- We tested two microblading eyebrow pens at different price points that claim to make your natural eyebrows look like microbladed eyebrows.
The first pen, the Maybelline Tattoo Studio Brow Tint Pen in Medium Brown, retails for $9, and the second, the TatBrow Microblade Pen in Dark Brown, retails for $40. Each pen has four small points at the tip that are meant to distribute product in natural, hair-like strokes.
Producer Kyle Kerchaert evaluates each product on the color, application, and longevity and at the end declares which pen is worth your money.

Its really pissing me off that Maybelline don't do a black pen. Not everyone has light skin and brown hair you know.

Tracie Alexis Bless her, I feel her struggle. Idk if u guys are in the UK but the "Collection" eyebrow kit is what I use and its pretty inexpensive in Superdrug. These make up brands really need to step up their game because this is ridiculous.

Thank you! I’ve had 35 years of perfect brows I never had to do a thing to. Now I have suddenly developed bald spots and I want to fill them in. If I had been doing it for years, then yeah I’d be good at it by now. I don’t look like someone who would be just learning now, but I am!
If you’re going to be an online reviewer you should be good at it or don’t do it
@@vanessafarias3244 yes and no. If you're looking for an expert review, then yes you really need to know your stuff. But if you're posing as the average consumer, then you need to be just that. I want to know how user friendly these are for someone that's not an expert. This video offers just that.
For the ones pissed about her not know how to do her brows. I like that. Not all of us are freaking beauty gurus. CHILL TF OUT. It only makes it a honest review. You’re just mean for no reason.

Reaction like it was an actual tattoo and if she screwed up it was gonna be on there forever. Even after she wiped off the first mistake. She acted like it was this huge deal. Granted I’m tired right now so maybe I’m just extra cranky at small things.
Of it was actually difficult to remove and would be hard to correct than I could understand but all you had to do was wipe off your mistakes snd you were fine.

What I can’t understand is why the hell there aren’t enough products for ppl with straight up BLACK brows!? Drugstore I’m looking at you fools! Not all of us are light skinned with skimpy light brows some have dark or straight up black brows
In my own opinion i think its because it began with the demand. Most light skinned light browed women have naturally sparse brows and thin hair, which started the demand in the first place. As with those with darker hair and skin tone are blessed with thicker hair and brows. I used to purposely wax the heck out of my brows to try and get rid of as muxh as possible because i had so much hair. I felt somewhat unnaturally hairy compared to other girls when i was younger.lol anyway, i do agree tho that they should be adding more options as just because someone with darker brows doesnt mean we dont want/need to shape and define them. My trouble is finding a good dark brow thats almost black that doesnt look red.lol once i thought i had a good match until i went out in the natural light and after going half the day i met up with friends and they gasped and asked me why i had purple/burgundy eyebrows.lol

@Sarah: I don't understand it either. I am light skinned but my hair is dark and my eyebrows and eyelashes are black. Straight up black. Putting anything brown on my eyebrows looks more stupid and unnatural than I can possibly describe.

Thank you. I am a tattoo artist who tries to warn people against micro blading. They think it isn't.. so many are mislead. The facial skin makes inks fade fast. Browns turn to oranges and blues and purple's.now your eyebrows need done again in two years even less. Why I ask do you want to do this? Use a pencil or perhaps dying them. Don't tattoo your face the ink colors change and not for the good
I got my eyebrows microbladed exactly two years ago & they still look absolutely flawless, so I suppose it's who you go to. 🤷♀️
Mine start to fade after just over a year, but retouch cost a fraction of what the original cost is. I have them done because I have alopecia in mine and live in central Florida. I like to just get up and go to a waterpark or beach without having to spend a bunch of time doing my brows. I don't have to worry about sweating them off or the usual afternoon thunderstorm either.
Mine are still going strong after two years , just the slightest of fading . A good tech is crucial ( do your homework ladies ) . Also aftercare is vitally important , follow your techs instructions to the latter and don’t be tempted to cut corners .
Yes, your right! I had my eyebrows tattooed and it faded very fast, so i would get them done once a year and it ruined my eyebrow hair. The hair i had fell out completely. I stopped tattooing my eyebrows for the past 12 years and my hair finally came back. I use powder eyebrow make up and it works fine.
@@minervarichards8855 my case was different , I had virtually no brow hair at all , I drew them on for years but then my eyesight declined and it became harder and harder. Truthfully I probably wouldn’t recommend it for people with decent brows to start with, for me though it’s one of the best things I ever did 😊
I use the Maybelline Tattoo pen, it absolutely does stay for 24 hours. You can even touch your face, it's a skin tint, not a cake-on-top-of-skin makeup pen, so you have to use remover solution to get it off. It comes off with water and a light scrub. Even better, they actually have an AUBURN color!

I used the Maybelline and it was lovely twice and then it just dried up, I’ve heard other people comment on this too, shame because it was nice 😊

Me too, since I have natural strawberry blonde hair, my eyebrows are white, I barely have any eyebrow hair, im so tired of using an eyeliner pencil to draw my eyebrows
I can tell you this is not good for us with no brows.. no tints either.. glamiara microblading pen is what you want to try.. it's a pen that let'syou make individual strokes instead of three at a time and if you go to their website you can check out the reviews and a video as well as pictures and you'll see in the pictures that it looks extremely natural

I like her brows, she has a natural arch which I think is the way to "perfect" eyebrows.
I think straight brows look perfect. Having a pointed arch is out of style in my opinion.

I use the Maybelline brow pen and it does stay on overnight and I suffer with night sweats.

It's probably OK *occasionally* to sleep with your brows on, but you should thoroughly wash your entire face every night. There's actually bacteria on eyelids that should be cleansed daily. There's even some new eyelid sanitizing product out now (because we never knew we should worry about eyelid bacteria before 😕).
Whole point being to protect your vision; nothing worse than a cornea infection. You could lose your eyesight. BUT! We could also be transferring the bacteria INTO our eye shadow, mascara etc, unknowingly. And infecting our eyes in the process. And transferrting to every product we touch.
And how often are we cleaning our brushes? Yeah, I thought so. Me neither.
PS This is why we've always been told NEVER share maskup. EVER!

I have done my own consumer tests on make up. I think the cheaper versions are just as good if not better. You don't need to spend a lot of money. :)

I use the maybeline in the blonde shade, looooove it BUT still too dark for me. The blonde is totally brown. Otherwise it’s awesome and looks natural 😍
I want to try the Maybelline but a lot of reviews say it turned their skin green. Did you have that problem?

I know, its like the fitness gurus when they advertise products for losing weight when the model is already thin, its called deceptive advertising...which is why us consumers have to be more aware of these sort of things
Why do cosmetic companies not make brow pens in black. Are they really that out of touch? My brows are black....black. Not brown, not ash black....just black. You'd think that since technology has made it possible for one to check on your house when you're not home, swipe you phone to pay for things, start you car with an app, etc., they'd do something that will replace your brows permanently. For every race.

I've found one brow (my right) looks great the left not so much...always fill the bald spots first then lightly do the center.
Easily, lightly shake it like a fan felt side away from you to move ink into felt

After watching the Brow Pen Showdown from 9/24/2020, I am convinced the single tiny thin brushes are much easier for novices. I bought the Sephora 3 prong one and still trying to get used to it and will probably just use it vertically one prong at a time...her top 3 pens were Bushy Brow from Lime Crime, Brow Blade from Urban Decay (only dark shades unfortunately) and Glossier Brow Pen, none of which is readily available in Australia except by online order so no opportunity to check colours. Good luck!

So. I can't help but question why Insider is so late to the game reviewing this style product. Given Insiders access to info, technology, and definitely-higher-prodcution-budget than compares to the average make up reviewer on RUclips, I think this content is soooo painfully inadequate and...late. I have a couple of Tabrow pens but they don't work as advertised for me. If I try for the single stroke lines they tout, the color is wayyy too light. And after several coats it just goes as solid as my regular creme brow color. Honestly, I bought it for the "waterproof" and "wearproof" qualities so I'd have something that I could wear while working out...and in that they work for me. But if the Maybelline stuff is just as good....
The directions on the eyebrow pen I bought says you have to push it down first on a hard surface to get ink to come out.

i hate how through out this whole video, before she even did her brows, she was taking mabelines side. even though the $9 one looks like a box above her eye. brows aren’t supposed to look boxy there supposed to look very light and natural like the $40 one.

The Maybelline pen is HORRIBLE it oxidizes and turns BRIGHT GREEN! I bought dark blonde or "taupe" because I'm a redhead..picture this. Ginger feeling confident, Makin moves like I KNOW my eyebrows are flawless right now...and then the shock of people's reaction to my new "extremish" look😂😂 tired other units to make sure it wasn't just a dud and yeah same reaction.

I naturally have thick brows but they are a pain in the ass to take care of. You have to trim them all the time (which really hurts)

I think Maybelline is the winner - agreed. I would try a diff technique on the tail - try to go less in a line so you open up the blade/tip more horizontally, to get the individual lines. Do you still use this?

You're brows are nice actually and if you took a brow shaver over there bottom of your brow (where it dips down a little) and then on the top toward the front of your arch you'd have a perfect classic brow!
BTW when I dye my hair I also dye my brows for 8 minutes and it lasts about 3 weeks 😉
I like the results of the more expensive brow pen personally...but it’s not enough difference to pay such ridiculous price. I’ll stick to my .99 cent Jordana pencil. It works just fine.
I tried the Maybelline one and the individual lines kept bleeding together. Wasn’t for me.

Thanks for the vid. First, I would take your natural brows over mine any day - lol! Beautiful eyes, btw. Anastasia kicks a$$ - I think I need to just go back to that. These feel like a magic marker on your face. I know that seems to be the style right now but I see a lot of brows out and about and girls/women are WAY over-doing the brows these days. I don't think people understand that actually makes people look older.

I have this feeling so often these days that many women with good looking and suitable natural brows just ruin their faces with these trendy, quite thick and harshly defined instabrows. The before is so much better so often than the after
Remember GRAVITY you guys lol. When a pen or marker (which this is just a glorified marker with 4 not so thin tips) is held upside down, the ink will not go to the tip lol.

Girl thats me. Micro blading is something I heard about from my sister. But like you, I can't do tattos. So, I'm going to try it. With my age I'm loosing my eyebrow hairs now. I want to fill them in but using an eyebrow pencil it runs iff by the end of my day. I'll go get one once once this virus tragedy we're experiencing, I'll go buy 1. So you think the we need the Maybelline one. I don't want to feel I need to be a makeup artist, just able to do my brows and go. 9 Knicks is way better than playing $40 dollars for brows. Thank you. If a raindrop hits the Maybelline brow the color will run down your face.
Oh come on - you WERE blessed with great brows!~ But The first booboo (tho funny) happens when you hold the pen or brush too far from the tip. Key is to hold the it a lot closet to where the ink is, and rest part of your hand - usually a thumb knuckles - on your face to steady it. You'll have double the control.
