If I knew where this machine existed in my city, I wouldn't hesitate to visit once a day. (I live about 100 miles South of Indianapolis (hint, hint, nudge, nudge).
This machine probably causes an ice-crystal reaction with micro-movement or something of that kind. This has been done many years before as a bar trick where a cold bottle of beer that's been chilled to the freezing point, gets knocked against a table for example ,to let it freeze.
This is just super cooling. The only thing that device does is use something to cause a nucleus point in the below 0° liquid. It's pretty neat to try at home. But not really a selling point if they're going for that. Great for getting perfect slushie sodas in geneal stores, so there's that benefit.
I know I shouldn't be saying this on a CC site.. but (back in the 90's) I would buy my Pepsi 2l and put it in the freezer as soon as I got home and then 20 minutes later pour out delicious Pepsi slush.. I was hooked..!
Also, there are videos online all over the place that show how to do this on your own. Technically you only need a little tap on the bottle to activate the tipping point into slush tho.
Put your coke in the freezer for about 15-30 minutes depending on temp. Take out then tap the bottom on a table or counter and rotate the bottle a few times gently. Don’t shake. Ice coke, etc…
Wow, its so sad that this has not taken off, I think covid might have had a hand in its slow adaption. Aparently in 2020 they put 800 in across the US the in C stores, whatever that is lol. Id love to try this! Coke please put up a shop at local distributors with one of these in it so people can at least drive a little ways to get one haha. Also it would be nice to have a actual coke store to buy from because its so hard to find certain beverages stocked sometimes and i bet we could get a great price buying direct
kronos hey! The juicero(tm) was a fine invention for people who want a glorified crusher that only works on licensed packs and won't crush packs that are out of date and for people who don't know that you can just buy mixed fruit drinks at stores like naked juice drinks for much cheaper than even just the packs!
We used to throw a Stoney Tangawizi or Pineapple Fanta (I don't think they were marked nanasi or piña, but pina or nasi?) in the freezer and tap the glass bottle gently on a hard surface from time to time until they turned to slush. Only once did we forget one in the freezer too long and found a burst bottle. That being said, they had the reusable (read sturdier) bottles in Tanzania. It's strange how far reaching Coca Cola is.
I have looked at this machine and tried to figure it out a couple times. Never worked. Realized, every beverage on the cooler is already frozen and the plate you set it on doesn't work at all. Doesn't even get cold. I was super bummed so I just did the home freezer trick👍
You can also do this at home, when a drink is brought to below freezing temperatures it doesn't freeze immediately, because ice crystals need something as a base to form on, and the plastic walls just don't work for some reason, but when the bottle is being shaken it allows the co2 bubbles to form or introduces air into the liquid which gives the ice crystals something to grab ahold of and begin freezing the entire bottle, if you're gonna try this at home i recommend purified water, it takes longer to freeze over and gives you a nice window to do this, just make sure there are no air bubbles on the side of the bottle
Sure, bur most freezers are to cold. The trick here is a dedicated cooler set to the right temp for it to work evey time. Back when I was a kid there was a vending machine at the barber shop that was set that' cold (glass bottles). Then open the bottle ensuing aL

@@shirleymccool4177 between park plaza mall and target..right passed chick fil a the little gas station there on the corner (the only way you could get to target when they first opened before university had an entrance)
I have done this with drinks in my freezer... even cooler when you open the bottle before it freezes like that and pour it out on an ice cube. It will instantly freeze as you pour it creating a frozen stalagmite :)
All that development money to do something a simple tap on the edge of the counter will do. The cooler next to the machine hyper cools the beverage, specifically redesigned bottles prevent crystal Catalyzation while stored in the cooler and the cylindrical machine off to the side just sends a sonic pulse through the beverage to catalyze the formation of the ice crystals. Unfortunately Coca-Cola has not actually found a way to hyper cool beverages instantly like a reverse microwave which would have been revolutionary. This is just a brilliant marketing ploy using a very popular science experiment.
superchilled coke. Nice. The same happens if you leave a beverage in the freezer too long and it doesn't appear frozen, but as soon is it gets agitated...BOOM. Microwaved water can do the reverse under the right conditions. Glad they are trying to make a controlled environment for this treat.
It's been 5 years and no real deployment of this machine. It's unfortunate because i would like it too. For all the old school people who say you can do this in a freezer, yes but it isn't as fast and you can only enjoy it like that at home.
Man... I thought this machine was genius.. I was literally thinking of buying one.. I've done this before at my house. You set you fridge to cool drinks just before freezing point.. Then you smack the bottom of the bottle, it excites the molecules (Neucleation) causing your drink to turn to to Slush, all the machine does is vibrate causing the same effect as smacking the bottom of your bottle... What a let down.. I thought this was cutting edge breaking technology, feezing my warm beer to a nice cold chill.
I can't seem to get ours to work. The staff is no help because they aren't familiar with it. I love my ice cokes. I put them in the freezer for just the right amount of time. Ours is on highway 90 in Long Beach, MS. It's a Circle K store near Jeff Davis Ave.
No you don't. As long as the soda or water is just below freezing, you can flick it or (i think) break the seal on the bottle to agitate enough to start the process.
So it's just a freezer that super chills the liquid, like a water bottle in your freezer and when I assume the platform vibrates it freezes. Seems like you could have spent your 20 years being less white coke
Awesome bring them to Maryland’s eastern shore please !!!!! I get tired of putting my coke in the freezer and then forgetting about it uggg. Then it’s too frozen This is perfect love to have one of my own.
Ohhhhh, it only works on the drinks from on the coolers due to the "just below freezing" so as to make the solidity of the water balanced on an unstable point between ice and water. Pretty old trick there but useful nevertheless.
I've tried this several times with the one we have at my local Speedway, but can't seem to make it actually freeze. Very disappointing, guys. I love Coca-Cola (Coke Zero is life) and having a way to superchill it on the go would be great, but not if it doesn't work... I've heard sometimes that if you superchill, shake, and open it, the coke will freeze instantly, and you'll be able to sip it as it chills. Must try this with more shaking, maybe that will work?
it works the same way it would in your freezer with a beverage that is slightly more resistant to freezing than water is. That is, its easier with those, such as the schmirnoff ice etc - they have some alcohol in them - and freeze at a lower temp - so if you leave them in the freezer over night - and your freezer is set to a reasonable setting - when you open them they will freeze. It is called, ice nucleation I think. has to do with there being too few impurities in the fluid for it to have a place to start crystallizing at, but when you jostle it - you give it something it needs to start the process.
readyrepairs it works well for carbonated drinks, vibrations will cause the carbon to escape the system thus leaving only water and other ingredients for flavor. carbon atoms are responsible for the gaps so that it wont freeze at certain temp. too low and it will burst too high and it wont freeze. the trick is at the freezer it stays at a very specific temperature for maximum effects. the lights are just for flashy design.
“A lot of tinkering and fine tuning...” dude... it’s a supercooled fluid.... freeze any drink under pressure and shake it a bit and bam. Not saying I don’t like it, just saying it’s not a new idea.
