    • @steviesleaze6849

      Okay valid point, but Slipknot have made it, Drowning Pool is still growing so why diss Ryan for carrying on Drowning pool if he can bring forward them and still do what Dave was bringing to metal, Even if Dave is not here to witness it, So I guess my valid point is that Dave legacy is living through Drowning pool with Ryan and the rest of the band, like Slipknot is carrying on and living the legacy of paul.

    • @ananivelchev2956
      @ananivelchev2956 8 лет назад +58

      They are living the legacy because this was their first album without Gray and he was a key member and co-founder of the band. It's the same with Slayer and Jeff Hanneman, Avenged Sevenfold and The Revand etc.

    I don't know about anyone else but this song doesn't sound egotistical at all. It sounds (at least to me) like he was a very happy and trusting person at one point in his life but he was crush and betrayed by people he thought were his friends leaving him only to care for himself. He realized that being overly trusting gets you no where and the only person he needs to care about is himself. Sadly I know how that feels, I bet i'm not the only person who has.

    This song was very cathartic to me. I listened to it a lot on my last deployment in 2010 Afghanistan. I care deeply about my men, family and human life in general. When this song came on our internal speaker on the truck it really helped pacify negative thoughts about things that happened. It wasn't that I didn't really care, but the song somehow helped me process the many thoughts I had about the things I really cared deeply about.

    This is how addicts feel most of the time. They dig themselves into a hole while burning the bridges with their friends and families. When they finally hit rock bottom, there is nobody left to help pull them out so they lash out and blame everyone but themselves. Some of Aaron Lewis' lyrics were like this, and he finally pushed his ego away enough to find out everyone still loved him. They were just waiting on him to start helping himself.

    This isn't the first drowning pool song I was introduced to but it was the first one I've taken the time to actually listen to, this song is my most favorite on the sinner album. I was on my way to a cbat (Community based acute treatment) 3 years ago when I first heard this song, when I finally got home after 2 weeks I listened to this song a lot and then I listened to every song on sinner. I never thought that I would have liked every song on sinner, but I did.
    Edit: 2024, I'm 17 and still jamming to this. Time goes by fast, it feels like yesterday when I discovered the song. Every time I listen I'm hit with a wave of nostalgia, I wish I could go back, but that's not possible. I'm grateful for this song and I'm grateful to Dave Williams for putting out this masterpiece before he passed. Rest In peace Dave Williams, though I wasn't alive during the time, the legacy you left behind will always have a place in my heart 💙.
