Looked high and low for a foot locker style trunk to store my daughter's dress up clothes. ruclips.net/user/postUgkxRkkpE1_3gMEZ2mPhAt6b2moNCUXyH8tG I had one growing up that I stored my Barbies in and wanted something sturdy like that for her costumes. This arrived really, really quickly and is exactly what I've been looking for. Perfect size, color (pink) and has stood up for nearly a year so far against my kids using it as a chair, stage, and barricade (😬) to keep each other out of their rooms. I'm probably going to order another one for my daughter's Barbies.
I really appreciate the information regarding the nails/tacks. I'm doing a light restoration on a Drucker trunk for a bar project and I want to replace the leather straps, but I've been hesitant to remove the tacks.
not only does the bone Antler get into the corners to help crease the leathers and other materials used it also doesn't mark them while working them ;-)
I actually liked all the character of the wood and feel that would have looked fabulous with a light stain to seal it and left as is. The ew canvas is great of course but it covers up the vintage of the piece and those visually appealing wooden elements to the point where it could almost be a replica and not an original. Just My opinion. I guess it depends on what the client wants. Cheers.
I have 6 trunks which belonged to my Grandmama. I use two in my dressing room, two in our informal sitting room and one in my study and one in my husbands study. Our trunks were never used other than to store precious photographs and letters.
Im from India and possess one of these trunks from my granddad in India. Can i get the details of Mr. Martin here. I would love to ship my LV trunk for restoration.
As an antique dealer, it seems par for the course, that you would keep that trunk for yourself. Dealers should have for themselves that trunk in there showroom, or home. The rarest of things should be kept for oneself. Obviously they don’t come around every day, so treat yourself once in a while 👍🙂It’s one the benefits of investing your life into a trade or business. It’s your right and privilege to own the best of things…..just an opinion 😊
Why let it continue to rot, etc? Yes, it held up, but that's the point of restoration-help something to keep on lasting. Do you feel the same way about art restoration?
Yes when it belongs to you thats your choice to do. I can't stand things that are tattered, discolored, mildewy, etc. It looks neat and still retains some of the old charm.
I disagree, well I agree LV would restore it, but LV would restore it much as Rolex restores an old, worn yet very valuable watch. Rolex typically will strip out dials, hands even the bracelet for brand new often changing a watches' value from half to as much as a tenth of the unrestored value.
@@samadrid6321 i need to get a new glass for a women's gold watch that goes on a chain (like a pendant) Probably i'll have to send it to Canada or the UK
@@hektik8007 Ide assume because there are very few of them left in the world and it is such a big name and an early piece that it can command a high price for collections. But again it's only worth what someone is willing to pay for it haha.
I sincerely hope that Martin is teaching someone his craft. Beautifully done.
And that someone wants to learn it!
The thing that makes you a very lucky man is knowing craftsmen like that chap, that was 5 star work
Without his team of top restorers , Drew wouldn't be half as successful

Superb video as skilled craftsmen with lots of patience are hard to find these days !

This man blows my mind!, he is so gifted
Meraviglioso....Drew ti seguo sempre..siete fantastici...quante cose ho imparato...grazie...
The labels made it look cheap and overdone. Drew is just being kind for the camera, in his heart he knows that trashed it.
When object can decay but intellegence never forgotten
Wonderful craftsmanship.
Wow!! This one kicks my nice brand new suitcase out the water!!! I L❤VE IT!!
💖🌻 for the great work!
Great job will be back on tv in another 100 years so hope he left his markings on it or a note ,,

I'm amazed and I love it!
Lovely restoration
Absolutely amazing carefully done work. Splendid to watch a master at work!
Fascinating.
Omggosh, I'd give my right Arm for that Gorgeous trunk !! It's beautiful!
And here I was thinking who in the world would use a trunk like that in public
Loving it!!
master piece for sure
That narrator is Chris Finch from the Office!
WOW.. VERY NICE WORK 😃
someone is a cutie
What a craftsman wow
Good effort Sir
Damn that's stunning 😍 it's so beautiful i love ittt
He's great at his job or profession of restoration, one of many few left!

Really just £3,000 with all the labour??
Very nice whoever gets it Enjoy

The labels just took it back to shit creek . but bloody good refurbish ole codger
@Almighty God George Soros #420 #GetRekd Restore Good, Stickers bad... simple enough for ya?
Yeah. The labels.... Bad move.
Both very beautiful before and after
pause 6:39 the white liner inside the lid is kinda wavy, I wish old man would've made it straight
I feel like if the luggage labels were not there before, they should not have been added.
Amazing job but I don’t understand the stickers.
From the 1900s! When dinosaurs walked the earth!

Why why why ..you are not going to travel with the trunk just keep it like it was... & have it as a showpiece
Why let it continue to rot, etc? Yes, it held up, but that's the point of restoration-help something to keep on lasting. Do you feel the same way about art restoration?
@@thistlegal2154 agree 100% its more beautiful with restoration. Who wants something that just looks old basically?
I just got a new Louis Vuitton purse. This will be my 2nd one I have ever had. I wish I could got the wallet. But this tunk is beauitful
*Chest block in minecraft*
Does that "signature" not just say "N 6", as in "number 6" referring to the model/colour?
Brilliant and interesting restoration video. Except for drew prickard!
We find great pieces then hard part with them .
What martin last name
Has it been sold?
I suspect it was already sold when it was restored!
Why on earth did he add those stickers
He was going for the Art Deco look.
Why would you not take it directly to Louis Vuitton for historical reference ? Im sure they would have assisted in its refurb.
Sometimes it’s okay to leave things as they are
Sometimes it's ok to let other people enjoy their projects
Yes when it belongs to you thats your choice to do. I can't stand things that are tattered, discolored, mildewy, etc. It looks neat and still retains some of the old charm.
He can carry his ego around in it.
you can send it to Louis Vuitton to restore it
I doubt that it would look as good. Martin has done a fantastic job. That's real craftsmanship.

They should have sold it for $23,000
Why that much

They could have just taken it to Louis Vuitton and got it restored😅. How do I know? Well I took one myself and got it restored by them😊
Breaking news. Antique dealer found in trunk
Hat trunk
Easier than restoring Louis C.K.'s career...
wow he completely ruined a rare trunk turned a £5,000 trunk into a frankenstein bit rubbish very sad. watching this abortion really hurt
I don’t think the labels should have been added. It turns it into a cosplay item and makes it contrived. In my opinion.
Tin man where are you? No Responce!
He got wood stain over all of the canvas... Cool video though
Only 25 comments lol
I wish they showed more the trunk and less the people!
VERY bad :o Crazy !!!!
Admire the craftsman...but now it’s a too fake to be desirable just doesn’t look right..
I don't agree, yes it looks different but at least it's clean and presentable.
Jane Dughatir wow that’s really interesting to know. Thanks.
Butchered!
what are you talking about
If you were an old trunk you'd want to be refurbished too 😜
should keep it original, not fuck around with the past
Botched job in my opinion.
But it's not original. Just went down in value
the labels r stupid
This is just a remake of American shows can't TV channels make new programs anymore
But the American shows don't have Martin.
Pastor Flaps 90% of shows are made in Britain first then copied in the us
Maybe you should shoot some ideas across the table... I'm sure you are just what these tv production companies are looking for. Prick!
Other way round mate. This program has been on for years.
Pastor Flaps. Piss???
