- When Laine Hardy won American Idol in 2019 he won fame and industry prestige, the potential for a handsome check and a few momentos to cherish forever. It's one of those momentos that stunned us during a recent live interview and performance.
Taste of Country Nights hosts Evan Paul and Amber spent a half hour with Hardy as he played three songs and spoke candidly about life before, during and after American Idol. Among the things he shared: his massive back tattoo and the story of how he led eight Louisiana police officers on a high speed chase that ended with him in handcuffs.

I absolutely adore this guy... and literally, for no other reason than that of the fact that he has remained so humble through all of this, while also maintaining his country side. I know there are good reasons they dressed him up each week, but when he starts doing concerts and in person events, I'd love to see him keep that down home country style in the way he talks, dresses, and lives. He is a true country boy and we southerners LOVE him for it!

Why didn't this kid blow up with his career? Wonder what happened?
A hottie no doubt, and meets the moment with his mixed-race handsome face. But I don't see a recording artist superstar. (His initial sales were not huge, and a sold-out tour by the runner up Alejandro stole the thunder). I see more of a live performer at Branson, Nashville, or Vegas with his Charisma and boy band good looks. But Vocal distinction (while a nice voice) isn't his gift like Alejandro, Arthur Gunn, or even Dillion James.
Kreatures100 he’s a lovely kid but sadly he won American Idol based on his looks. He just doesn’t connect with the songs he sings and lacks musicianship and creativity. He is bolstered by a large fan base out of Louisiana who spend an enormous amount of time on his fan groups rallying the troops to watch his videos and post comments all over social media about how wonderful he is. That’s fine but it’s not going to make this kid a star. I think he’s got a very long way to go yet.
Sully Loo Agreed. I felt no connection with any song he sang on Idol. He won because he’s a good looking guy with a decent voice. Yes he can play guitar fairly well, but so can a lot of people. I just don’t see him staying around long
Kreatures 100--why do all the concerts in the world have the front rows completely full of screaming WOMEN?? Because WOMEN absolutely LOVE a good-lookin' dude (or girl, for that matter!) And Laine could triple the ticket prices if he would wear the sparkly clothes he wore on Idol. (Of course, this doesn't apply right now for who knows when tours will ever start again??)
