburge for 5 straight years.. (1997-2001) and he had several good years...but his QB rating is terrible(70.7) and his TD/INT ratio is terrible 77/84. He was just too inconsistent!
Skip: you can say the defense helped, the kicker helped, blah blah blah...Tebow won. Also Skip: Ray Allen's 3 is the ONLY reason the LeBron won in 2013 & has a positive legacy. Wtf is up with Skip.
Ray Allen's 3 happened completely by chance (kudos to Bosh for keeping his head though). LeBron choked down the stretch in that game with turnovers (yes, he helped get them back into the game before that point, but in the last few minutes, he got really shaky). If Popovich wasn't dumb enough to take Duncan off the floor for that last play, Bosh doesn't get the loose ball and Miami loses. That said, there are so many other better critiques of LeBron's legacy in terms of the GOAT argument. Skip brings up the Ray Allen shot the way he does just to troll LeBron fans. It was an incredibly clutch shot on Ray's part to be sure. Saying that, it doesn't do it credit for insecure LeBron fans to compare it to Steve Kerr or Paxson hitting late shots. Jordan was not "bailed out" in the same way with series elimination at stake.
@@jameshayes164 I was watching it live in 2013 when it happened. Without that rebound and the clutch shot, Miami loses that game and the series (they were down 2-3, after all). They had some real luck with the scramble there, but luck is part of the game and the Spurs blew their chance. At the time when Skip was making those comments you could've argued that losing that series would've really hurt LeBron's legacy (he would've been 1-3 in the finals and 1-2 with his Miami superteam), but since he won two more later on, winning 2013 was extra nice because it gave LeBron his only repeat.
Tebow threw 19 TDs in 374 attempts with 9 Ints in his first 16 games of playing time. He scored 15 times rushing for 937 yards and 46 rushing first downs. Stewart threw 21 TDs in 440 attempts with 17 Ints in his first 16 starts. He scored 11 times rushing for 476 yards Tebow 34 scores Stewart 32 scores Tebow scored more often per attempt passing with about half the interceptions. Stewart got 11 seasons in the NFL and Tebow got 3 and only 16 starts. The other players in the NFL did not resent Tebow. The 1700 NFL players voted Tebow a top 100 player of the year after playing only 11 games in 2011. That says it all. Stewart started for 5 years in the NFL and seriously regressed after his first good season. Tebow never got another start after going to the playoffs in 2011. Rex Ryan let Sanchez score 13 times with 18 ints in 14.5 games and refused to put Tebow in the game after he scored 34 times in Denver with 9 ints. The fix was in. Tebow was blackballed. Kordell didn't suffer that fate. He got to play.
Eddie Barnum Yes he was speaking truth that day (as he always has). Have watched the NFL since at least mid 70s & even after they started giving black QBs some opportunities the NFL has spit them out the minute they deem them unworthy as a starter while slow white guys have 10 years careers as backups.
Jim Bob Yes! I’ve been a Steelers fan since the mid 1970s & I was in college when Dungy started getting interviews for head coaching the mid 1980s. Dungy actually got locked up in Kansas City due to a bench warrant when he forgot to appeal a traffic ticket for driving while black. I knew that he was the Steelers emergency quarterback in the late 70s. I think Pats Edelman was also a college QB. Dungy of course couldn’t get considered because he’s black but also at barely 6 ft & less than 200lbs he wasn’t going to get a shot either in the 1970s. Both Joe Greene and Tony Dungee wanted to be considered for head coach when Noll retired. Think about how many teams missed out on being contenders by not hiring Dungy.
@@r.williamcomm7693 I love the Steelers , because Pittsburgh reminds like Hamburg/Germany. So many great Athlets during the hole NFL decades. Hard workers and going through hard times with the Steelers!!!
The fact is Tim Tebow as far as "sports interest" is to NFL as Tiger Woods is to golf (I watched Tiger Woods and I HATE golf). I can't think of another sports figure that has this kind of impact to their sport as far as fan interest goes. Tiger Woods is the only other sports figure that draws fan "interest" like Tebow. And I think Tebow interest is BIGGER than Tiger Woods for golf. This is a major RATINGS BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM for NFL and any and all sports programs discussing Tebow.
I love how Kordell tries to spin a racist angle to this. Carson Palmer was picked up by Hue Jackson(A black head coach). Jake Delhome was a better qb than Rodney Pete so he started. Aaron Brooks was an awful QB.
Kordell quit it with the race card bro. Your TD-INT ratio said it all, so mediocre. Did you really ask where Aaron Brooks was??? He was so terrible, man just shut up!!
So Kordell has a rather inflated view of himself. played for Steelers and Bears total of 9 years.. Threw more interceptions than touchdowns(77/84). Tebow was 17/9 and 4 of the INT's were in one game. QB rating...Kordell is 70.7, Tebow is 75.3. Kordell played on several great Steeler teams: 1997, 2001... 2001 was his best year... Team was 13/3. Kordell had a 60% completion and a rating of 81.7. but the next 2 years he was injured for part of the seasons? Was 5 wins 7 loses and was 13/18 for TD's and INT's not good. Kordell had a poor QB rating for 4 playoff games... 45.6 (this is very low), His completion rate was 48.6%. with 2 TD's ad 8 INT's this is bad, especially in a playoff. My point is Kordell seems rather inconsistant...lots of INT's Really only 2 good years out of 9. Pittsburgh is not noted for being racist... It seems Kordell wants to blame others rather than his inconsistancy and poor QB rating.. If you are below 80, that is not real good. Kordell had one season at 81.7. otherwise he is way below. Ptiisburgh finally moved on and dumped him. Also, if you throw out the two good years, the other 5 years his team was below .500 (24/26) Was Kordell a winner?? anyway...details.
People have been brutal to Tebow because they don't have to watch what they say with him, they don't have to be politically correct when criticizing him. Low IQ, Horrible Mechanics, can't throw, embarassment, etc, etc. The things said about Tebow and the abuse have crossed the line in many instances because the experts and analysts have a free pass to say what they've really always been thinking.
Kordell was a mediocre QB... go look at the stats... poor QB rating. 70.7, and TD/INT was 77/84. He really only had one good year. 2001. and that was not real good. QB rating was just 81.7. but Pitt had a great team.13/3. :-)
