Just an excellent instructional video! Really GOOD! Thank you for helping so many DIY'ers, like myself learn how to diagnose our A/C systems, and hopefully save a few bucks!
Excellent job sir! I found your video explaining how to diagnose the A/C system to be very detailed and informative. Thank you for taking the time to make this a quality educational troubleshooting guide.
A year ago my a/c quit working. I checked the power going to the compressor and found out it did not have any so I tied into the fan relay and it worked un till about a month ago the compressor went out. I installed a new compressor today and saw your video on a loose a/c relay. I took mine out and put it back in now it works. Thanks
I enjoy your videos. Your very thorough. I have one criticism...you should have used your test light at the fuse boxes for the A/C instead of piercing the line breaking the integrity of the wire. Your test light would have given you the same result if you would have probed the A/C Relay at the fuse boxes. Otherwise, great video ok.
After looking thru AC videos for my 2011 Honda odyssey I believe yours is the best and most thorough one. I’m gonna go thru these steps even tho I’m almost positive it’s my compressor(growling for a while then stopped engaging) I believe I overcharged and destroyed it low pressure was 325psi and high side was 50psi. Shouldn’t have used those cans at auto part store. Anyways thank you so much for this video!

Absolutely awesome video! Got me to LOOK in the right direction! Well what happened to me was I had power in the wire you tested(same spot) to my BRAND NEW COMPRESSOR well it ended up being the plug was NOT pushed totally together (probably my big hands in a small area) Thank god because I thought I just wasted $220! The reason I changed the compressor was I had great super cold air then I smelled a burning plastic smell and shortly there after no cold air!!! This all After I just changed a leaking hose and condenser since the bolts broke off in it since I had to change the hose! Well $400! In parts later hope I have no more issues!
My problem was also the relay (diagnosed after a parts guy said I needed a new compressor after checking nothing). However, about 9 mths later, it went from working great one day to back to blowing hot air. I tried replacing the relay again. Nothing. Swapped with the fan relay, and still nothing. The clutch is not engaging. Being a female, I know a mechanic will rip me off so before heading down that road, is there anything else I might be able to self-diagnose? This video was awesome. Perhaps another video of what to do next if the clutch still does not engage. Also is there any way to check a relay on a machine or something to see if it is good? Thank you again! 😊
Rena Scott I'm glad to hear that the video was helpful... since you already swapped the compressor relay with a good one. the next thing to check should be refrigerant in the system. you can take it to your local parts store and have they check it to see if there is refrigerant in the system, if there is! the following thing to check would be power and ground at the ac compressor, I checked it in the video, you can get a test light and follow the steps in the video... Good Luck!

Hustle_Or_Scam it sounds like your compressor is going bad! You should take it to a shop and have them charge the correct amount of refrigerant in it then if it continues to act up! I would recommend looking into replacing the compressor and the drier!
