      No one knows how Shaka Zulu look like due to the lack of any clear portrait or engraving of him. There is an European artist impression of a Zulu warrior said to be Shaka Zulu carrying the traditional long assegai spear and a heavy shield. Due to popularity of the miniseries Shaka Zulu, Henry Cele's face had become the face of the great Shaka Zulu.

    Also, Shaka's war dance when he first gets the prototype Iklwa Spear is one of my favorite scenes in this entire miniseries.

    • @indrajeet
      @indrajeet 3 года назад +4

      I don't think it's a war dance, he's training with the prototype Iklwa spear, perfecting the close combat technique he will teach others.
      It's a very spiritual scene. Shaka is training in the mountains and forests, one with nature, one with the blade, he is in a state of absolute intensity.

      The Iklwa was to the Zulu what the Gladius was to the Romans. Shaka reformed his fighting forces away from the more traditional open skirmishing style that was typical of neigbouring African warfare to focus on close combat tactics and manoeuvre. The Assegai long spear typically used as a main weapon among most warriors at the time was made secondary and complimented by the shorter stabbing Iklwa. The Assegai would be utilised near exclusively as a throwing weapon with each soldier carrying several and were usually discharged before engaging the enemy close in with the Iklwa. Similar in nature to how Ancient Roman Cohorts would dispense pillum javelins before entering or recieving a charge disrupting the opposing troops formation. Clever stuff, Shaka and later Zulu chiefs and strategists implementation and use of tactical drill and maneuvre coupled with combat reform revolutionised warfare in their area.

    So I'm guessing only certain groups of Africans in the Zulu area were good at metal working, and they were the ones the other tribes depended on for the creation of their weapons? That's what I'm getting from the start of this scene where Shaka is describing what will become the Iklwa Spear to the blacksmiths.

      @kevinnorwood It kinda depended on the region. The skills of blacksmithing were often kept within certain tribes,groups/castes,families,etc. These skills were zealously guarded and never shared with those outside the community for one reason or another. However with the influx of western tools in the present day. The old blacksmithing techniques are no longer in demand as they used to be in ancient times. Sadly it is slowly dying out in Afrika and may soon be gone forever.

      The reason Shaka adapted the short stabbing spear, is because the way Southern African warfare was fought at the time was more of a ceremony than actual warfare, and it was because of this Shaka's Armies were able to easily defeat their enemies, range means a lot but was pointless in close combat, that is why the Zulu's entire combat was to defend against long range and throwing spears.

      Depends on where and during which period in European history you are speaking of.
      Not all societies on earth enter the exact same stage of material development at exactly the same time.
      What you see here is probably similar in characteristics to Northern European tribal groups around the 3rd century b.c..
      Now, their descendants are walking on the moon and making long range atomic spears.

    6 A child of God cannot go against what God has established; even without the Holy Spirit, he will be disturbed. The Bible cannot contradict itself. If Jesus had established a woman apostle or disciple, then he would have not been the Messiah. If Paul allowed woman to preach then Paul would be false. No matter his miracles, they would be miracles of seduction. [Ed: The congregation says: “Amen!”].
    7 Woman’s ministry and the marriage of homosexuals are the two biggest abominations of the end of times. And a person who enters into a church where women preach, it is like a person who takes part in a parade of homosexuals. 2000 years ago, mankind did not know that one day, homosexuals were going to parade in Jerusalem. 2000 years ago, mankind did not know that one day a woman, despite her menses, was going to preach before people in some churches. [Ed: The congregation says: “Amen!”].
    8 In the entire Old Testament, there was no woman priest. Even in the world, there was no woman minister. It is emancipation that has placed woman there! The feminine for "minister" did not exist. And we know that women came on the scene of the nations through emancipation. The first emancipated woman of the earth was Naamah, a daughter of Cain. And the first emancipated woman in Israel was Jezebel, a foreigner. But in the beginning, it was not so. And we have seen some women fighting for the right to vote in Europe and America but at the beginning in the Old Testament, in Israel for example, women were not counted. And in Africa, a woman cannot be a village chief. Even, in the villages, when men gather, women do not have the right to speak. [Kc.10v58] [Kc.22v24]
    9 What God gave to the Jews in writing, He also gave it to the pagans in their heart! Is it you who taught the nations the dowry in the marriage, the first-fruits or to give the name of the father to the first son? And in case of serious sins or of alliances, to make blood sacrifices? It is God who did that! And that is how God also revealed the position of woman to them. Even with no teaching, they know for example that the original sin is a sexual act. With no teaching, a true son of God knows in his heart that sexual act is the sin that Adam and Eve had committed. But when they go to the churches, the devil takes that from them. And it is the same devil that places woman in the pulpit. A church is supposed to be the bride of Christ. And a church which accepts a woman in the pulpit is a lesbian church. And all the women who go in the pulpit have male genitals in their dreams and many confessed that to me.
