wait what? you would not expect megalith and metalfoes to have a good grind game? the entire reason why they are the best decks of the format by far is because they have amazing grind game.
This event was fun.... for like a day. Then I realized every deck was pretty much the same, almost like everyone youtube searched the best N/R decks and copy pasted them. I saw gadgets, heavymetal foes, megaliths, and yosenju at least 10 times each, it was exhausting after a while. The thing that kept me going was the occassional different decks people came up with.... and the gems obviously.
I immediately grinded to 10k points day 1, only got away with meeting 1 meta deck, draglubion turbo I tried going in again after the mission addition and I met 2-3 draglubion turbo out of 5 duels (iirc) and nope, I don't want to touch the format again as is
It's really funny that the first reaction that I and a few other people had to phul hit a few days before the event was "That's pretty harsh". One week later and Megalith still runs circles around most decks.
I hope this format sees continued support in Master Duel. New commons (maybe the entirety of Suship coming on the 4th?) Will definitely shake things up, but I hope we can see revisions to the banlist as well. Megalith and Metalfoes aren't SO overtuned that they need to be banned out, but I think hitting their grind game would give other decks a much better gameplan against them. Imo limiting ParaMetalfoes fusion is an easy hit. Megalith is a little harder to make a meaningful hit without killing the strategy. Maybe ban the field spell and limit unformed?
Ban bethor. The deck can still do plays that are powerful for the N/R format but you now have to use generic ritual monsters as disruption. Consistency hits are awful and only serve to kill potentially cool decks. Without bethor they can even have 3 phuul back.
Megalith just too powerful for this. If your hand is not completely empty the recovery is just insane for the N/R tournament. 10:09 I remember when I was first learning the deck (some year ago). I came to the conclusion that it could with some reliability, summon bethor thrice during my opps turn. I was like( bruh insane, I can pop like 5, 3 times in a turn, thas crazy) And then I read bethor kek
They could have made a hit on Impcantations, Manju/Senju and above anything else, Megalith Phul, even at one this card basicaly caried the deck alone. Also Bethor to 1 would be reasonable.
The F.A. variant of the metalfoes actually hard counter megalith. It is just so happened that sometimes the megalith player opened kaiju for the F.A., otherwise it would be gg
I've been using a dragonmaid mill deck to mill arkbrave and divine felgrand, plus leyvaten to bring the arkbrave back from the grave every turn. Honestly this event is just leagues more fun than normal competitive mode, not having to worry about handtraps is a godsend
I played „Earth Machine“ during the event and only lost (twice) to Inferno Tempest xD I love those events, it allows so much creative Deckbuilding with Nice and generous rewards
I haven't seen the entire video yet, but I expect megaliths to be the best deck. Although I think Triamids are extremely underrated in this format and can also outgrind most decks
I only ran into one Triamid player in the N/R event and it was one of the most boring games I've ever played. Never seen the archetype before that. I couldn't be bothered to read his cards, but it sure seemed good at grinding. I just scooped and went on to play 3 other duels in the time it would have taken to finish that snoozefest
@@Purin1023 all the lvl4 or lower have the quick effect of swapping the field spell straight from the deck during opponent turn, and all the fields have effects when send to the graveyard, so you have to remove their fields asap or they will outgrind you however you need to be careful because they can dodge destruction by chaining monsters effect to swap, and that's basically it
metalfoes and megalith are definitly the 2 best decks in the format but a lot of people are exaggerating how strong they are. either that, or the deck i was playing (dinomist) is the most underrated deck in the format and is as strong as the top meta threats with practically no players.
Favorite Hero is kind of busted in this format, I was using it to also search Extra Net to get a pseudo-Maxx "C" effect. It wasn't anything more than annoying, but it was funny watching some decks try to play around it.
If your struggling to fight against megalith I recommend finding ways to disrupt their grave yard or banish their cards so they can't get off any plays effectively with the recovery effects. The deck might recover quite well but disruption can definitely shoot it in the leg if you hit a key card. Banishing a single phul can always change the state of the game instantly since it's only at 1 in this format
Marshmallon and marshmacron stall plus checksum dragon and battlefader and other battle handtraps until I draw a chaos card while stalling for 20 turns has been my favorite jank strategy

The heart earth is reasonably easy to out. Megalith absolutely need to be hit way too powerful for this format. Not played against enough metalfoes but could probably do with a couple hits to nerf it enough
@@rathalos28able Literally the rest of the format is even in powerlevel. Megalith having access to a pop 4 into OTK in a format where every other deck tries to set up a grind gameplan is way too strong. Draglubion being untargetable is a huge issue when he dodges a ton of commonly played removal, its not as bad if he also didnt bring along heart earth who needs to be outted or you just lose. As it stands if you aren't running megalith you are coping hard this format and therefor that deck needs to lose one of its strong points. Taking away bethor and giving them maybe 3 phuuls(doesnt really matter) lets them keep powerful grind set ups and OTKs but prevents them from making a lot of decks unplayable.
