Steel: hard metal. Panther: one of the most ferocious animals. Put them together, and you have perhaps the greatest band of the 21st century. And, hot off the release of their latest, most ass-kicking album ever, Steel Panther is re-invading America. While in Nashville, before they played a blistering set for a packed crowd at Marathon Music Works, Panther’s lead guitarist Satchel invited PG’s John Bohlinger to soundcheck to show off his mighty rig.

@premierguitar can you please please please do a rig rundown with AIRBOURNE
Please suggest to Mr. Satchel that he do a set at KT or The Secret Show (Austin TX).
Bro would KArush that crowd. And get laid a bunch. But those are both normal.
This request was on behalf of the fans not Mr. Satchel. Obviously.
I can get that finish on my guitar using hydrographic dipping film.
Satchel is hilarious. Respect to Premier Guitar for giving us a full uncensored interview. Not many people would be brave enough to post this these days.
Or tasteless enough
If he couldn’t play he couldn’t get away this stuff.
Some folks really need to chalk up saying “offensive” things to “bravery” nowadays
Nice wig also

You must be one boring dude
I knew exactly what I was getting into watching a Satchel rig rundown and still came out pleasantly surprised. What an entertainer.
I love when Satchel breaks character and actually gets going when he’s excited to talk about a piece of gear.
If everyone had the same sense of humor as Satchel, the world would be a much better place
American humour!! Christ comedy would die instantly.
And guitar skills!
YES
@@fearnpol4938 do you actually believe that only Americans possess a similar sense of humor? You should travel outside your rural state sometime bud!
It would be chaos lol
Gotta love John for keeping it together at the amp session.
Probably the most entertaining Rig Rundown I've seen, Satchel is hilarious. Steel Panther rocks.
Hialrious? Really?
@@matthewmp111 ?
Nah check the ones the sweet lady did on previous years those were Hilarious 😂
@@matthewmp111 another cristal boy generation?
@@montauta uhhhhh no
Probably the most enthusiastic interview with premier ever. Satchel just answered all his own questions.
The dude is a monster player, and John did a great job holding it together.
I have never been so entertained by a premier guitar interview , thanks Satchel
thank you!!
Saw these guys do an hour and a half show in Las Vegas. They only played 6 songs and the rest was banter. Most hilarious show I've seen.
That fret board with the strippers is amazing.
A modern day Spinal Tap. Absolutely hilarious! If you take this to serious you might end up thinking it's nonsense, but if you see Satchel as character of the 80s metal industry it's fantastic in every way.
And big credits to John for keeping a straight face. 😅
body control in its purest form 😂
I'd have been doubled over laughing... true story
Well, its Spinal Tap, but with ginormous guitar-sklills
Don’t know what PG is paying John Bolinger…but it ain’t enough!! He’s priceless!
John is an absolute god at rolling with the weird punches that get thrown at him in these kinds of rundowns. Incredibly entertaining to watch!
I cannot believe you let Satchel run his mouth for 30 minutes straight. Thanks guys
This made my day. Don’t know how John kept it together. Satchel is amazing. 😂
Whether he's cracking jokes or shredding licks, Satchel is a very well spoken guy who's unique voice always shines through
this is so awesome. He goes off the rails.Good for premier guitar, not censored
I've never listened to Steel Panther, but I'll always watch these videos cause Satchel is hilarious.
This guy is just GOOD. He knows his thing and can really do it. Most comedians don't come close. And then he plays great too.
Why do I have feeling that he is actually quite smart
Definitely. Self-awareness and smart parody.
Oh my goodness. Who doesn’t love Steel Panther? Satchel simply refuses to take himself too seriously even though he is a talent in his own right. What fun!
Niiice! Steel Panther is great! Satchel is awesome, seems such a nice guy and an incredible guitarist! His tone is amazing!
I laughed from start to finish! John Bohlinger deserves some kind of award for playing straight-man to Satchel in what certainly is the funniest rig rundown in history.
Bravo to both for stellar performances.
Thank you for interviewing Satchel. He is an amazing guitarist and deserves more noteriety.
As much as I despise glam, Satchel's bit, the way he stays in character and the subtle jabs at guitar culture are insanely entertaining.
This was so good. 30 mins of watching Johns face was worth it alone 😀 But wow...that's some sweet tone there.
I love how Satchel concluded the interview with "Don't stop pickin'." That's a Warmoth guitars reference, who is the modern day equivalent of Boogie Bodies; the company EVH used back in the day.
Satchel is one of my favorite guitar players I’ve been waiting for an updated rig rundown great video!!
I watch these Rig Rundowns pretty regularly for years now and this one is immediately one of my all-time favorites. Good job, Satchel and John.
Just watched it here in Israel. Thanks for the laughs. we need more guitarists like you .
I love Satch! He teaches with so much humor. It keeps you entranced! 😊❤❤❤
Satchel hamming it up for PG. Awesome guitarist.
Don’t worry Satchel. I paid for the new album because you guys deserved every penny for the joy you bring me
This was hilarious 😂 satchel is making jokes left and right and John remains so professional and just his regular self makes this so funny 😆
Satchel and the boys were great at the Chicago House of Blues March 25. What a show!
This sounds like a radiostation in GTA5 😂
... "There's a copy of all of us running around somewhere... You know how they do it? MEMORY FOAM!"
OMG, this guy is hysterical. Tongue in cheek and he can barely keep from cracking himself up in the process. Plus he can shred...
John is the 🐐 for keeping it together 😂
I could not hold it together for a 30 min interview with this guy, he's too damn funny
Satchel gives the best advice.100% .
Satchel is such a great guitarist he deserves more
Love. I know we have Hendrix, Eddie Van Halen and others but Satchel is awesome
1987 was a helluva year. The year I started my guitar journey. man, I miss those days!
I loved the eighties.....ah, I think. It's kind of hazy.
This is gems! Satchel is as good a guitar player as he is a stand up comedian! Amazing!
Kudos to John for keeping straight face 😂
Satchel is an amazing musician. Not only is he talented but he’s also funny as hell. I love him lol
Great video, and thank god they did not censor anything. Thanks Premier Guitar
It's always fun to watch Satchel. Thank you for this episode!!
I met this dude MANY years ago when he was playing in FIGHT wit the God that is Rob Halford. Was and still is a great dude.
I like my Premier Giitar when it's raw and unfiltered. Thank you John
Love Satchel ... I wish I could find players with his sense of humor. He will love long. 🤘
Man, I loved this interview so much! Satchel is AMAZING and Steel Panther is simply the best live show out there. They were AWESOME when they came through Houston recently!
The most talented guitarist. I like his sense of humour too😅❤🙂🎵🎶🎵👌🏻👍🏻
Knowing steel panther, this was even beyond what I was expecting, bravo 👏
"It's a good analogy." Damn near spit my coffee out!
Dude is a living legend....monster guitar player
He use to play with Rob Halford in a band called FIGHT. Great stuff.
John’s reactions are priceless.
Best interview of all time on whatever topic. I do not know how the interviewer kept from cracking up the entire time. That was stellar. I love that guy and this channel, and Sachel too. He was the most hilarious guy ever.
Best rig rundown episode! Satchel is really standing on the ground about gear, I like him approach.
Satchel and his first interview with Premier Guitar (and Rebecca Dirks) was priceless. John does an absolutely great job though with all his interviews.
I miss Rebecca! Her Steve Vai interview is really entertaining and informative.
LMAO. John Bollinger's reactions are priceless.
I was watching old videos about Satchel rig in the last couple weeks, what a surprise searching for more material and discover this new one. Satchel tone is just pretty amazing
That White Falcon - dayum!
I have last year purple satchel Charvel....model... killer guitar.
This rundown is bonkers because of satchel... John has patience you can tell.... great video
Russ is not only a killer player but one hell of an entertainer with an amazingly quick wit
The most entertaining gear rundown ever lol
Lol John the contestant professional and Satchel the contestant Rock Star! Love it
Awesome, I had no idea Satchel was on the Atomic Amplifire. I use mine for everything and nobody online seems to mention it these days
The pole dancing inlays are superb
I love this guy, he plays amazing and has a awesome personality
Greatest rig rundown EVER!
The guys laughing in the back really make this so much better.
It’s about time somebody is helping the Zebras. Too many are taken out in the dark. Thanks Satchel.
Man...i will never forget the Rig Rundown he did with Rebecca Dirks. Can't believe it has been 10 years since then. What happened to time?
Classic!
I needed a good laugh 😂 and I sure did enjoy this! Incredible comedian. Very cool guitars! Thanks
Met him and the band in March. Satchel was the nicest dude. We chatted for probably half an hour before he got on the bus. Outfit and wig off and stage persona gone, and it was really cool to just chat with him. They were all like that. None of them seemed pressed to hurry the conversation and they all seemed genuinely interested to chat.
Eddie started using a Floyd in 79 on the second tour on the bee. It was one of a few prototypes.
The dripping tone comes from those fine tunas fellas.
I seriously would’ve never thought his signal chain would’ve been so simple, I guess he’s so good at portraying the character I assumed he’d have a huge board midi changing W/D/W rigg nope a amp sim and a couple regular pedals most guitarists probably already have.
God I love these guys. National treasures in my book. 🤘🏼
20:46 - That Eric Johnson comment was priceless!
In the mid 90's, I built PWM DC pedal pwr supply w/trimmer allowing you to brown down the voltage
Came for a Rig Rundown and got a stand up show also. Amazing
Ever notice that every interview with Satchel is like that little wind-up toy mouse with the wheels that you put on the floor for your pet cat? It just keeps aimlessly going around in circles in a haphazard manner and banging into a wall. 😂
Amazing interview, Satchel is absolutely hilarious and a great player
Living in Nashville I often feel sad when i see these videos and realize all the shows I've missed. Love the tease of "Flight of the Wounded Bumblebee" at 15:40 !! Satchel is an absolute monster player and I love that this is the second rundown I've seen this week with a Conspiracy Theory on the pedal board.
Seriously
I’ve always skipped out on steel panther shows for stupid ass reasons
Next time I’ll definitely go
The world needs this. - Thanks a lot.
the best rig rundown with Satchel... like always!
The BEST looking Guitar Player over 1987!!!🤘
Always good times with Satchel! Thanks John and Premier Guitar for the most entertaining, informative and groundbreaking guitar news content bar none! \m/
Schecter had stripper inlays in mid 2000s. I have one and its my favorite guitar
Lol you're right! The Schecter C1XXX. To be fair they're not using the frets as stripper poles, but on the plus side they're correctly spaced out on the fretboard lol.
I have one lol a diamond series I got it at a pawn shop for 100$ has emg’s and Grover tuners
Best. Rundown. Ever!! 😂😂😂
"...twice as much trash."
That's gold, Satchel- *gold!*
Tremendous. Just tremendous. Rock on Satchel. 🤘🏻🇺🇸🎸
The "secret company" that makes the 1987 pedal is AllPedal out of Paducah, KY
So great. I really need to see these guys
That is a signature guitar worth getting.
Props for having Satchel be Satchel. Totally makes the video work.
One of my favorite rig rundowns!
I've never seen a bad Satchel Interview. Nice one John. I love that Satchel doesn't know what brand strings he plays
I love Satchel! HE is so funny!
